Customer Review Summary
Sakura Japanese Steakhouse offers a lively dining experience with food prepared in front of guests. While the ambiance and food quality are praised, long waits for seating and inattentive hostesses have been noted as issues. The sushi, especially the "Jade" roll, is highlighted as exceptional, alongside positive reviews of the hibachi meals. Although some reviews mention frustrating wait times of up to two hours, many diners still find the food and overall experience worth it. The restaurant attracts large crowds but may benefit from better customer service and management of wait times. Overall, despite some service shortcomings, guests express a strong appreciation for the quality of food and the enjoyable atmosphere.

We sat at the tables where they make food right in front of you. It was a good show and good food. Beautiful restaurant. They have different menus in the steakhouse section than in the sushi section. But you can get the sushi menu brought over if you want.

It's offers a mixed experience, starting with a frustrating wait for a tablet—typically around 25 to 40 minutes. This can be a real hassle, especially if you're eager to dive into the menu. However, once you do get your hands on that tablet, the sushi shines as the highlight of the meal. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, it’s clear that the chefs take pride in their craft. If you're patient enough to endure the initial wait, you'll be rewarded with some of the best sushi in the area. Overall, while the service could use some improvement, the quality of the food makes it worth a visit.

Only a 15 minute wait on a Saturday at 2:30pm! We hadn't been here in a whlie-havent been to St George as frequently. The sushi is just as delicious as I remembered! We only had sushi rolls and everything was fabulous. Recommend the "Jade" roll (single roll pic)

in St. George, Utah while celebrating our granddaughter's 3rd birthday. The hostesses were completely inattentive when it came to entering our information into their notification system. The hostess with glasses asked for my phone number and was inputted incorrectly. As a result, we missed our table because they sent the notification to the wrong number, even though we were sitting outside waiting. It was loud inside when I gave her my number so you would think she would have confirmed if she did not hear correctly. It wasn’t until I saw people that arrived much later than us being seated. When we pointed this out, they didn’t even apologize or make an effort to remedy the situation, and we ended up waiting much longer than expected. Overall, the hostesses’ inattentiveness and lack of professionalism set a negative tone for the entire evening. This restaurant really needs to train its staff better on customer service and managing their reservation system, as it completely detracted from what should have been a great dining experience. I understand this is a popular establishment but you cannot continue to treat paying customers like this.

I visited this restaurant on 10/20/2004. This was a fall break weekend for school kids so the restaurant was very busy. This restaurant does not take reservations on weekends. We checked in around 530pm and we were given a 60-90 minute wait for hibachi seating vs regular dining seating. We were called up after 102 minutes or so. When we were seated after 7pm I heard the hostess quote people an hour for dining and 1.5-2 hours for hibachi. One thing I found very odd was the interactive floor game they have right at the entrance of the restaurant so kids are stomping around on the game exactly where the doorway is. I attached a photo. Every one was having to dodge the children coming in and going out. I love the game and the idea for kids but the placement was super odd. On this particular busy Saturday the bar waiting are was full. The interior seating waiting area was full and the exterior areas were full of people. The parking lot was full at 530 pm when we arrived. These are all signs of a good restaurant but you do find yourself wondering if there is a better way they could set everything up. Not just for comfort of guests since reservations are not allowed but also to drive restaurant sales. We were seated at the hibachi and taken care of by a very attentive waitress. Our table Chef was excellent. The food was great. We chose to upgrade the white rice to the fried rice and it was excellent. Between the 7 people in my party we ordered many different items and we all agreed the food was great. We were all plenty full. Hibachi meal runs about $30-$40 depending on your protein choice.

Took wife out for birthday lunch. Fabulous. Had to wait five minutes. Chose between two tables. Our waitress was knowledgeable and courteous. Food was delicious!

It was busy, we had to wait 2 hours but was worth the wait! I’ve been to hibachi grills from coast to coast and everywhere in between including on a cruise ship once. This is by far the best experience we’ve had. Even while we waited there was entertainment. Once we were seated you can tell the service goes above and beyond to make sure we’re taken care of. A must visit place!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in town! The food is always amazing! My favorite roll has got to be between the Zion Roll and the Lobster Roll. So delicious everytime!
