About Tom Brown's Restaurant - Huntsville - steak house in Huntsville, Alabama
Customer Review Summary
The restaurant Tom Brown's in Huntsville received mixed reviews during a New Year's Eve visit. While some patrons appreciated the high-quality food, noting that the lobster bisque and lamb shanks were particularly excellent, others expressed frustration with long wait times for service and food delivery. One review highlighted a delightful dessert experience, with creative presentations, while another noted that the prices were high, making it more suitable for special occasions rather than regular dining. The overall atmosphere and decor were praised, contributing to an enjoyable dining experience. Some reviews appreciated the spacious seating and attentive service, but others felt that music choices and certain dishes, like pork belly, were lacking. A few diners noted that while the food was enjoyable, the wait times could be improved, especially during busy periods.

Decided to splurge for nye We made reservations for 7pm a few weeks in advance and got there at 6:50pm When we walked in, but the lobby was full of people. We told the hostess that we were there and we had a reservation and she told us she would call us in just a few moments. That ended up being 30 minutes. We overheard the hostess tell another couple that there was a longer wait because people were staying after their meal. At 7:32 we ordered our food , I got the lobster bisque and my date got the bison. At 8:05 , they brought us a small tin with a ramekin of butter and 2 very dense, half dollar sized rolls. By 8:35 we were starting to get pretty irritated. We made reservations and ordered immediately and we still had no food. They right at the food shortly after, and this soup was DIVINE. Their version of a "bowl" is maybe 10oz so after a few bites I went ahead and ordered a second bowl ( anticipating another long wait) After 20 min, we decided to go ahead and also put in our dessert order because it was approaching 9p.i figured my soup would come any second. My dessert came out ten min later, and then our server came to tell me that the kitchen " just got" my soup order and they were out of the soup. .... That I had ordered 30 min prior . The dessert was also great so no companies on the food quality, but clearly they didn't anticipate New Years EVe being a busy night, or that when you take 30 min to bring food out, that light slow down the front 🤷♀️

What an amazing meal experience it was 😍 Our starters were the Mean Green Egg Rolls and Steamed Pei Mussels and oh were they wonderful. When we didn't think it could get any better we were wrong. We ordered the Lamb Shanks and that bad boy was falling off the bone and so tender. With its sides of garlic mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables it was quite the perfect dish 🤌🏼 it's presentation was also fantastic 😍 As full as we were we HAD to try their desserts! Now this was one my favorite parts of the whole experience- asking to see the dessert menu only for our waiter to come back out with the actual desserts to look at and choose from. Bravo to this place on that- what a clever idea! Anyways- we eyed and chose the Chocolate Cake (with ice cream!) and were VERY happy with our choice! The warmth of the cake with the cool of the ice cream was pure joy in food form. Loved. It 👏🏼 The whole restaurant itself is adorably decorated and full of so many fun surprises. The seating was incredibly comfortable and the service over all was excellent. We will definitely be back 🤗

Was a little weary because I am thrifty and don’t normally spend a lot eating out. 2 entrees, 3 cocktails and 1 dessert came out to $200. The quality and taste of the food was on point. Party of 4 and we all tried each others dishes, everything was delicious. The service was great, staff all very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Loved the atmosphere, very well decorated, table spaced out well, no overly loud music.

Fantastic food but be prepared to spend an arm and a leg. Seafood pasta, and the steak tips with a drink for myself and the wife, with tip was $200. I was happy, the food was delicious, perfectly cooked, but know this is a special meal. That said I recommend not eating at the bar. The chairs are a bit short so you feel like a kid at the big kids table

Was a very enjoyable experience. This would be a place to dine for a special occasion or Celebration. Not affordable on a daily basis. The King salmon was perfectly prepared for me, unfortunately they go by portion weight, so my daughter-in-law's was slightly overcooked. The scallops were perfectly cooked, loaded potato was great. The steaks ordered by other members of the party were cooked as ordered, juicy, tender and very flavorful. You will not need any "steak sauce" with these steaks. We did order pork belly and firecracker shrimp as appetizers. Received 5 extra jumbo shrimp cooked appropriately covered with a hot sauce. The pork belly was disappointing, was a little on the dry side. We finished the evening with the carrot cake for dessert. The slice is definitely large enough to share 2 or 3 ways. It was fantastic, perfect end to a wonderful meal

Fantastic experience! The open floor plan provided extra room between tables so we didn’t have to a part of other people’s conversations! The service was “spot on”. The food and drinks were awesome too! Would and have recommended to my friends and family (that enjoy higher priced dining experiences!)

Overall a good experience with excellent service from the entire staff. Their price point says exclusive, high-end dinner restaurant, but the 1980s music videos weren't what I expected. Menu choices are wide and varied from appetizers through desserts. Portion sizes are quite ample. Fish choices are fresh and flavorful. Also have several choices for toppings and supplemental sides. Couscous is very good but baked potato is ok. Scallops were superb and fried shrimp were ok. Plating and presentation were good.

My friend and I ate here for dinner last night. wow, what an amazing experience! We were seated right at the time of our reservation at a beautiful table right by the window which reflected all of the chandeliers. Such interesting decor, I loved being in the middle of it. Our waiter, Alex was amazing.. He told us about all of the specials and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We asked for our food a special way, no garlic, light salt and it was delivered promptly and exactly the way we ordered it.. We ordered Fried Green tomatoes and a salad than He had Sea Bass, I had the Hawaiian fish.( I can't remember the name of it) we also ordered 2 desserts to go. Bourbon Pecan pie and molten lava cake. Yum! Amazing food, beautiful presentation, great music was playing while we ate, (not too loud, which is huge for me) perfect ambience, excellent waiter. We're definitely coming back! Way to go Tom, you nailed it!
