Customer Review Summary

Service quality and food temperature appear to be inconsistent at Parker Brothers Traildust Steakhouse. Some guests experienced long waits for food, with orders being mistakenly delivered to other tables. The banana pudding serving size was disappointing, and some entrees, including chicken, were reported as dry and cool upon arrival. However, there are also positive mentions of the restaurant's atmosphere, family-friendly features like a slide, and a generally vibrant dining experience. While many appreciate the steak quality, service issues, like slow table clearing and inattentive staff, have frustrated several customers. Despite the mixed reviews, loyal patrons highly recommend the ribeye and enjoy returning for the nostalgic ambiance. Overall, experiences vary widely, with some planning to return while others express doubts due to service shortcomings.

Arrived at 11, had our food at 11:45. There were 4 tables filled. The staff was friendly, service good. Rating is based on the 45 min food wait. I saw my food taken to another table accidentally, and taken back into the kitchen. A few minutes later it was brought to me. I think our waitress was serving in order, instead of bringing the food out when it was done. The other table was a large family, and there were only 2 of us. My food was cool, close to cold when I got it. $7.99 banana pudding to go was about a 3/4 cup serving. Very disappointed. My husband's chicken was dry. His veggies were warm, but the rest of our food was again cool. Waitress did good with refills. And like the other review, corn nuggets are a $2.99 upcharge when menu lists them as a reg side and not a premium side. Waitress told me there was an upcharge, but I was still surprised. Was our first time. Nice to try something new, but we will stick to Texas Roadhouse.

We made the 1 hour trip from Garland. This was a very nostalgic trip for me. When I was growing up, the Trail Dust in Mesquite was my favorite restaurant. --I loved the slide, the dance floor, and all the cut neck ties on the wall. (I'll get to that shortly) We were seated immediately upon arrival. The menu isn't too big, and is easy to navigate. We went on a Friday at lunch. This location had a dance floor, full bar, and most importantly a SLIDE! The decor is "Texas Barn". Someone told me to bring a blanket for the slide. The stairs for the slide are pretty narrow. My daughter loved the slide. They do have two rules .. you must wear socks, and no screaming. I went once, but it was a little too bumpy at the end for my large backside. FOOD and drinks - The adult sodas are served in large glasses , beer was cold -- Mozzarella sticks were tasty, my guests had Chicken fried steak and catfish. Everyone loved their food, and it all was a great price. I was excited to have a Friday lunch special. For the bargain of $13.99 I had a delicious 8 oz Ribeye. Our baked potatoes were also stuffed generously with toppings. ... Our server did not clear anything off the table, our empty mozzarella basket sat from the start of the meal to the end. None of us were offered refills. Our server brought the check over without offering dessert. Then our server stood talking to another table for 10+ mins while I waited to pay. I didn't understand the hurry to drop the check, and ignore us. This was REALLY frustrating. Biggest disappointment - I wore a tie intentionally to have it cut off. The tie was never acknowledged during our visit. My girlfriend asked another employee about it, and that employee told our server. Our server asked about the tie as she brought over our check after being processed. I don't know the "tie cutting protocol" , but felt incredibly frustrated by being ignored for an extended amount of time. -- I would love to go on a night when there is live music.

My husband loves the Parker Brothers Traildust Steakhouse. We stop there every time we go to and from Oklahoma. I enjoy the grilled shrimp and catfish. My husband consistently orders a 16-oz Rifleman cooked medium rare, loaded baked potato, and ranch on his salad. YUM. I always sneak a few bites of his ribeye. If you have never been here, I encourage you to go out of your way. You will be a customer for life.

I had the rib eye cooked medium and it was delicious. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly. We had a large party with over 30 people so it took a while to receive our food. The children enjoyed the slide. They also have an area for live dancing. Our server Rhonda was awesome. While it’s a cool place to come out, I’m not sure I’ll be back just due to the distance from home.

We visited for the first time even though we've lived in Denton for almost 5 yrs.. very nice family oriented restaurant. A big slide for the kids to play. Food was hot & fresh. We'll definitely go back again.

If you haven't heard... This is the best Steak House anywhere! Go out of your way if you have to, you'll be glad you did!!! Love this place!!! Highly recommend! The Rifleman is the best Ribeye in Texas!! Service is always AWESOME! And always consistent! Had a 16oz Rifleman last night. Yum, consistent and excellent as always! Thank you!

Updated 12/27 Thankfully this time we had a nice server. Service and quality of food was much better. Only down side is they did not have any full booths available though we asked and many were empty due to letting staff go early or some excuse like that was given. Update as of 2/18 Unfortunately, I had to update my previous rating five star rating to 2 due to multiple issues with our visit today. The hostess was rude as the devil in heaven. Not sure why when she was wearing a religious sweatshirt. We asked to sit in the booths but we were told the section was closed. However, less than 3 min later she started sitting customers there staring at us each time she walked past us. In fact, at one point she pulled out her phone sitting near the bar like she was filming something. Not sure what it was. Next, our ribeye was plated on a burned and chipped plate that looked like it was pulled out of the trash. Or not even washes. Waitress was kind. No complaints. Please do better Trail Dust. We look forward to stopping by on our way to Windstar but after today experience I am not sure. We have been her multiple times and never had such a pitiful experience in past 25 years at this location on your other location in the DFW metroplex.

05/19/2024 Lunch. I had the chicken fried chicken sandwich, and my wife had the chicken fried chicken platter. Both entrées were a mediocre, (average) everyday experience for us. My sandwich reminded me of a chick filet sangwich (but it wasn't moist or tasty), and the platter was about the same, except her entrée was not hot (or even warm). It was room temperature. The salads were enjoyable. The sliding board was next to the table, so we got a first-hand experience of some noisy kids having fun. The place was dirty, but there was plenty of customers, so it's not a deal breaker for the locals (it seemed). To be fair, we didn't have steak. A good steak makes up for a lot of deficiencies! 🥩 Excellent: Uniquely satisfying. A special place. Very Good: Better than expected. Avg: An everyday experience. Just OK. Fair: Below par. Dirty, smelly & or flies.
