Dropped in on this place after hearing about it on Facebook. We were not disappointed, the onion rings were excellent! Both the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken was tasty and large. The gravy had a very good flavor. Nice atmosphere and the Wait staff was very attentive. I would like to return and try the Mexican platters.

We stumbled by mistake into this place on a Sunday evening & glad that we did. Since we had never tried their food we asked the waitress what was popular. She was very helpful & told us how the onion rings, chicken fried steak & chicken fried chicken are popular. We decided to go with the chicken fried chicken, a hamburger & onion rings. Everything was delicious. We were impressed by the chicken fried chicken, this has to be the best in SA. The country gravy added the perfect flavor to it & we hope to enjoy it again very soon. The hamburger was good, but the onion rings really made it better. The atmosphere is a little dated & dark, but this doesn’t affect the tasty food they serve. It was a full house too so you know they are doing food right.

What I received tasted like a frozen patty, and was similar to chicken fried steaks I've got in sandwiches from snack bars, casinos or from the frozen food section of the grocery store. My salad and fries were great, the service was good, but the chicken fried steak was a total disappointment. I've reviewed at least a dozen local restaurants for their chicken fried steaks, as I do food and restaurant reviews online, and this was one of the worst I've had. I honestly doubted it was battered or prepared in house. As a first time diner, I was severely disappointed by the steak, so much so that I'm not sure I'll be returning. I would be willing to try other items, but Id be highly wary of ordering the chicken fried steak again. I just looked at the reviews from the last 4 months and see a sudden number of people saying their chicken fried steaks were bad as well. Did something change recently?

Enjoyed this decades old establishment with a friend and family. The staff is excellent and was very accommodating throughout our dinning in experience. The interior maintains its rustic charm and was busy during the lunch hour. The cheese enchiladas are among the best in town with a top-notch gravy. My friend had the spicy jalapeño steak which looked great and he said it was his favorite there. The sweet tea you can’t go wrong as it was freshly brewed. Definitely give them a visit if you’re in the downtown area and looking for an off the touristy trail true original piece of San Antonio! Highly recommend.

Absolutely 1 star for the largest and coldest beer in texas... BUT let's get to the food on 10/20/2024 I had the double meat with cheese I asked for bacon full order of onion rings and some other plates my family ordered. So now THE FOOD SUCKS guys what the hell I paid 118$ for dry ass food my burger was dry NO BACON and the onion rings they were hard as my burger but I still left a 20$ tip the fish my wife had well forget about it..

M.K. Davis has always been a good place to visit. My 4 star rating is a result in the change in menu options. They’ve reduced the number of options available, perhaps to help streamline the kitchen. My food was delivered very quick and hot on a Saturday. It was very busy and the waitstaff was acting quick to help out all guests.
