Customer Review Summary
Niwa Japanese BBQ offers good service and clean facilities with quality food. Their AYCE menu features highlights such as beef belly, pork belly, and miso skirt, with great veggie options and lightly breaded karaage. Other menu items like takoyaki, beef tongue, and F1 wagyu short rib are also recommended. The atmosphere is enjoyable, with great music and a cute robot helper, making it ideal for special occasions. However, some reviews mention service issues, particularly with seating and timely service during busy times. Prices are considered high for portions, which has led to mixed feelings about the overall value. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends, and the owner is noted for excellent hospitality. Overall, it’s praised as one of the best Japanese BBQ spots in downtown Dallas, perfect for a date night or celebration.

Good service, clean bathrooms, quality food. We happened to come on a Friday. Ight, which happens to be AYCE. We tried most on that menu, but my favorite was the beef belly and pork belly. The short rib, hanger, and miso skirt weren't far behind. I don't care much for the New York. The veggies on that menu were also all good. The karaage was lightly breaded, which was awesome - most other places tend to have too much breading. Other than the AYCE menu, we tried takoyaki, beef tongue, F1 wagyu short rib. The beef tongue was great, but the F1 wagyu short rib just melts in your mouth. We were stuffed at this point, but we plan to try the pork jowl during our next visit. The matcha lemonade was also good, just a tad too sweet. Parking was right next door. $19 for 2 hours, or $25 for 9 hours on a Friday night. Joey was our server and was great. - edit - Pork jowl, deviled eggs, other wagyu cuts were also fantastic. $11 parking on a Sunday night. This area is still busy for a Sunday night, so parking may be limited.

My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary. Everything was divine (we cooked it ourselves 😌) I tried an unusual drink and I’m glad I did because it was so good! The music was top notch and the atmosphere was immaculate. They had a little robot helper he was so cute!

We happened to go on a Thursday night, where you can get a meat boat for $85. This is an excellent deal, considering the individual prices for the meats and veggies on the boat, so we did it - and it was delicious! High quality meat with perfect sauces and seasonings. Definitely worth it.

The food is great. Love the whole experience. It's really about cooking and dining together and affords great conversation as you prepare meals. It was a going away party for m and thus venue was perfect for this. Service was great you feel like you are the only group there.

Overpriced and service issues. Walked in for 2 people without a reservation and waited about 45 minutes before being seated. No issues here; we sat at the bar and enjoyed drinks. Main issue was the service. Not sure if big tables were just more important, but took us about 10 minutes before being greeted and then another 5-10 to order. Having served before, sauces are given before an order comes out, if not immediately. We got our appetizer and meats first. Another 5-10 passes by before we were able to locate our waiter and ask for the sauces and lettuce we ordered before waiting another 5-10 until we actually got it. By this time, we finished cooking our meats and were left just waiting for the sauces and lettuce. When we finally got them, quickly finished and asked for our bill. Even our bill took a while to get to us. Second issue was the pricing. $4 for some small pieces of lettuce was mind blowing. $15-$25 for 2-3 oz of meat was insane. Being in Deep Ellum/Downtown does not justify these prices. I'm not blaming the entire experience(and definitely not pricing) solely on our server. This restaurant needs more/better food runners or overall team when dealing with busy nights.

One of best downtown Dallas Japanese BBQ restaurants. Remember to always make reservations over weekend and it opens for dinner from 6 to 11 pm.

This is my wife and I’s favorite spot in town. The owner, Jimmy is absolutely amazing. When my wife was pregnant with our first, she craved their sauces and meats so we ended up going sometimes 3 times a week. It is affordable and they always have the best service. If you’re looking for amazing food, incredible experience and great vibes this is the place to go! Make sure to ask Jimmy for his beef jerky! He sells it for $10 a bag and it is out of this world!!!

Service was excellent, food was great, but a little pricey . I thought I was going to a hibachi , but You cook your own meat at your table here so four people with one little circular grill was hard to manage especially since we came in about 30 minutes before closing . Perfect place to take your date to .
