Amazing Christmas Eve dinner. Live piano, great food, steak was perfect.. appetizers perfect. great wine , great cocktails (especially the mezcal one). Nick was our perfect server and was super professional and courteous throughout even with 5 kids running around at times.. Thankyou Saint Nick!

This dinner was a present due to my having terminal cancer. It was absolutely the BEST meal I've ever had, in my life. I have tried 5 different Michelin Restaurants, and as many Bib Gourmand. This meal was absolute perfection. We each had an A5 Wagyu. One was a Filet, and the other was a Rib Eye..I was blown away. We did the table side Caesar salad with Pecorino Cheese. Three sides, Mushroom Au Grautin and Potato Puree. Their mocktails did not disappoint either. Oliver was our server and he was outstanding. Definitely a place I'd go to again.

If you are looking for a good place for date night or even a business dinner, The Vault is a good option. It's a steakhouse located in the BofA Building on California Street. The bar area has a live piano player, the restaurant area is intimate and, something I like, not super noisy. The service is amazing and the wine list impressive. We were a party of 5 and we shared two dips, the artichoke and onion options. One of our party went with the tableside ceasar salad to go with her steak (sorry no picture) and the table shared the creamed spinach and pureed potatoes. I went light with a yummy lobster bisque and prawn Cocktail. The menu isn't huge, which actually makes it easier to choose! Everything was delicious. Definitely recommend

Went for SF Restaurant Week with a friend. $75 for the course which came with your choice between lobster bisque or caesar salad, an entree (we both chose the sirloin) which came with the potato puree and creamed spinach, and a choice of dessert (chocolate or a pana cotta). Everything was pretty good. Of the choices, the lobster bisque and the chocolate dessert were nuch better than the other options. The panna cotta texture was way too thick and jello-y. The sirloin for me was a little too salty. For drinks, we got the snake in the grass and the carribbean sunrise(?). Both drinks were good. Service was great. Loved that we got to pick a steak knife that spoke to us. The ambiance was fancy. Also loved the pianist playing tonight.

I love the Vault! I love the outdoor garden and the steakhouse. The NYE prix fixe meal was good. The service was exceptional. My only complaint is that we were served an entree that was to be shared but we were not given serving plates. We were hungry so we ate and I joked with the waiter that I enjoyed being primitive. Also I ordered a port wine for dessert and it was forgotten about. I mainly go to the vault for amazing ambiance and great cocktails and I'm excited to visit again.

After looking at all the options in the area, I chose this place to celebrate my birthday, and it turned out to be a big disappointment. On the positive side: the steaks we ordered were ok; there was decent char on the meat and the cuts were pretty good, not too fatty. If that’s all you want from a top steakhouse, you could find the same elsewhere. But everything else was awful. The sides and the service is where these expensive steakhouses are supposed to shine and surprise you. The creamed spinach was tasteless, the roasted corn was mostly melted cheese on top with very little corn, the garlic shrimp also had literally not one piece of garlic, and you can tell they were frozen. On the presentation: the steaks came first, and just sat there getting cold before the sides arrived, one at a time. Every other steakhouse I’ve been to, everything comes at once, that’s how it’s supposed to be. There were no condiments at the table: no sea salt or cracked pepper, we had to ask for those and I took them awhile to find some. They changed $3 per person for bread service, which is fine, but they just served two small dinner rolls at the beginning and they never brought any more. I never write bad reviews for restaurants because I used to own one and I know it’s a difficult business but if you are going to charge such prices, you should try and make a better effort to offer the high-end dining experience that come with it.
