This is a bare bone no frill steakhouse. The steak was cooked well.... could use just a little seasoning. The sweet potato was really good. And the price is really good.

Best onion rings ever! Chicken fried steak was excellent. Great pricing. Attentive service. Traditional dinner style. Will definitely return. A landmark restaurant for Dallas.

This is my honest opinion.. If you were to quantify and price less the rolls and butter...Charco Broiler is better than Texas Road house.. I've passed this place in Dallas for 2 decades and this was my first time coming in.. The decor is old ! It's probably looked the same since it opened with the update of a flat screen TV in the back. You walk up to a cafeteria style counter place your steak order and find a table. I picked the 10oz ribeye comes with baked potato, and salad. The salad was in a fridge already placed inside bowls stacked on lunch trays. You pick up whatever additions you want including dressing at the counter. The steak was delicious. Prime USDA cut of beef. The potato comes out with butter only. You have to let the attendant know what additions you'd like. Sour Cream comes in packets, bacon bits are imitation. They aren't shy about giving condiments. Overall.. I love the place. I highly recommend if you're looking for a no frills old school steakhouse. It seems like the locals love it also. I came just before 5pm on a Sunday and the line was almost out the door when I left.

First time visiting Dallas and my second stop for local restaurant. Nice historical restaurant with traditional grilled steak! Thanks to our food tour guide who introduce a lot of the background of the dishes!

Updating my Review: There have been some changes since the last time I reviewed this location, over a year ago, and I’d like to update my review because these are good people and they fired the person that was causing issues previously. The food is good. I love the chicken fried steak, burgers, the salads and sweet tea. They have this one lady that goes around re-filing drinks and making sure the tables are clean- she is phenomenal at her job! Take a little cash to give her a good tip. I usually go on Sunday and it’s always nice to see all of the families come through after church. Great atmosphere.

Pleasant restaurant that's been here for decades. Despite that, I had never been! Was surprised it was so big! We arrived and ordered from the menu. Prices were decent, especially when comparing to prices at other places you can get a steak. I got steak, steamed broccoli, and a salad. The first person we interacted with didn't explain that the steaks came with a salad or baked potato, so the cashier explained to us. The ingredients in the salad bar were fresh and delicious. Can't complain! The steak and broccoli were good, nothing to write home about. Overall, the food was good, not great but good. Enough to fill up on, so I'd come here again.
