Customer Review Summary

The food at Costero Bistro received mixed reviews. Dishes like the 12 oz Strip Loin and jerk spare ribs were praised for being excellent. However, many reviewers found the food mediocre and portions small, particularly the fish and chips. Service was criticized for being slow, particularly at payment time, with an automatic 20% tip added regardless of service quality. Lunch offerings were inconsistent, with cold and unseasoned dishes impacting the overall experience. Dinner ratings improved, with several pizzas and the taco salad receiving better feedback. Many guests noted issues with management decisions which impacted service, such as the cut in lunch hours. Despite some positive experiences, several reviewers advised against dining here due to high prices and poor service.

The food was excellent. I ordered the 12 oz Strip Loin with a local Mango wheat beer and it was delicious. The steak was grilled perfectly. My boys had and enjoyed the chicken wings and my wife had the nacho platter which was absolutely massive. The service was efficient but not when it came time to pay our bill. It took a very long time for the server to bring it to us. The food, though, was worth the few extra minutes for the bill.

The only reason to eat here is if you have no other options. The food is mediocre at best. The service is sloooooow. They add an automatic 20% tip because nobody would tip based on the service and quality of. Prices are typical for a hotel. Definitely not worth the money.

Rudely expensive and very small portions, I got a serve of fish and chips and got basically three fish nuggets, small handful of chips. Then I got a dessert and it was a small tea cup sized thing for $14 so inasked them to take it away and did not get charged. A 20% tip is automatically added to the bill even if you want to tip less or nothing, based on already expensive food or poor service; as I got, and wait time for food is very long. I do not recommend.

The food and cocktails were excellent. A must try appetizer is the jerk spare ribs and plantains.

Costero Bistro is located inside the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, they offer American fare with cocktails in a modern setting. We were a party of 6 and decided on lunch and dinner at the hotel. The great thing about being a bigger party is trying all the food. Sadly, during lunch because of the quantity of the food ordered, the quality had gone down. Lunch Barbacoa Nachos – 1/5 Came out first but the meat was cold, it was terrible Fish and Chips – 2/5 Boxed not fresh, missing the coleslaw that I saw on another pic. Barbacoa Tacos – 3/5 needed more seasoning Soy Glazed Salmon – 4/5 Only thing that came out steaming hot. Texas BBQ Burger – 3/5 too much BBQ sauce, fries were cold. Pasta Primavera – 3/5 not bad for a vegetarian dish Lunch rate 3/5 Dinner Old school Taco Salad – 4/5 delish, can add chicken but not steak Wild Mushroom pizza – 5/5 simple and delicious Spicy Italian Pizza – 4/5 came out hot but a bit salty Hawaiian BBQ Pizza – 4/5 Nice sweetness and tang Cesar Salad – 3/5 typical Simple green salad – 3/5 over dressed (Vinaigrette) – remember to ask for dressings on the side Dinner rating – 4/5

For the convenience of a hotel resturant, expect the uncharge on prices. Took a while once I was seated to even get a drink since it was their dinner rush, the server didn't really come in check in after the food arrived, just came to take the plate and ask if I wanted dessert. Did not get medium rare on the steak I asked for, but at least the creme brulee was decent I guess. Gratuity is automatic 20% so check your bill.

So, I got in from Florida around 12 and was looking forward to getting lunch at the hotel since I hadn't eaten since I took off at 6 am. Unfortunately, the amazing bartender Sergio had to tell me that no food was available until 4 pm. (He did manage to scrounge up some chips and salsa to tide me over until my Lyft arrived to take me to another restaurant.) Apparently, management thought that cutting lunch service was a good move. I sat at the bar for 45 minutes and watched him have to tell 7 people the kitchen wasn't open and several order food for delivery. Whoever made this decision should probably come hang out at the bar around lunch and see the results of your brilliant cost-cutting plan.
