Customer Review Summary
Mark's Prime Steakhouse has mixed reviews from diners. One couple experienced poor service and disappointing food. The waiter was inattentive and cocktails were watered down. They found the steak lacking in flavor and char, while sides like Brussels sprouts seemed pre-frozen. Another review praised the ambiance and food, particularly the perfectly cooked steak and good wine selection. Long-time patrons have consistently enjoyed the food and atmosphere, marking it as a baseline for quality. However, there are complaints about slow service and overcooked dishes, with some finding the prices unjustifiable for the quality received. In contrast, a few reviewers express a strong desire to return, highlighting the classy environment and attentive staff. Overall, opinions are sharply divided, with some recommending to choose other steakhouses in Gainesville for better experiences.

TL;DR: There are other good steakhouses in Gainesville go there instead. My wife and I went here for the first time on our ten year anniversary, hoping to have a special night. We've been to all the other steakhouses in town and were looking forward to try this one. The reservation process was easy and straightforward and we had no problem getting seated. That's about where the good time ended. The waiter was very inattentive and didn't even ask us it was our first time or if we were celebrating anything special. Meanwhile, for comparison, we went to Ember's down the street a few months before and they asked if we were celebrating anything, we told them a promotion, and they brought us free dessert and brandy. I'm not looking for free things and I don't need a stranger to celebrate my anniversary, but when these expensive places are supposed to focus on customer experience, it's disappointing that our waiter didn't care at all. Looking past that, we ordered cocktails. They took forever to come out, pretty much right before our meal. I wanted to like mine but it was 90% chipped ice. I ordered an old fashioned. That's not the kind of ice you put in there. It almost immediately became mostly water. If you're spending $15+ on a cocktail, you don't want water. The bread was fine. It's sourdough. If you don't like that kind of bread, skip it. Finally the meal. The fish we got was somehow the best part, at the steakhouse. The potatoes were good too but that's where things end. The steak had no char or crust. I got the New York Strip and it was mostly gristle. I also don't think they seasoned it. The Brussels sprouts were supposed to be roasted with bacon and they honestly tasted like they were pre-frozen and boiled. By the time we were done, we were asked if we wanted dessert but we just wanted to get out of there. It took forever for the waiter to bring us our check and we ended up spending the second most we've ever spent at a steakhouse in Gainesville while getting almost the same exact things that we usually do. I sincerely mean this, you could have a MUCH better meal and experience at Texas Roadhouse for half the price. Obviously go to one of the other fancy steakhouses first but I'm just saying, TR would have been way better. If I'm going to spend the money, I'm going to one of the other great places in town. I'm skipping this place every time.

This place was wonderful. It’s located conveniently in Midtown Gainesville. That always confuses me because I always think downtown is midtown but midtown is downtown. But I digress. The food was absolutely wonderful and the ambiance was amazing. The food was phenomenal and the steak was cooked to perfection. They had a wonderful selection of wines. And the sides were great too. We went for my fiancés birthday and made a great choice to celebrate tie occasion. We will certainly be back

I can say enough about Marks. Great food, better service, and amazing atmosphere. Benn going to Marks for over 20 years and it's my baseline for what food food should taste like. Casual night out, fancy dinner, or just drinks at the bar, you can't go wrong with Marks.

We have crab cakes, escargot lobster, filet mignon, let start with the crab cake we’re really good specially the sauce, the lobster were overcooked and too hard too eat, filet was tender but they charred mine, the blue cheese sauce was good, service was slow said the kitchen was back up,the salon needs some updates the chair I was seating was broken

Located downtown. I visited here on a Saturday night, I would recommend to have a reservation as it was quite busy. Upon arrival I was promptly seated at our table. Our waiter was great, paid attention to details and recommended a few options. Mark’s has a great selection of wines. For dinner, we order steak and some sides. Unfortunately they were sold out of their chef meat special this evening. I would recommend the Delmonico cut, twice baked potato, and the risotto. The risotto changes daily as it’s a chef special of the day. Lastly, we had to wait over an hour for our entrees to arrive, the manager did come over and apology for the wait time. Thankfully shortly after that, the food was brought to the table.

Venue: pretty large restaurant, tables and booths available. My party had a large private room in the back to ourselves. Service: we had two staff dedicated to our table, they were pretty accommodating and friendly. Didn't have any issues and felt like they managed the large table pretty well. Food: it was pretty good, delicious steak, but you're definitely paying for it. Drinks: they had a large selection, no complaints but don't think they had anything special.

I've eaten here many times and it has been a great experience each time. The food is always so good, I'm happy to pay a premium for it. I would recommend anyone looking for a delicious meal to try this restaurant out.

Potatoes and spinach sides were very good. Had a ceaser and soup for my meal. Husband had rib eye $70, said was awful 😖. It was cooked rare, but the quality of the steak was terrible. He could barely cut it. I had the diva drink, which I did like! The ambiance was classy, the serving staff was good... but that steak was truly crap. Will not be back , at least for a "good steak" ever again. Marks doesn't have what we were looking for. We live in Ocala and we'll definitely skip it there too, and no thanks to Remington's as they are all owed by the same people (correct?).
