About Prime & Pearl - steak house in Gainesville, Florida
Customer Review Summary
Prime & Pearl is a solid choice among Gainesville steakhouses, though not the best. The hostess was somewhat off-putting, and early arrivals must wait to be seated despite an empty restaurant. Bar seating became an option, but the food was deemed slightly overpriced yet flavorful. Highlights included enjoyable calamari, a perfectly cooked rack of lamb, and a delightful popover with blueberry butter. However, some dishes lacked flavor, particularly the redfish, and the atmosphere resembled a hotel lobby, which some found unappealing. While service was generally satisfactory, some guests noted exceptional experiences with attentive staff and personalized care. Many praised the fresh oysters and ribeye, with a standout remark about the lobster mac and cheese. Overall, Prime & Pearl is recommended for its quality food and pleasant dining experience, despite minor drawbacks.

There are several nice steakhouses in Gainesville......prime and pearl is good..... not the best, but a solid choice. The hostess at the front door was a little off putting. We showed up a little earlier than our reservation time of 530p (after a quick scan, we saw that the restaurant was basically empty). We were told we would not be able to be seated until 530p. Since we had to wait, we decided to sit at the bar.....at 530p, the restaurant was still basically empty...... at this point, we went ahead and decided to eat at the bar. The food was slightly overpriced, but had good flavor and texture. If you haven't been, I recommend going to try it out.

The food was enjoyable overall. The calamari was pretty good, with nice pieces of octopus and fried peppers, complemented by a flavorful chili sauce and citrus aioli. The oysters were good but disappointingly small. The rack of lamb came with three pieces and were a great size. I got them in medium and was cooked perfectly, all juicy and tender. It could have used a bit more salt. The four green beans served with it felt odd, they definitely could have added a lot more instead of charging $11 for a side of green beans. The redfish was well-prepared but lacked flavor, and the lumb crab on top didn’t appeal to me. On the other hand, the popover bread was a delightful surprise—light, buttery, and paired wonderfully with the blueberry butter. It was unexpected, as I thought regular bread would be served. The inside kinda looked like a hotel lobby so I wasn't really into that experience. Service was just alright, not exceptional.

Our family of 3 had a wonderful dinner. We started with a half dozen each of raw oysters, fire roasted oysters and Diablo oysters, all of which were fresh and absolutely delicious. For the entrees my husband went with the wild gulf blacked redfish topped with a crab beurre blanche sauce, our daughter enjoyed the chicken carbonara and I had a perfectly seared 16 oz ribeye cooked to perfection. We managed to save room for dessert this visit so we each tried something different. For me I couldn't resist the red velvet cheesecake, my husband had the largest slice of the most delicious lemon cake and our daughter is a creature of habit so she had to get the creme brulee. I highly recommend trying prime and pearl if you've never been here. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, the atmosphere and service is excellent as well.

This was a birthday experience. The food and the atmosphere could not have been better. The staff was kind, attentive, and heart warming. Stop in and enjoy a drink or two with some of their to die for bread and cinnamon blueberry bourbon butter.

Wonderful experience here with my wife. We ordered steak and they were cooked perfectly the way we asked for. Will be dining here again. Have a great selection of wines and drinks to check out as well

We had a great visit at Prime and Pearl. They have the best popover bread and sweet butter, and their diablo oysters are delicious. We also ordered the redfish and ribeye, which were both fantastic and cooked to perfection. What really prompted me to leave a review was the top tier service. The manager came out to update us about our order and make sure everything came out to our liking. We really appreciated her professionalism, patience, and care to us and the other tables nearby.

One of the few places in town I can actually order raw oysters other gulf ones. I prefer the seafood options here over their steak which I find a bit underseasoned. Lobster tails are always perfect here as are the crab cakes, redfish entree and calamari. One small gripe I have about this location is that the tables are a bit close. I understand that the space is small but it gets a bit congested trying to navigate when it’s peak dinner hour.

We had a waitress and her name is Mimi. She was so awesome and very attentive. The food was so good. Awesome lobster mac and cheese. Delicious ribeye. Oyster Rockefeller was the best i had yet!
