Truluck's Ocean's Finest Seafood and Crab

We came for dinner on a Saturday night during a weekend trip to DC from NYC in early March with three others. We made the reservation for the same day. It was a cold and windy evening. I believe it is a good thing we made the reservation because the restaurant was pretty crowded. I was excited to try this location of Truluck’s as I am originally from Texas and have been to their restaurants in the past. Sadly, this experience did not leave me wanting to try this or any Truluck’s in the future. When we arrived, we were told we would have to wait 15 minutes for our table to be ready (despite having a reservation). The manager was very nice and tried to make this up to us. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and then we never really saw him again. When our snow crab came, they only brought one crab fork even though we ordered for all three of us. When my entree came, I had no cutlery. The server never asked how things were going or if he could get us more drinks. The restaurant looks like a wedding reception from 2007. The food was fine; not really good or bad. I don’t think anything about my experience remotely related to the $100+ per person we spent on this meal. I was disappointed. I would likely not come back to this restaurant unless someone else was paying.

Elegant booths with a healthy selection of wine…fine cutlery with a literal “silver platter” as the play setting. Catherine was a vibrant and extremely educated on all the options down to the finest detail. As a server, her energy added a nice touch to the meal. A well dressed professional staff ready to cater to high class clientele is headed by Bryan the manger who stopped by to make sure that we were well taken care of and everything was to our liking. Which in this man’s opinion is the mark of a top tier dinning atmosphere. Good seafood takes a soulful touch and a “fresh” mindset. Both of which get served up after a hot towel to refresh you before the main meal. The live piano played ever so softly adds a soothing, sultry feel that enhances the mood. The piano player Luke took special requests that put the cherry on top of the dinning experience. This is a must have dining experience if you were a seafood fan and find yourself a DC. (Note: Posting someone in a review takes a rare circumstance, but as I think it would help highlight who he is as a musician, I have chosen to post Luke in this review.)

If you’re looking for a great seafood place with a variety menu that includes steaks, look no further! all of our food was cooked to perfection, amazing flavor, and the bar drinks were delicious. They were amazing in accommodating the nut allergic person in our group, taking extra care to ensure everything they are was safe. This place even makes their own desserts in house! Nope not catered in, all fresh made and we could ensure some were safe for the allergy person! What a rare treat! Our waiter, Paul, was superb, friendly, helpful, and just the best waiter we have had in ages. Thanks Paul for making this a memorable experience!

Truluck's 700 K St. NW DC Ocean's finest seafood and crab! Which is a tremendously gross understatement! Which is a testament to the chefs preparing your food and making it look absolutely as beautiful as it tastes! The service is nothing short of absolutely stunning and amazing! Their motto must be to go above and beyond and create an experience that you will never ever ever forget! Dawn the general manager came out and greeted us with kindness that as long as I have lived I have never experienced and it was nothing short of amazing I have nothing but appreciation and gratitude for how good they made me feel along with my company! Everyone is on the exact same page which is to offer you an amazing and Unforgettable experience from the greeters! To my server, to the back servers in the individuals bringing you food! They check on your allergies and make sure you are going to be safe while enjoying their delectable entrees and appetizers! And the bar! What can I say absolutely freaking amazing! So much fun! So personable! Attending to your every need want and desire! Every single staff member shares the same philosophy to make your experience amazing! The attention to detail is impeccable and unrival! Even the individuals who brought out the food, packed the food, and retrieved various condiments. Christian, Conor, Stuardo, and Nerlin. Mr. Bond Davis was the icing on the cake by coming by to make sure we were having the most memorable experience possible... Yes he is the Manager and a great one at that. Worth every penny spent here. They really want to give you diabetes with their carrot cake but it was actually the best carrot cake I've ever had. The creme brulee had the perfect texture that I loved.

Went to Truluck's for dinner for a yearly high-school friend gathering after the Wash DC Car show a few weekends ago. Wow, the seafood tower we got was amazing! We selected everything we wanted and has it custom built. 😀 Service was fantastic and the steaks & seafood apps were perfect.. If I remember correctly there was even a guy playing piano & doing some light yacht rock DJ stuff in between. The manager was super accommodating since we got in late and tables were hard to come by. He had us wait at the bar (no problemo.. had us a few old fashions) and got us a table in around 20 min. I cannot thank him and the staff enough for an amazing evening. Our friend group (HS class of 89!) only sees each other once a year these days so it meant a lot to us. We will be back!!!

We selected everything we wanted and has it custom built. 😀 Service was fantastic and the steaks & seafood apps were perfect.. If I remember correctly there was even a guy playing piano & doing some light yacht rock DJ stuff in between. The manager was super accommodating since we got in late and tables were hard to come by. He had us wait at the bar (no problemo.. had us a few old fashions) and got us a table in around 20 min. I cannot thank him and the staff enough for an amazing evening. Our friend group (HS class of 89!) only sees each other once a year these days so it meant a lot to us. We will be back!!!

Our reservation was at 7pm but we were not seated until around 8pm because the group before took longer than expected. However, they had four appetizer dishes ready at the table once we were seated. The calamari was the best I’ve ever had and I regularly order that app. Our server (I think his name was Abi) was great! He was friendly and fun. We did have two different drink order mixups and most people said their food was lukewarm warm upon delivery. Also, they forgot to bring back my friend’s boxed leftover but they immediately replaced it with a fresh box of the items she had on her plate. Overall I enjoyed the experience and I’d like to give it another try with a small group to see if that will improve the experience. I’d recommend and return.

Wow! Fantastic food and delicious drinks. I loved the surf ‘n’ turf options. Highly recommend the Spicy Blackberry Margarita, and the filet mignon was perfectly cooked. Even the hot towels between courses were lavender scented, which was amazing.
