About Stillwell's - steak house in Dallas, Texas
Customer Review Summary
Stillwell's offers a varied dining experience that has garnered mixed reviews. The atmosphere is frequently praised for its inviting and elegant design, with a notable cowboy entrance and a mid-century steakhouse vibe. While many diners appreciate the attentive service and thoughtful touches, such as complimentary non-alcoholic champagne and special birthday gestures, the service can become overwhelming with multiple staff members attending to tables. Food quality has been inconsistent; while many enjoy dishes like the filet mignon and brussel sprouts, others find certain items, such as the wagyu pricing and the tuna crudo, disappointing. A few reviewers experienced issues with food temperature and incorrect charges on their bills, affecting their overall satisfaction. Despite some shortcomings, several guests have expressed a desire to return, highlighting the restaurant’s potential for improvement. Overall, Stillwell’s is seen as a promising option for upscale dining, ideal for special occasions, yet some diners urge caution regarding service consistency and food execution.

I went here for dinner the night I got engaged and it was memorable. The atmosphere is great - the cowboy at the entrance is iconic. We really appreciated the Lyre’s non-alcoholic champagne offered to us to toast with since we don’t drink alcohol. That was a nice touch. The food was okay. Pro tip: ask for the MP on the wagyu prior to ordering. We didn’t ask and were surprised with a $1100 dinner bill 🙃 Edit: Derek, I really appreciate your response and your receptiveness to feedback. We would like to give Stillwell’s another try. Thanks again.

My friend and I decided to celebrate Galentine’s Day here and we were thoroughly disappointed. To point out the highlights - they offer valet (tips), the restaurant (bar side) is decorated with a Texas twist, and they offer a variety of cocktails, wine, and other liberations for you to enjoy. The customer service was very overwhelming as we had multiple individuals coming to our table throughout the night - drink/food orders, check ups, etc. Although, we did appreciate the attentiveness they offered it resulted in a confusing dining experience. We ordered multiple appetizers for the table - tuna crudo, beef dumplings, and lobster bisque. We did enjoy the dumplings and lobster bisque but the crudo was lacking. We were expecting more of a citrus flavoring instead of the sesame oil which was overpowering. For my dinner, I ordered seared scallops and sides for the table - creamed corn, roasted mushrooms - and my friend ordered brussel sprouts and crispy potato salad and for her dinner - ora king salmon. The tastiness of the side was expected but they could’ve came out a little hotter (temperature). The brussel sprouts had a good crispness and sauce layered on top and I was pleasantly surprised by the crispy potato salad as the flavoring was good. I was content with the creamed corn and mushrooms. The scallops had a crisp top layer (which is nice) but offered a salty aftertaste and I didn’t enjoy the sweet potato purée it came it. Again, everything was lukewarm. My friend unfortunately didn’t enjoy her salmon or the side it came with - bean salad - as she mentioned the mushiness of it. We finished with a strawberry cheesecake for dessert and my friend had to send it back due to not enjoying it. The night ended with my card being charged 4 times due to the waiter’s confusion! One waiter brought our checks and we provided our cards but another waiter completed the transactions. Currently, I have $594.30 pending on my account and $265.21, of that, is from another customer’s check that the waiter ran MY card on. This made for a TERRIBLE ending to already mediocre night. I’ll definitely be watching my account to make sure all the charges fall off and the correct charge is posted. Unfortunately, I wont return here.

