I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The place is immaculately clean and well-maintained, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The service was outstanding—the staff was friendly, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. Now, let’s talk about the food! The steak was the juiciest and most flavorful I’ve ever had, cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite was tender and packed with incredible taste. The drinks were excellent, well-crafted, and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, this restaurant exceeded all expectations. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!

The staff was very nice, a really great ambiance. The food was very, very good. The actual owner was there assisting people and ensuring if we need anything to let him know. My wife and I always try to support black businesses, and 1799 is really a must visit. I do recommend 1799. My wife has already booked us for the Sunday Jazz brunch

We went to 1799 Prime Steak & Seafood to celebrate my dad’s birthday, and it was a mixed bag. The Good: The appetizers were amazing! We got crispy calamari, wings, and the crab and avocado tower, plus salads. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The steaks were the real stars—both my parents loved theirs, and my husband couldn’t stop raving about the lamb chops. The ambiance was nice, and they added thoughtful touches, like a birthday card and a free dessert for my dad, which was really sweet. The Not-So-Good: The drinks were underwhelming—my dad mentioned that his was watered down. The patrons who were seated next to us shared our sentiments. The entrees were hit or miss. I had branzino, and my cousin had the blackened snapper, and both were overcooked and under-seasoned. The sides were a mixed bag too—mac and cheese was great, the mashed potatoes were bland, and the spinach was good but nothing special. All in all, it’s a decent spot if you’re focused on steaks, but the rest of the experience didn’t really wow me. I don’t think I’d go back, but I’m glad we gave it a try!

We came to celebrate my son’s 30th birthday because we heard good things about the restaurant. It is a nice Black owned establishment. The food was good, the atmosphere was nice and the service at the bar and restaurant was good. The food portions were ample and the bartender made delicious mock tails, as we don’t drink alcohol. Our server in the dining room was excellent. There were several reasons I rated the restaurant a four star instead of a five. The best items were off-menu. The lamb entree, and the combination seafood entree (crab, shrimp, and salmon). This being a steakhouse the steaks were average not what we expected. The power in the restaurant flickered in and out a few times. The tables rocked and needed balancing. The hostess stressed a 90 min seating, felt a bit rushed, yet we received our all our main courses at about 75 mins, all dishes were not served at the same time, and final check at 120 mins. I would recommend for a special occasion.

It was our first time visiting 1799 and it was a great experience. The food was excellent. We ordered the grilled brie as the appetizer and it was so good served on a cracker. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband had the NY strip. Both were excellent. His steak was grilled perfectly. He had the bread pudding for dessert and I had the blueberry creme brulee (seasonal) Food was great and will definitely be back. Entering the restaurant was interesting because you have to walk through the bar before getting to the restaurant part but also the hostess station is across the restaurant (not far since the restaurant is on the smaller side but needs to be noted for first time people) Overall, such a great experience. Our server was great and very attentive. He was quick with refills for drinks and checked in with us often. Will definitely be back.

The food is amazing 🤩 and the service is great ❤️ I went with my girlfriends the first time and then for my 4th wedding anniversary in which they had a personalized card waiting for us on our table to wish us happy anniversary it was such a nice touch y'all know your girl loves to feel special 💖 Check them out and tell them Hunny sent you!

Celebrated my birthday here. Ordered the Tomahawk steak at $130 and for that price I expected it to be phenomenal but it wasn’t. Service was so-so, the owner came by to greet and converse with us but strangely acted as if I wasn’t there. Overall the experience left something to be desired.

I wanted to treat my brother to a Christmas dinner out somewhere new (to us). We found this spot on Google, perused the menu and decided this was it. Really like the history behind it as well. We dined early Friday evening, 12/20/24. Pros: Food and cocktails were very good. We had the shrimp ceviche, fried green tomatoes, prime rib (split between us), au gratin potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. Red velvet cheesecake special for dessert. Mids: Service was ok. Not someone we could have a conversation with/shoot the sh*t with. Seemed disinterested. Two things he did that put us off was taking the roll in the basket away before asking if we were done (we weren't) and he didn't tell us something we wanted on the menu wasn't available until we asked for it. I understand it's Christmas and parties are popular right now, but they hosted an extremely loud Christmas party. Happy that I wasn't on a date because it would ruin any romantic moments. Cons: Bad smell when initially walked into dining area (like a bathroom). The Christmas music was too loud and ruined the ambience. If it were instrumental, that would be fine, but it was pop (Jackson 5, Kelly Clarkson, R&B, etc). Knives were dull which made it difficult to cut the prime rib. Heard the couple behind us ask for another knife because of this. TLDR: Overall 3/5. Wasn't awful, but will not be returning.
