Customer Review Summary
Geneva Steak is a no-frills neighborhood gem known for excellent meats at good prices. The steak is well-cooked and seasoned, with solid sides like baked potatoes and fresh salads, although some reviewers noted excessive dressing. The interior has a classic diner vibe but could use a remodel for a more inviting atmosphere. Service is fast and friendly, although the cafeteria-style setup and language barriers can detract from the experience. Parking in the area is problematic, but many diners appreciate the quality and value of the meals. Overall, it’s a clean, cozy spot with a simple menu that appeals to steak lovers seeking a good experience without high costs.

Interesting place. It is a typical neighborhood greasy spoon with Formica and vinyl booths serving excellent meats at good prices. My steak was very good and properly grilled. The salad was OK but lacking anything special and the dressing choice was ranch or thousand island. They put WAY too much dressing on it, so I suggest that you ask for dressing on the side. The baked potato was done right and then smothered in too much butter. I didn't ask for sour cream, but they probably had it. They offered jalapenos for everything. The toasted bread was surprisingly good. I sopped mine in the excess butter. Overall a good meal at a fair price in a clean place. I would give them higher marks if it wasn't for the salad. The feeling of the place isn't that inviting either, it could use an upgrade, remodel and renewal. Table service would be nice instead of the cafeteria style they use. Their English wasn't great, but they really aimed to please. Nice, hard working guys. Note that parking in the neighborhood is problematic at best.

Friendly, fast and affordable. Had T-Bone medium rare cooked right, excellent Talapia, and Shrimp. Perfect food, humble and warm atmosphere.

Right on the corner of Mission and Geneva I found Geneva Steak. I walked into the dining room and looking at the seating reminded me of a classic restaurant with red leather booths all around. I look at the menu on the wall and went for the French Burger, the order included a green salad and my choice of baked potato or rice pilaf. The burger was cooked fresh to order and while my order was being prepared I started with the salad, fresh iceberg lettuce, sliced carrots, red onions, peppers, tomatoes and ranch dressing, the French Burger came soon after, the plate was served by the Chef, a rectangular large bun that was soft and expertly toasted on the grill, usual burger setup, and the baked potato was split in half with melted butter on top. I was happy with the quality of the ingredients definitely a bargain for $13.99. The restaurant specializes on steaks, kabobs and bbq chicken. They have a selection of soft drinks, beers on tap, bottle beer. The place was clean and nice service all around.

Great no frills steak house in the neighborhood. Very simple but to the point menu. Asked for a very rare steak, came through and was well seasoned and of good quality. 2 steak meals with beer is $60, which is a great value! Interior design is humble and welcoming. Feels like you are transported to a movie set in the early 70s or 80s. My only notes: drafts appear to be misaligned. Beer tasted a little flat. Would definitely come here again, and recommend others to try it too.

I liked it: firstly, there are few people here, it’s quiet, cozy, there’s no fuss or loud music, the fan is working, it’s clean, the service is fast. secondly, it’s quite tasty: fresh vegetables in the salad, properly cooked steak to order. Thank you.

Ordered a club steak that was cooked perfectly medium rare and perfectly seasoned. Service is ok. The price point for the food is definitely a lot lower than most steak places. A hidden jewel in San Francisco.

Meat and potato. Geneva Steakhouse is a basic, no thrills, cafeteria style restaurant with adequate food portions for a hungry human. This establishment reminded me of the old Tad's Steaks back when it was on Powell St. Missing is that aromatic charcoal grill smell when you first walk-in. Once inside, I tried to order some ribs at the counter but it was not available. New York steak $21 it is then. My included salad was freshly prepared by the line chef and placed on a cafeteria tray. We both moved down the counter where I paid and tipped in advance. My steak arrived in about 10 minutes. This is good because I have a limited amount of time for my work lunch hour. The steak tasted fine. It was overcooked but retained some juice. The potato could have used some bacon, cheese, chives or sour cream and not just butter. I didn't leave hungry and that's always a good thing. Well done staff at Geneva Steakhouse.

Good square meal and great value for money. Steaks are done right, not over cooked or over seasoned. Nice portions with fresh salad too. Nice neighborhood fixture.
