The vibe here is so cool. I felt like I was in an old restaurant from the early 1900s. At lunch on a Wednesday, we were seated within a few minutes. Our waiter was so kind and provided great service. The filet and potatoes were outstanding. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meals.

Outstanding, simply outstanding! We had a wonderful meal including the 8oz filet which was cooked to perfection. Also enjoyed the crab cakes, that we would highly recommend. Don’t miss this family restaurant when you visit DC!

The service and foods were superb. I was honestly thrown off by the old building smell and old interior of the restaurant (with pictures of politicians) but the small plate of octopus, ribeye steak, filet mignon steak, arugula salads, and oysters and shitake mushroom side were all fab. Their foods were legit. And the server was experienced, professional, attentive and thoughtful. For example, he offered to split the salads when we told him that we were going to share the salads.

Great food. Attentive service. Elegant atmosphere. A rare find. I'd been concerned about finding parking so that we could make it to our lunch meeting (with a reservation) on time. When I sent an email to the restaurant, I received a quick response that limited valet parking may be available. Still concerned, I called and was told that a spot would be available for my car. Problem solved. Such a relief for this out-of-towner! This is the kind of customer service that's unusual these days, especially at restaurants. You have lots of sit-down-lunch options in DC. I dare you to try to find one as good as The Monocle. This is a can't-miss stop on your stay. If you work near the Hill, it's probably already on your list of favorite lunch spots.

Just happened across the Monacle after our tour of the capitol building. Was very much like stepping into an old restaurant where there was lots of history on the walls. Food was fantastic. One of my colleagues mentioned we’ll have to put this on our google list of places to go next time we are in town. The restaurant was fairly busy during lunch time but we were still able to get a table for four right away. At about 1:30-2pm the place cleared right out as everyone finished up their lunch hour.

Our first time here but definitely not our last. This has become our nee favorite restaurant in DC! I had the ribeye, she had the pork chop and we shared the lemon pie....... all were excellent! We also highly recommend the grand old punch! Update ..... second time was just as good as the first!

Overall it was a perfect dinner. The noodles in the lobster linguini would be my only complaint. Fresh noodles are easy to make and these tasted like the kind from a box. The lobster was cooked perfect, tons of flavor in the sauce. The sausage appetizer was greasy and good and a definite must, the lemon pie could have been more lemony, but it was satisfying and was a good complement to the dinner. Great wines by the glass too.

My husband and I were here for lunch and it will be a staple when we're in DC. The service was excellent. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. Order the salmon and potatoes au gratin! I still think about it regularly. The cocktails were great too. Still trying to figure out the ratios for the Kennedy 60. Wonderful!
