Customer Review Summary
The Barn Door Restaurant & Meat Market has received mixed reviews. Several patrons noted friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere but expressed disappointment in the taste and quality of the steaks, describing them as lacking flavor. While some enjoyed the ribeye and other side dishes, others found their meals underwhelming, particularly the chicken fried ribeye, which was criticized for being flavorless with unappealing breading. Service issues were also a recurring theme, with reports of wrong orders and long waits for food. However, there were positive remarks about the cleanliness of the restaurant, the accommodating staff, and certain dishes like mashed potatoes and in-house dressings. Overall, while some customers would return for specific items, others are hesitant due to inconsistent experiences and pricing concerns.

Decided to come here for Valentines Dinner. Although service was friendly and atmosphere was nice, we were not impressed with their steaks. In our opinion, steaks lacked flavor and the iceberg salad was a little wilted. We did however enjoy our other side option. My spinach casserole was probably the most enjoyed item on my plate and my fiance really enjoyed his loaded baked potato. Not sure if we will come back for steaks. We may try something else next time.

Well, it's definitely not the The Barn Door that everyone remembers. It's pretty pricey for what you get food and service wise. Our server seemed like he had tables on both sides of the restaurant. He should have stuck with just the bar and outside areas. It seemed that when he brought stuff to the table, there was always something wrong. First wrong salad dressing, next I ordered medium rare and received rare. The baked potato didn't even melt the butter that came with the two rolls. It wasn't like it was cold butter either. Then we see a couple seated in the bar area. They waited for over ten minutes, with nobody coming to check on the, to at least take their drink order. They were only confronted by an employee when they were leaving the bar area. No real attempt to apologize or try to get them to stay. The host/manager didn't even have a clue what had happened. I know that the old Barn Door would never let that happen. Should have realized something was wrong when our menus were laminated and limited food offerings.

You can tell that the restaurant has been kept up very well. I love the history room, all the momentos are incredible to look at. The hostess and our waitress, Sierra were phenomenal and very friendly. The ribeye was incredible. Perfect seasoning of salt and pepper with a fantastic crust. Mashed potatoes were creamy and the white gravy was perfect. The ranch is made in house and I enjoyed the Italian dressing. We got the apple pie to go, but I'm sure it will be amazing!! Thank you for such a wonderful experience ❤️

I do not live in the area and searched for good steak place near me. I noticed a picture of the country fried ribeye. WOW, am I glad I drove to find this place. Great bartender, service was on point, and the food was great. My only disappointment is that I was in a hotel and had to leave the leftovers behind.

Great steaks, fresh shrimp and even the salad was tasty. Customer service was superb. Will definitely be back!

Nice bartender. Good atmosphere. We sat at the bar and split the redfish. Had the bacon wrapped chicken as an app. Would recommend steamed instead of grilled asparagus. We like a lot of seasoning and while the food was good, more seasoning would be our preference. Meals are pretty pricey but we liked the place a lot. Bacon on the bacon wrapped chicken was thick and fatty. I prefer thinner and more crispy. We will be back to try the jaleno poppers.

We came here by mistake! My husband thought he was taking us to a different restaurant (kind of the same name) and after talking to the waiter he realized he mapped the wrong restaurant. But in the end, that mistake was so worth it! Everything from the way we were greeted, seated, and served was amazing! And the best part of it all was the awesome food we had. Everything was perfect! We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this place!

We arrived about an hour after they opened. The place is very large with several rooms. All told, we were a party of 16. We were placed in a separate room. The host was more than happy to accommodate a last-minute change to the number of seats. Once all of our party arrived and our orders were taken, it was more than one hour before we received any type of food. Bread rolls were finally brought after an hour. We were told about 30 minutes into our visit that they were just turning on the oven to put the rolls in so they would be a while. However, the restaurant had already been open for at least 45 minutes before we arrived. The rolls were good. Nothing spectacular. Other appetizers arrived shortly thereafter. I tried a jalapeno popper. It was good. I initially ordered the ribeye, medium rare, but I ended up changing my mind and ordering the chicken fried ribeye. I am a chicken fried steak aficionado and had recently been ordering them whenever I went out to eat. I'd actually eaten two at two different restaurants within the last 2 weeks: One at the Aspen Creek Grill in San Antonio and another at the Brewster Street Ice House in Corpus Christi. This CFS was the worst of the three. I was extremely disappointed. It was a classic meh chicken fried steak: very thin unflavored breading that separated from the beef once you cut into it. The beef was also flavorless. I ordered two types of gravy: a brown gravy and a cream gravy. The brown gravy was much better, but that is not saying much. I think they're depending too much on the gravy to provide flavor to the chicken fried steak. Both other CFS's from the other two restaurants were head and shoulders above this one with the Brewster Street CFS one of the best I've ever had. One other note about this CFS. Because it was a ribeye, it had more fat than the standard CFS. It's not really the best thing when you're eating that part with the breading. The salad I received was good but not great. The only thing holding it back was the dressing which was homemade. I ordered thousand Island. I was told all of the dressings were homemade. I think it needed a little more zing. It was also a little flavorless. The loaded baked potato was very good. My kids enjoyed their chicken strip meal and grilled cheese meal respectively. My wife also enjoyed her steak, but said it was nothing out of the ordinary. Very disappointed. I probably won't go back again considering this experience and the price of the ribeye that I should have ordered. I'll just go out and buy one and make it myself.
