Had an amazing dinner at Butcher and Barrel, hands down the best steakhouse in Sacramento! Ordered the filet mignon steak and a crab cake—both were absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender, and full of flavor, while the crab cake was perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with fresh, rich crab meat. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Every bite was a treat, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more. If you’re in Sacramento and craving a fantastic steakhouse experience, Butcher and Barrel is the place to go!

My wife and I had dinner here while my kids were skating next door at the ice rink. We eat Halal and this place serves creekstone beef (which is halal) so we decided to try it. We shared a steak sandwich and a bunch of sides. The steak sandwich was a little tough to eat; great flavor but the meat wasn't tender enough to work in a sandwich. The mash and bake potatoes were fine but nothing special. The crab cakes were pretty good. The roasted vegetables were horrible; this dish was so bad that it probably cause me to lower the rating from 4 to 3 stars. I might try this place again just to give them another shot and order a proper creekstone steak without any sides.

I heard about butcher and barrel on the radio and had to try it especially with there amazing reviews and let me tell you, THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! I made a reservation for 645 and showed up a little early and they took me and my wife straight to our table with no wait! The food was to die for, even the little things like the brussel sprouts me and my wife couldn't stop talking about how delicious every single thing was. I'm not much of a reviewer but had to give a big shout out to Matt and everyone at butcher and barrel for a perfect night!

We made advanced reservations for a party of 12 through the website at Butcher and Barrel and the owner immediately texted and went out of his way to be helpful. The party was after scattering my dad‘s ashes on the bay and Kevin was very accommodating. It was a little hard to find, but I blame that on Waze. Parking was a somewhat challenging, but it was downtown after all. The atmosphere was casual and friendly. The management had set a table up for us in a “quieter” corner; I say quieter because it was a little loud. Not in a bad way; a lot of friendly laughter and chatter, but not conducive to quiet conversation if you’re looking for an intimate evening. But that is the only non-positive thing I have to say! The service was exceptional, the food choices were varied and exquisite, the drink service was great (which accounted for our $100+ per person), and each guest in our party was delighted with their entrée. Butcher and Barrel will be around for a long time, but don’t wait to dine there. Highly recommended.

Server was great. I had an Old Fashion which was very good. My meal was the bone marrow and the Duck (see pic) the bone marrow was great but unfortunately my duck plate sat under a warmer for way too long. The drizzle sauce was dried to the plate and the duck was overcooked. Overall it was a nice experience but I wish the food was better.

Did takeout and we were expecting some great eats but unfortunately this didn't hit the spot. The prime rib sandwich was really dry and the meat tasted old? The pasta was not bad, lots of mushroom flavors that was really nice. The fried goat cheese croquette wasn't bad either! The grilled lamb Lollipop was a bit overcooked for a few pieces and was quite dry. But the flavors were good! It looked pretty busy in there, and we hope we can dine in next time for a better experience!

We are not from Sacramento and generally try to avoid coming here. We typically visit about three or four times a year for errands or business and try different places each time. None of them have ever been particularly memorable, often leading to the question, "What was the name of that place again?" However, Butcher and Barrel is a standout spot that we look forward to on our trips. It is a bit pricey, but we didn't mind spending on this little date tucked away at the end of our trip, conveniently located near our hotel. We tried the spare ribs and lobster bisque, and we would definitely order them again. The hostess was conversational, pleasant, and exceptional. Initially, we were seated between two larger groups and immediately noticed the noise from the other parties, but she promptly moved us to a quieter area. Marcos, our waiter, was also great and made our experience enjoyable. Kevin, who stopped by to chat about our experience, was engaging and genuine. While I wouldn’t usually say a place is worth a drive from Reno, Butcher and Barrel might be worth considering if given the chance.

Great food and atmosphere! We happened to be in town for business and decided to stop here since we were in downtown already. We were literally the only ones in the restaurant on a Friday at 2:30pm lol so that was great for us. Hostess was great and attentive, our server/ bartender was amazing. I haven't had service that great in Sacramento ever. This restaurant is worth the prices forsure. Great service and food comes at a great price. I love when places do gratuity charge for the chefs. A lot of people are offput by that but chefs do a lot of the work and don't typically get tipped, and it literally was like only 5%. I feel like you know it's a good restaurant with good workers and owners when they operate like this. Cocktails were super strong I needed a sprite on the side lol but not complaining. Every appetizer was amazing, we were going to go to with steak for the main course but it was our lunch so we were feeling more of a burger vibe. It was very good. Can't wait to come back again to try the steak. Only thing I wouldn’t get again would be the bread service.
