Came here to celebrate my birthday as I was finding a restaurant that is “fine dining” or “causal dining” as well also affordable for my guest as well. The reservation was place a couple days before my birthday and upon arrival table wasn’t set as well need half of the party to be there to be able to go to the table. Our server was great as well helpful. The food on the other hand for me was mediocre for me. We started off with The chef daily soup which was okay nothing special really. Just a creamy version of a chicken noodle soup. Tuna and chip ( not sure if that’s the name ) - wasn’t a big fan of it honestly but my guests enjoyed it And then for the main course I had the steak and fries but I substituted the fries for coleslaws which the coleslaw was pretty decent just wish it wasn’t so dry. As for the steak was cook well but didn’t had any flavor. My guests enjoyed their meal which I’m grateful for. Overall the experience was great, I’ll definitely try it again but avoid the steak for sure.

Atmosphere is candlelight and cozy, food is very well seasoned and tasty. Crabcakes were so delicious. Service could have been more attentive. Overall good experience for my daughters birthday .

My wife and I dined at J. Alexander’s for Valentine’s Day and let me just say this…it was absolutely positively exquisite. Our waiter Joseph was phenomenal (give this man some recognition!). He was attentive, accurate with his recommendations, and very friendly. We ordered the Spinach Con Queso appetizer, my wife ordered a Cesar salad, and I ordered the wedge salad. All of the above were amazing. For our main course we both ordered the Oscar Filet with asparagus and loaded baked potato and let me tell you what…I’ve had some excellent steaks in my time, and this was definitely at the top of the list! And the Mâitre d’Hôtel Butter on top of the steak is pure perfection. We will most definitely be back.

Very impressed with this restaurant! I got the roasted chicken, with smashed potatoes, and chicken aujus. Very moist and seasoned perfect! Great portion size, and the chicken dinner was only $23. They have a little of everything that forms a great variety of choice. The featured peanut butter pie was fantastic! My only downfall here was that there was no deviled eggs. When I searched online for a new place to try, I seen in many pictures in the reviews the deviled eggs worth the candied bacon. That was what guided me to come here. So it was disappointing to get here and find out it is only a featured item sometimes and mostly for lunch. Management, please look at carrying that as a menu item, since the reviews rave about it! The service here was fantastic too. Everyone was inviting and very nice. Thank you!

I forgot to take pics of my food it was so good. I had the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken was moist and the potatoes were the best. Not sure what the seasonings were in the potatoes but very tasty.

Been here quite a few times and the food and service is always exceptional. Upscale food and service. My wife really loves the salads here..very large servings. The Mac and Cheese is very good as well. The service is always fast and friendly. Love the decor in and around this restaurant. We will definitely be back. I recommend this location.

It’s always delightful to come to J Alexander’s in Jacksonville. The servers and hosts are very attentive, food is over the top and if you want to try dessert, then the carrot cake is 💯 the option, warm and moist. Also the wine options were awesome. My choice a white Italian! No questions. Highly recommended and will come back.
