Dunston's Steak House is a charming, family-owned restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere featuring memorabilia and a well-stocked salad bar. While many reviewers praised the friendly service and outdoor charcoal grilling, opinions on food quality varied significantly. Some highlights included generous portion sizes and a good salad bar, though other diners found their steaks tasteless and overcooked. Cleanliness was a concern for a few, citing dirty utensils and napkins with mildew. Wonderful family owned steak house that is a throw back to the old days of steak places. Memorabilia on the dark wood walls, ice cold salad bar and very good food. Friendly service. This is and (and least has been) a local favorite for several generations.

Dunston’s is an iconic steakhouse in a very nice part of Dallas. The food was incredible, the staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was second to none. They cook on a charcoal grill in the dining area, which is in and of its self really cool! The salad bar was well stocked with lots of veggies, your meal comes with complimentary bread rolls, and the portion sizes are very good. You’re going to have a hard time leaving hungry from this place! I highly recommend Dunstons steakhouse.

Food was somewhat tasteless. Huge asparagus, lol. Had the Tbone and sirloin. But service was above great. However, waiter failed to tell us that the salad bar was a side dish, and it's a whole other buffet we noticed at the end when peope started to walk back with a huge plate of salad!Located in a beautiful neighborhood.

Service - slow but friendly Cleanliness - Utensils were dirty so had to ask for a second set… both napkins smelled heavily of mildew Food - Steak - Asked for medium, it was medium well/well done and outside bacon was charred. Very bland. I don’t think a good steak needs sauce and haven’t eaten a steak with A1 sauce in years but I couldn’t eat this steak without it. Mashed potatoes/Gravy - Tastes instant. Tastes exactly like KFC mashed potatoes and gravy Squash casserole - Good

Good food at a great price. Place is arranged a little tightly, but if you don't mind rubbing elbows with strangers, you will like it here.

I was really impressed by this place. I went here for lunch after a round of golf and it was delicious. The steak was cooked over an open flame and perfectly medium rare. The baked potato was piping hot. The salad bar was fresh and well attended. I finished things off with a delicious brownie sundae. My only complaint was the server was a little slow getting to us but I will be back soon.

Went for lunch. Must of been short of help. My steak was send back numerous times to the point I no longer wanted it. Will not visit this location again. My waiter was excellent but he seem overwhelmed.

Such a nice old fashion steakhouse. I believe it’s one of the oldest in Dallas. They had a really great salad bar that they are known for. I got the salad bar and the grilled catfish and both were very up to par. Would order/eat them both again. The wait staff were all super nice and the restaurant itself, like I said, very old fashion but really nice. My favorite was the little speakeasy bar in the back called TBD lounge. That was a really cute area to get drinks after dinner (view my photos). Highly recommended if you’re in the area.
