About Grove Steakhouse - steak house in San Diego, California

Elegant yet relaxed dining room with standard American steakhouse fare plus sides & a wine list.

Customer Review Summary

Grove Steakhouse offers an impressive dining experience with amazing food and attentive service. The ambiance, characterized by high ceilings and fireplaces, enhances the dining experience, although some feel the new location lacks intimacy compared to the old one. Menu highlights include the smoked salmon bagel, crab benedict, filet mignon, and seafood linguine, all praised for their flavor. Brunch on weekends is a notable addition, and drinks are reasonably priced, with bartenders receiving commendations. While many reviews celebrate its quality and service, there are complaints about a decline in food quality and inconsistent experiences, particularly with a disappointing New Year’s dinner. Despite mixed feedback, Grove Steakhouse is highly recommended for its gourmet dishes and attentive staff.

If you haven't been to the new Grove Steakhouse, you need to! Aside from being the best value in SoCal, it's the most amazing food to be found. It's true that the high ceilings make it much more spacious feeling and some would say a bit less intimate, but it is also not nearly as loud as the old location which the makes it more intimate as far as I'm concerned. The fireplaces really add to the ambiance and they have room for large parties now. The best addition is the weekend brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Amazing! There isn't a bad option on the menu. Smoked salmon bagel with a twist or crab benedict or steak and eggs...you can't go wrong with the food. The bartenders (shout out to Kendall and Drew!) Margaritas, long islands, martinis, etc. are all super delicious and very reasonably priced. The servers and waitstaff (Joseph, Chuy, Anthony, and Alex) and all top shelf. Rafael, don't ever stop doing what you do! You run a tight ship, and your aim for perfection shows. Thank you all for showing up every day and showcasing your skills!

Spectacular steakhouse located inside viejas casino. This fine dining restaurant accepts reservations and walk-ins. Has multiple fireplaces which makes the experience even more romantic. The service here was impeccable with waitstaff tending to all needs (food allergies), refilling water/drinks immediately, never having to flag anyone down. Now to the food, we got the brussel sprouts, filet mignon, porterhouse steak, lobster Mac and cheese, and calamari fried with jalapeños. Everything was bursting with flavor. They even gave us sorbet to cleanse our palate in between dishes. This upscale restaurant is a MUST.

The Grove steakhouse recently relocated within the casino, now occupying the space where the old buffet used to be. Unfortunately, this new location lacks the romantic and intimate atmosphere it once had. The large, open space feels more like a repurposed buffet area rather than a high-end steakhouse. While the food remains impressive, the move to a less intimate location lacks the ambiance one would expect for the price, making it a less appealing option despite the good food and service.

My Bae surprised me with dinner at Grove Restaurant for my Birthday on April 7th. The decor is very modern with clean lines and beautiful textures. The food and service were topnotch! We had a couple of appetizers with the braised short ribs and grilled Bison Ribeye entrees. Everything was cooked perfectly and well seasoned! Our waiter JoJo was Awesome! If you are looking for an alternative to Fleming's or Morton's, Grove Steakhouse at Viejas is a smart choice. $$$$

The Grove Steakhouse beats out all others! My wife and I had a night of delicious seafood and incredible service. We have now tried every fine dining restaurant located inside a Southern California casino, and the Grove beats them all. My reviews don’t come often, but they are read by the masses. The seafood linguine was over the top delicious, the calamari was served with fried jalapeno slices that were perfectly spiced. We were served a free pallet cleanser in between each course. The Grove Steakhouse inside Viejas Casino is #1 after tonight!

Went on New Year's evening and was extremely disappointed, especially after paying almost $400.00 (including the tip). Steak was tough, brussel sprouts and asparagus tasted like leftovers. Water is off tasting so had to purchase bottled Evian. Waitress wanted to disagree with me about lip prints all around the rim of my champagne glass. Baked potato was underdone. Espresso was bitter. Lobster was dry and salty. Quality has gone downhill in the past couple of years. I have been occasionally dining her over the past 10 years but will not return
