Solid spot for classic British and American fare located just a few blocks away from the White House. I visited P.J. Clarke's for lunch on a workday and had a great time. There were a few other tables, but it was otherwise pretty quiet and relaxed. The ambiance is quite quaint, with their slightly retro red-and-white checkered tablecloths, and old-fashioned black-and-white photos hanging from the walls. The staff is super friendly and did a great job handling our group of 10 people. I ordered the salmon salad, which was delightful. The salad was super fresh and crunchy with a variety of finely chopped veggies, including cabbage, peas, cucumber, and celery...all of which gave the salad a ton of texture and made it far more fun to eat than a normal bowl of lettuce. The chopped salad was topped with a generous fillet of salmon, which had a lovely crispy skin. It was very slightly overcooked, so it wasn't quite as tender and flaky as I would have liked, but it wasn't to the point that it was entirely dried out. The food is solid, but definitely does run quite expensive. While I enjoyed my salad, I did not think that it was quite worth $30; I think there are better places a few blocks further from the White House where you can get a similar quality of food for half the price.

I got the salmon tartar, the portion was smaller than I thought but it was good and fresh, I like it. The best part was the crafted beer, Goose something was the name, it has a soft guava flavor.

Brought my mom here for her birthday dinner. The restaurant definitely has its own charm from thee time you see it, to when you walk in and get seated. All the staff encountered were friendly and welcoming. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as a regular dining area and bar area. The bathrooms were clean also. There were plenty of food choices and drink options too. Both of which came out quickly. Everything was tasty. I'd definitely come back here. We ubered so we didn't have to bother finding parking. I'm sure there was a parking garage around there somewhere but we didn't want to worry about it. The restaurant is right on black lives matter plaza right down the street from the White House. Definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try if you haven't already.

Our service was speedy, the server, Edward, was very attentive and super happy to chat with us. He even wrote down suggestions for us as we are visiting from out of town! All the food was good but the best part were the fries and the ranch. The ranch is so fresh and creamy, and the fries are perfectly salted. Would come back just for those.

The only place we visited twice while in DC! The lobster is divine. Shrimp cocktail (sauce!!!) was perfect. The Burgers are all great, our favorite is the Bbq blue cheese. And the cheesecake…chef’s kiss. Meals to remember! Thanks!

Food is so so here but portion wise is quite standard American portion. Service wise feels kind of in a rush, not very attentive. The restaurant can get quite crowded and noisy where you can hear the next table conversation as the tables are quite close to each other.

We had a large group swing into PJ Clarkes to visit for dinner and while we had a great time, I admit there wasn't much on them menu that stood out for me. They have a a very full menu with tons of options and a good beer selection. I recall the warm almonds being good. The fish and chips had to be sent back twice because the breading was soggy. I had never had a lobster roll so I figured this signature dish would blow me away. It's savory, salty and a bit messy when all is said and done...good, but maybe it's just not for me. I enjoyed the homemade chips more than the lobster roll. Service was great. Staff was very attentive and really had a good time with our group.
