The Embers

Stopped for breakfast on Weds, 2/9 after taking cat to the vet. I had the pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage breakfast and the food was excellent, especially the sausages, but everything was very flavorful! My Aunt had the waffles breakfast and also loved her food as well. We will be going back when in Pinole and we both definitely recommend!

So disappointed. Last time here years ago & it was not good. Family members said it was good now & they’re super picky. How do you mess up a patty melt. A piece of bland meat with tasteless cheese slapped between 2 pieces of sourdough bread! No grilled onions & I had said yes to that, No toasty, crunchy rye bread? That was not a party melt no traditional crunchy dill pickle & cheap little frozen fries that were not hot. Never ever returning. I had 2 bites & pushed it away. Aweful!

Half of our table received their food a good 5+ minutes before we received ours. And we had only ordered BLT’s. I ordered with a side of fruit and my mom ordered potato salad. For some reason I was charged an extra $2 for cantaloupe, why would I pay more for fruit that the included fries/potatoes? Never told me it would be an additional charge. I was surprised to see iceberg lettuce on the BLT which they didn’t even bother to cut properly so nothing even stayed inside the sandwich. My friends really didn’t enjoy their food either.

I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with hash browns and toast breakfast priced at $17. I had not been there for awhile because the last time was less than favorable and I wanted to give Embers a 2nd chance. Unfortunately, it was definitely no better. The Chicken Fried Steak was greatly overcooked and the gravy had the consistency of a light soup. Last time I went there they still had 4 half slices of toast and this time there's only 2 half slices of untoast, meaning that it was not actually toasted fully, so when the melted margarine was applied, the bread flopped over when handled. The only things good were the hash browns and iced tea. Way way overpriced for a restaurant that employs cooks that simply don't give a damn on what they serve.

The overweight server was extremely rude and ended up insulting me. They behave like they are paying you to eat at this place. Btw, I wasn't the only customer that was treated bad this day by the same guy. Everybody has a bad day, but this guy is cranky every single time. Please work on your employee's manner.

My breakfast was very good! Good size portion. Nice welcome in and great service, and it was really busy on a Sunday. Would’ve given 5 stars but windows by our table were really dirty. It’s not appetizing to look out. Keep the windows clean!!!
