Lou & Mickey’s in San Diego is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal with exceptional service. From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in creating a positive experience for every guest. Their freshly baked bread... let me just say—it was incredible. The crust had just the right amount of crunch, while the inside was soft and airy. Paired with rich, creamy butter, it set the tone for what was to come. The star of the meal was the steak, and it was cooked perfectly to the requested temperature. It’s always a treat to cut into a steak and see it exactly how you imagined it. The flavor was spot on—simple, yet full of depth, letting the quality of the meat shine through. The service truly elevated the experience. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, striking a great balance between being helpful and giving us space to enjoy our meal. It’s refreshing to see a team that clearly cares about their guests and pays attention to the little details. Overall, Lou & Mickey’s delivered a fantastic dining experience. From the delicious food to the attentive service, everything came together seamlessly. It’s definitely a place worth visiting if you’re in San Diego.

Had lunch on the patio. Ask to sit at a booth. They are the best tables for people watching. Had the Parker House rolls (a must to start), Shrimp Louie (delicious, jumbo shrimp), Octopus a la plancha (cooked perfectly but wasn't my favorite), and the Fish n Chips (in my top 2 in San Diego!! Very moist, flavorful, and plentiful!), and cheesecake was light, airy, and we ate every last bite! Now, while the food and atmosphere were great, there are so many options in SD! I always say that even if the food is good, people go back to a restaurant for the service, and that is 100% why I'd go back to Lou & Mickey's. Jeff M was our server, and not only did he have great menu suggestions (food AND drink), but he took the time to show us (being first-timers) to the dry-aged room and explained what they carry. He was super knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant, even told us fun facts, like the bar being made of an airplane (very cool)! Jeff was attentive, entertaining, funny, but not annoying. He dropped in to check on us appropriately, but didn't overstay, nor did he rush us. I'll definitely be back to try some dry aged steaks with Jeff M!!

Good dinner, food was good but not great. We ate here couple years ago and remembered how much we enjoyed it. So we decided to come dine here again while in San Diego. Calamari was over done(almost burnt) I ordered pasta and the waitress said she recommend it. It was okay. The steak was good. Overall we might come try it again.

I had a lunch and a dinner here. Both were splendid. There was seemingly 2 mignonette s for the oysters. Both wonderful, one a bit more tangy. The clam chowder was rick and delicious. Perfectly meaty. The onion soup was certainly excellent. The Cajun blackened strip Steak was perfectly prepared and certainly a pallet pleaser!

Lou & Mickey's, located at San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter, is a classic American steakhouse known for its prime steaks and choice seafood. During my visit, I enjoyed the Smoked Turkey Club, which was flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant offers a timeless dining experience in a relaxing and inviting environment.

Ordered the grass fed rib eye but they were out, so had the filet mignon. My companions all had the other rib eye option. We had the fried calamari as a starter, very good. Steaks were tender and cooked to how we requested, it was seasoned perfectly not over done or under. Our sides were all very good as well, mushrooms were a highlight. Broccolini and fries were as expected nothing exceptional. The desserts were just as amazing, creme brûlée and the cheesecake delish!

Right now, my absolute favorite crabcakes I've ever had. They are loaded thick with crab, and no bread filler. the grilled lemon juice on the side elevates it even more. The service is really good, especially Jessica at the bar area!
