About Prime Cut Steak & Seafood - steak house in San Diego, California

Customer Review Summary

Prime Cut Steak & Seafood offers an upscale dining experience with a pleasant atmosphere featuring a live piano player. Service is generally praised, although there have been instances of slow attention from staff. Food quality varies; some dishes like the porterhouse steak and desserts receive high marks, while others, particularly the sea bass and burgers, suffer from blandness and lack of seasoning. Drinks and cocktails are well-received, and the restaurant has a decor that enhances the overall dining experience, including nice views of the valley. Although some guests report enjoyable meals, several express disappointment regarding flavor, leading to mixed reviews about whether they would return for another visit. The casino setting can be off-putting for some due to smoke, but once in the restaurant, guests appreciate the ambiance and service.

My wife and I have been coming to Jamul casino to enjoy their gaming machines for a while now. While we usually don't eat here other than maybe a snack or drink from the food court but last night we were both hungry. The place feels very upscale and the live piano player was a nice touch. The service from the hostess, to wait staff, to buss-boy were all great! The bread and sea-salt butter they bring you is good. We split a wedge salad and I ordered a cup of their butternut squash soup, both were tasty. I spotted a wagyu burger on the menu and sounded good. My wife ordered wagyu Bolognese. When the waitress returned she actually mentioned how good their burger was before I ordered and I commented how that was great because that's what I was going to order. When the food arrived, it was bland. It was edible, but lacked seasoning. I thought it was just my burger & I didn't say anything. When I asked how her pasta was, my wife said "it's ok" and I had to try it. Same. Lack of seasoning and bland. I don't know if they afraid of spices in the kitchen or what. A shame really because the food quality was there. Beef on the burger was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. It had potential to be great! Pasta was beautiful and perfect presentation as you can see in the pictures, but just nothing there for the taste buds. I will say the parmesan fries that came with the burger were delicious though! I know... it's a steak house. Maybe we'll have to go back to order a steak, but the couple at the table next to us had to ask for steak sauce after they tried the first few bite and that's never a good sign.

Amazing night out at Prime Cur steakhouse in Jamul. I started my night off with a few craft cocktails and followed that with a double of Komos reposado tequila, which paired excellently with my coute de bouf and sides. The drinks, the food, and the atmosphere were all exceptional as well as the service. The bartender Caroline killed it and she had stellar recommendations for me! Would come back again just for drinks and dinner.

Our main issue was having to walk through the cigarette smoke filled casino to get to the restaurant. Once there the atmosphere cleared. They have a dedicated bar with TV's and you can order food from there. The drinks were ample, innovative and tasty. We sat in the restaurant which is typical of an upscale steakhouse. Very comfortable chairs, interesting decor and lighting. Great views of the valley to the south. The appetizers were great. We had the beet salad and the chowder. My wife had the seabass and it was excellent. I had the porterhouse which was quite thin but possibly the most tender steak I've had recently. The dessert Trolley was extensive and had lots of special treats. We got the chocolate cake which was delicious.

I've been here many times and the food is exceptional. For some reason, last night...it was very bland in some areas, yet still good. The service was decent but had to flag down our server a few times instead of her checking in on us.

Amazing food cooked to perfection. Lobster tail buffet brunch done right! The atmosphere is beautiful and elegant. There's an omelet station as well. We were treated to these amazing desserts not served with buffet. Very friendly and attentive staff. Will be back for more.

Our server was great. Beautiful views, modern decor, piano player and food presentation made for a nice upscale ambience. Unfortunately, I ordered the Sea Bass and it lacked flavor and seasoning. The fish was nicely cooked but the quinoa and sauce seemed plain with no salt. We ordered oysters for our appetizer, and they were just ok. We ordered a filet mignon as well, which was also just ok. The creme brulee for dessert was delicious. Overall, the food was not memorable and would not order any of it again. We were grateful that the meal was comped as we would have been disappointed to pay the steak house prices for this meal. I'd be happy to give them a try again, but I would choose other menu items next time.

Awesome lobster brunch with great service, delicious food and nice view. The prime rib was too rare but there was plenty of good food. We both had the Connundrum red wine and that was delicious as well.

I used to do restaurant reviews on the radio, so it will take on that style. Spending the weekend in the area and wanted to take my wife out to a nice place. Would I come back: Maybe. GOOD: We came at 8:30 pm on a rainy Saturday. Was seated quickly, it was a beautiful high class environment inside, well decorated. Entertainment was good, one man on a single grand piano and singing. I liked the plates/bowls, for me they had a very large rim, which kept me from making any mess on me or the table. Food was great and very tasty. Comments: Having done restaurant reviews, I have expectations. Almost walked out due to the feeling of being ignored. It took 43 minutes to order and only about 1/3 to ½ of the tables had customers. Can not recommend this place, yet. I do try a restaurant up to three times after having a problem on the first try; everyone is entitled to have an off night.
