Customer Review Summary

Peter provided exceptional service by helping with cheese selections and preventing overordering. The ambiance, enhanced by Christmas lights, created a memorable dining experience during a business dinner. Many guests praised the New York Strip steak and side dishes as excellent, while desserts received high marks as well. Some diners found the pricing steep, especially for certain steaks compared to other upscale restaurants. Service was highlighted as a strong point, with servers being attentive and personable. A few guests faced significant disappointment with food quality, citing underseasoned steaks and poor appetizers, leading to claims of it being one of their worst dining experiences. The overall atmosphere, including live piano music and a beautiful setting, was appreciated, particularly for special occasions. The restaurant is recommended for its attentive service and high-quality, delicious food, although some caution is advised regarding the price-to-quality ratio. Reservations are encouraged given the popularity and demand.

Peter was very polite and helpful in making our cheese selection, and also helping us to NOT over order since this was our first visit. He explained everything for us. He was very professional and very pleasant. He is an asset to your organization. I understand this is an upscale place, and the food was excellent, but the New York Strip was way overpriced. I've been to just as upscale places and gotten a 2 lb. Porterhouse for the same price you charged for the 14 oz. New York Strip Steak.

We had a wonderful business dinner at the Old Hickory Steakhouse. It was definitely something I’ll remember. The Christmas lights added a really nice ambiance. My New York Strip steak was perfect and the side dishes were really good. We ordered a couple desserts and they were fabulous. If you’re sitting “outside” they do have bathrooms that are accessible out there which are very nice. It was an expensive dinner, but we were looking for something special as this was our team dinner.

We had eaten here before 2 years ago. This visit was dramatically better. The food was much improved. Our server Peter was first class. He is very personable and entertaining and an excellent server. We went when it was 20° outside so be sure and dress warm if it's very cold outside as the restaurant is under the beautiful glass top. We could see the Christmas light show in the Delta section from where we were seated.

We wanted a more upscale restaurant on our trip to Nashville and the Old Hickory did not disappoint! It’s inside the Gaylord Hotel complex on the top floor and the ambiance was special. Of course we started off with the world famous Lobster Bisque. Now at $17 it may sound pricey to some but you have never seen so many chunks of lobster in a bowl. It was a lobster roll in a bowl. In fact, our waiter Nicholas recommended adding some of the rosemary bread in the bisque for added enjoyment. It was spectacular. Next was the 8 oz fillets done medium rare which melt in your mouth with gobs of flavor. Let me warn you. The sides are huge and could easily be for 4 people. We got the carrots and I must say never have had such a healthy choice that tasted so good! I had a glass of Pino Noir which was good. If I may make a suggestion it would be nice to have a menu of available options in wine and spirits. Overall a very nice experience.

This has to the one Of the worst food we’ve ever spent money on, if not then the worst bc it was around $300 for 2 people. To start we got the espresso martini, it wasn’t creamy so if you like it dark and straight to the point then you might like it. I thought it was just ok, we’ve had much better. They brought out bread and it was so hard, you could barely rip or chew through it. Very very dense as well. Almost like a hockey puck. We started with a baby gem salad, my god there was barely any dressing. It was like just eating a very dry salad with dry toppings. I regret not leaving right after we tried the salad because it set the tone for the whole dinner. 85$ for a flavorless New York strip, although they nailed the medium rare cook on it, it was totally under seasoned and bland. $80 for a undercooked and under seasoned ribeye. Both steaks also came with these weird pickled onions? Very unnecessary and off putting. When you pay that much money for ONE piece of meat, I expect quality meat and exceptional flavor. We even got a “ plate enhancer” which was a creamy horseradish sauce, but it was watery and bland. It didn’t enhance anything but the bill. The Mac and cheese was unbelievably gritty? It wasn’t luscious or velvety. Could’ve made a better one at home. Everything was absolutely horrible, anyone who can cook will recognize that this isn’t good food or good quality lol. Please save your money and just go to any other steak house. STK, Texas road house, long horn, hell I think Cheesecake Factory could’ve made a better steak lol. Service was decent, but food was so bad that I considered the service good LOL. Absolutely disappointed and underwhelm

Amazing. Beautiful live piano music, sitting beside a wonderful fountain, and two attentive servers. Everything we had was delicious but especially the rosemary bread, lobster bisque, and Brussels sprouts. Worth every single penny, already recommending it to everyone—especially for a special occasion because of the amazing chocolate mousse cake we got. Pricing wise, expensive but with the amazing atmosphere and expertise of the chefs you won’t regret it, especially if you love steak. I got the crab cakes but had a bite of my husband’s steak and it was the best steak I’ve ever had (I’m no big fan of steak but I was almost jealous. Almost). The servers were amazing, taking our photo, ensuring our glasses were always full, and bringing out the wine bottle so we could take a picture of it. Keep in mind to set a reservation, they take them 24hrs in advance.

My family of 3 had a Saturday night dinner at Old Hickory and were blown away by the quality, attentive service, atmosphere, and accessibility of being Opryland overnight guests. The menu listed top meat producers in the country like Meat by Linz (our absolute favorite dry-aged steak provider) and had a large variety of cuts, seafood options, and appetizers. We were pleasantly surprised they also offered a kids menu which our 5 year old loved choosing from. Our server, Tony, was extremely attentive and never let our water glasses go half empty or any empty dishes to be left on our table. Everything was delicious from the steak, appetizer, sides, and bread - we didn't have any room to try the desserts but they looked decadent from neighboring tables that did! From a Gaylord Opryland standpoint, the location was very cozy in pink, antebellum house within the main Delta/Magnolia atrium. You can hear the fountain show and see the lights from the patio. It was just enough separation to feel like a private restaurant - I can't express how awesome it was to eat our bellies full here then walk a few steps to our guest room to relax. We underestimated the quality of steakhouse within a resort, Old Hickory is definitely all 5 stars!
