Customer Review Summary
Buck & Rider Scottsdale receives high praise for its fantastic management and staff, with quick responses to any issues. The seafood is highlighted as some of the best in the Phoenix valley, known for its freshness and quality. Guests recommend trying the ceviche, fresh fish, and voodoo fried rice, which are standout dishes. The ambiance is described as beautiful and bustling, with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating options. However, some customers report inconsistent service, particularly at busy times, with instances of inattentiveness from bartenders and waitstaff. While some reviews note a great experience overall, a few highlight significant negative service encounters, particularly with specific waitstaff attitudes. Despite these mixed service experiences, many diners express strong satisfaction with the food, making it a favorite dining destination and a go-to for special occasions.

I cannot say enough good things about the management and staff at this location. We were celebrating with friends and a couple of our steaks came out well done instead of medium rare. They were quick to rectify the situation and our food was fantastic. Three different managers came to our table to apologize and in the end they went above and beyond in making sure our experience there was an enjoyable one. We’ve always loved Buck and Rider and highly recommend it!

Probably the best seafood anywhere in the Phoenix valley. Consistently top shelf in freshness and quality. The burger is also surprisingly good, and the fried rice had great wok hay aroma and heat! Even the chocolate cake was nice. Go at happy hour to enjoy the lower prices and then take your time to enjoy

Taste bud satisfaction! It is exactly what I didn't know I wanted after an 11hr drive. So grateful it was recommended. It was extremely busy and I get the impression it usually is...so I suggest making a reservation. We sat at the bar and the service was friendly but felt scattered with a couple different bartenders serving us but also not being fully present at times when we needed something. Catch 22 of being left alone and not smothered, but causing us to have to ask for things multiple times. (Like water and to order dinner). Overall though, even though I felt the bartenders could have been more attentive, the service was good. The food though...that is the highlight!! The shrimp ceviche came on a large platter and the shrimp were.jumbo prawns cut up. Extremely filling. The voodoo fried rice was absolutely divine. Such a unique combination of ingredients cooked to perfection. The flavor, the temperature, the presentation, all absolutely fabulous. I will crave that rice! I look forward to visiting again and have recommended the place to several people already who look forward to checking it out.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Arizona!! The ceviche is a MUST & I recommend ordering the fresh fish off the daily menu with their seasonal sides (pro tip: sometimes they run out of the fresh fish so get your order in fast or ask your waiter if they still have it available ). Sushi, crab cocktail, and oysters are always a go to for us too! We’ve probably dined here over 20 times. I always bring guests here too. 10/10 out of all Arizona restaurants I’ve dined at. The only thing is be ready to wait another 20-30 minutes to be seated after your reservation time. Otherwise, I’ve never had a bad experience here.

This may be our favorite of the Buck & Rider locations and one of a small number of go-tos for excellent, fine-dining seafood and a great atmosphere. We like everything about it: the steel-truss rafters with wood planking above and pinpoint lighting give the dining room a feel that is both airy and intimate. The restaurant is always bustling and busy but the sound level doesn’t hinder conversation and the tables are well-spaced. We also love the energy of the open kitchen and raw bar, which radiates into the space. We haven’t dined at the bar yet, but it looks like great fun. The outdoor patio is also spacious, lit with strings of Edison bulbs, and anchored by a huge pass-through fireplace with roaring fire. On our most recent visit we enjoyed four different oysters from the raw bar, and ceviche, which was tasty and generous. The fresh seafood choices are always excellent, as is the service.

I tried two appetizers and a side. The baked oysters were fresh and delicious. It was a nice combination of smoky and crunchy. The trout dip knocked my socks off. It was amazing, and I'll go back for these two dishes again! The place smelled good inside. It was clean, and the service was fast.

Walked in to a freezing restaurant. The ambiance was beautiful, the hostesses were nice, the woman who sat us at our tables was charming. My experience with my waitress was extremely unacceptable. When the waitress saw that my group didn’t order alcoholic drinks, she visibly expressed disappointment and annoyance. While putting in our drink orders, a couple of my party asked for soups, since it was so cold. I mentioned to hold off on them since my entire party hadn’t arrived yet. A few minutes later, we were still served soups. I promptly asked to not have them served yet since my full party hadn’t arrived. We were given a very visible snarky attitude as a result. We asked for waters with no ice. The water was actually WARM and then the waitress mocked my group saying you must be out of town. Do AZ restaurants usually serve warm water? No. Afterward, my waitress didn’t bring me the hot water I asked for (asked three times). Finally, two soups were brought back, not three. I had to ask the waitress for my soup. When it came, it was cold. At this point, the service was so bad that I bluntly mentioned it to my waitress that we didn’t appreciate her attitude. Every time something was mentioned, she doubled down. At that point, I just told her I didn’t want the clam chowder and to take the soup back, as it had nasty with a film on top (see pics and video). She had the nerve to bring it back and it was literally boiling still, clearly having been thrown into a microwave (see pic). What seemed like the manager came to check on my group, he apologized for my soup experience, and I mentioned to him that the service was atrocious and unacceptable, then he simply walked away, unwilling to listen. My group at that point asked for the bill and never even put in an entree order. Absolutely awful experience. This was absurd.

Very busy Sunday brunch, we sat indoors. Great ambiance. Ordered a 50% off bottle of processo for our fresh grapefruit Mimosas. Shared a scrumptious smoked trout dip. Very yummy. Swordfish tacos were a bit underwhelming but still tasty. Nothing that a few splashes of green Tabasco sauce couldn’t fix. 😉 Also ordered crab cake Eggs Benedict with a lightly poached egg. Loved it after salting it a bit. Food was just bland this am. All in all still a great brunch. I’ll be going back to try the raw bar.