My wife and I have tried all of the known named steakhouses in Dallas, so we wanted to try out a new spot! This is our new favorite place! From the moment you enter this beautiful family owned hotel Swexan(Swiss-Texan) to walking into the entrance of Stilwell’s and you are welcomed by the neon silhouette of the midnight cowboy! We were greeted by a very friendly and inviting hostess and seated at our table. The dining area transported us into what felt like a mid-century steakhouse from the music to the velvet seats and waiststaff’s attire! David and Jaqueline were our servers and they truly showed a passion for the menu, with Derek giving us a very detailed tour of their menu! We ordered the crab cake, a filet and Delmonico ribeye with Mac and cheese and fries! Everything thing was absolutely delicious. The GM Derek touched every table and was very nice chatting with us and giving us an interesting history of the restaurant and hotel. We truly had a wonderful valentines dinner thanks to the fantastic team at Stillwell’s. We will definitely be back!

went for a birthday. Atmosphere was really pretty and nice. Filet was very hard to chew. Even had it remade but genuinely was too tough to eat. Our waiter was really sweet about it though. Lamb duo, salmon, sea bass and hangar steak was nice. Not a peanut butter fan but the pb dessert was phenomenal. The whiskey apricot dessert was okay but nothing crazy. Oysters were amazing! It was understandably busy and we had to wait a while for drinks and for our waiter to check on us but it was mostly worth it! 8.7/10 . Very lovely atmosphere great for dates or intimate celebrations

By far the best steakhouse in Dallas. Super professional service and quite possibly the best steak I have ever had. We were hosting friends from out of town. They were super impressed. The sommelier recommended a fantastic magnum and really knew his stuff. Have a drink downstairs after for a lovely little night cap.

Truly, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I went to Stillwells for my 31st birthday with my boyfriend. From the beginning, they made sure to make me feel special, writing a writing a custom card, giving us a dessert to take him, and even giving me a blanket because I was a bit cold in the restaurant! We both ordered filet mignon, and they were cooked perfectly. The side dishes and deviled eggs as an appetizer were just as good. Servers, and the manager frequently stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. 10/10 would recommend for any special occasion or upscale dining experience.

I visited Stillwell’s for my birthday, and I was excited to celebrate at such a beautiful venue with a thoughtfully crafted menu. The atmosphere felt elegant yet inviting, and the night started with high hopes for a memorable dining experience. While there were some lovely moments, a few hiccups in service left me feeling it wasn’t quite the celebration I had envisioned. Venue & Vibes Stillwell’s is a beautifully designed space with a lot of thought put into the ambiance and details. 🌟 Whether you're stopping by for a casual dinner or celebrating something special, the atmosphere truly sets the stage for an enjoyable evening. Menu Highlights 🍴 The menu is well crafted, with something for everyone! Whether you’re dining with seafood lovers or die-hard carnivores, Stillwell’s has you covered. I can’t wait to return to try the beef rib I spotted on the menu it looked amazing. Service & Experience The service started off great, attentive, and welcoming, with Joel taking care of me throughout the night. He was kind and helpful, and the managers Derek and Jordan even took the time to stop by and wish me a happy birthday, which I really appreciated. However, as the evening got busier, things slowed down quite a bit. The wait for food was longer than expected, and unfortunately, small details were missed. For example, I paid $12 for truffle butter that wasn’t included when my food was packed to go, which was disappointing. Their steak is GOOD though, so you don't need it. Bonus Tip 🥂 After your meal, make time to check out Babou's in the building. It’s a fun addition to the experience, but you’ll need to look it up for its review. It’s separate from Stillwell’s. Final Thoughts 💭 Stillwell’s has so much potential to be one of the top spots in Dallas! With a bit more consistency in service and a focus on refining those small details, I believe it could really shine. I would recommend it for a casual dinner or night out but may hesitate for another big celebration, at least for now. I’ll be back to give it another try soon (hello, beef rib!), and I’m hopeful they’ll continue to grow into everything they’re capable of. 💫 I almost forgot, though I was never offered a dessert menu, they thoughtfully gave me a complimentary bottle of water, which was perfect since I was avoiding cocktails. A nice touch that didn’t go unnoticed! 🥂

Took a dear friend here for a belated birthday dinner for both of us and we were nothing short of impressed. Our server Caleb was so knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel offers complementary valet so parking is a breeze My old fashioned was simply the best I've ever been served and our filets were cooked to perfection. You have got to try the brussel sprouts; the are the right amount of sweet. Management came over and chatted and wished us happy belated birthdays.
