About 4 Bulls at Dillard's - steak house in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Customer Review Summary
The transition from Dillard's Chophouse to 4 Bulls has been met with disappointment from many diners. Several reviews mention a significant downgrade in both food quality and menu options, particularly noting the lack of available items. Experiencing cold, tough barbecue and poorly executed appetizers left some patrons frustrated, as did long waits for service and lack of communication about menu changes. However, there are instances of positive reviews highlighting excellent food and attentive service, especially from staff members like Kevin. Overall, while some enjoyed their meals and the atmosphere, a notable number encountered major issues with food quality, availability, and service consistency.

I made reservations 2-3 weeks before my daughter’s birthday when it was still Dillard’s Chophouse. I received a text 2 hours before our reservation telling me the restaurant had changed ‘format’. It is now an expensive bbq restaurant. We tried to start with appetizers and were informed that they didn’t have the shrimp, oysters, or bacon for the appetizers or any other selection. They had a couple of steaks on the menu but no toppers other than butter available. We had three people in our party order steaks but there were no side items that would compliment a steak. The bbq (brisket and pork) were cold and the brisket was tough and dry. I left 90% of the brisket untouched. The potato casseroles were really just mashed potatoes. The waitress was nice and apologetic for not having so many items. Very disappointed with the lack of notification of the change AND the bad food.

They changed Dillards Chophouse to a basic bbq joint. They just did a favor for every other nice restaurant in the area because this place is gonna give those restaurants more business. Not only is the food unbelievably below average and a HUGE downgrade from the previous restaurant, but its also pricey!! Also, to my knowledge, the restaurant randomly changed their menu and continued to stay open despite being out of multiple items. Would not recommend. It would astonish me if this place lasts more than a month.

While spending a few days in Tuscaloosa with a cheerleading team from Carrollton Georgia, myself & a Coworker came to Dillard's Chophouse. It was highly recommended from a friend of mine. To start with we ordered the Chopped Salad. Very fresh Greens & a few extra tasty things. For our main entrées we had the Filet Mignon & The Dry Age Pekin Duck. Our sides were Truffle Parmesan Rissoto & Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Everything was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly!! For dessert, we both had The Berry Fool, which consisted of a Blackberry Parfait & Blackberry Compote, with Whipped Cream. Very tasty! Our amazing server was Kevin. He was very polite, professional & helpful describing the menu items for us. If you visit Tuscaloosa & are looking for fabulous dining experience, go to Dillard's & ask for Kevin. I will be back.....

I reserved a table for my husband’s birthday which so happens to be Valentine’s Day. Not only did I wait what felt like forever for someone to greet me but when that server did his first words were “our kitchen is closed”. No empathy demonstrated whatsoever. They didn’t even notify me about the cancellation. My experience with Dillards Chophouse ,4 bulls or whatever they want to go by in Birmingham AL was absolutely HORRIBLE.

We ordered two plates of calamari as appetizers and both were drastically over salted. Our first order of Caesar salad was completely soaked with dressing and liquid, the second ended up being the exact same way and we determined they were pre-frozen before being served. The steaks were also over salted. The asparagus side was the only thing of our entire table that was not overly salty. We ran through the water to compensate for the foods taste. overall I would say it was a piss poor showing of quality in Tuscaloosa. Drinks were solid and our waitress was incredible! This woman should get a raise as she knew the food being served was questionable. There were many complaints about the salad this night according to her. I honestly felt bad for her. We spent a solid amount and wouldn’t do it again.

The food was excellent, and so was their service food. In a surprising twist, my wife and I were shocked with how great the drinks were. I recommend Dillard's to anyone looking for fine dining in the Tuscaloosa area.

For the love of God, just close down, i took my wife there tonight for her cancer free dinner celebration. And the waitstaff said we pretty much have nothing for food because you haven't had any food delivery's in weeks. Just close the doors if you don't have the food to run the restaurant. Such a joke, the owner should be ashamed of himself.

Took the wife one night during a weekend when the Tide were away. Good food, clean environment. Wait staff was polite and offered good recommendations. Wedge salad was very good! Steak was well prepared and the brussel sprouts alone are worth coming back for. Was also greeted by a manager named "Helly" I think.(Maybe Kelly)....nice lady. We will be back to see Helly and her staff again. 🙃
