Customer Review Summary
Jimmy Kelly's Steakhouse generally receives positive feedback for its welcoming atmosphere and attentive service. Many diners praise the quality of the food, with standout dishes like the crab stuffed sea bass, porterhouse steak, and various appetizers such as Brussels sprouts and wedge salads. Some dishes, like the JK Beef Wellington and mac and cheese, have garnered disappointment for inconsistencies in preparation and flavor. While most experiences are marked by friendly and knowledgeable staff, there have been instances of delayed service, especially during busy periods. Prices are noted to be on the higher side, with some guests feeling that certain menu items are overpriced compared to their quality. Overall, the restaurant is regarded as a worthwhile destination, especially for those looking to enjoy a special meal in Nashville, though some diners imply they may explore other options in the future.

We have dined at Jim and Kelly’s Steakhouse before and after ownership has changed which occurred a few years ago. We always purchase half off gift cards around the holidays to enjoy the meals at this location. I am very thankful that the new owners honor gift cards purchased before they took over and honestly it is a good thing for their business to do that even though they did not get the cash for those cards. This is my first time writing a review but have eaten here at least half a dozen times. My family have tired many different dishes over the different dining times and typically the food is outstanding on the B+ to A+ range. There have been a few items that have missed the mark such as a cheeseburger a few times just very over cooked and try or my JK Beef Wellington which was just not eatable tonight since the puff pastry was not cooked all the way and the pieces sat in the sauce making each bite very gummy. I would highly recommend not getting the JK Beef Wellington as I was really disappointed. I did not say anything to the staff as the room we were in was very small with multiple tables and I did not want to make a scene. Now let’s go over the rest of the meal. We started with 2 outstanding and very strong bloody Mary drinks, iced tea and chocolate milk. The blood Mary’s are an excellent choice to start the meal for sure. Our round of appetizers started with thick cut bacon which is very fatty more like a pork belly with a sweet glaze and Brussel sprouts which they really need to add more to the plate. You really want every think on your fork for each bite otherwise not a great dish. The wedge salad was large and excellent with lots of blue cheese and Caesar salad was top notch. I do appreciate that they are willing to pre-split the salads to make your life easy. The Johnny cakes that are like the bread come with whipped butter but I wish they were just made versus made in large batches and just room temperature. Last was the French Onion Soup which tasted average, not a huge taste of onion but we brought it home and will try it again tomorrow and see if it improves. For dinner Brooklyn really enjoyed the burger and fries which we hot and salty and burger was a good burger. I got the JK Beef Wellington and I again do not recommend that dish to anyone. The New York Strip was cooked to a nice medium rare and seasoned well which paired with the baked potato that was quite large but no salt on the skin of the potato which it desperately need. We added butter, sour cream and cheese to the potato to add a little yummy to it but still needed some sea salt or coarse salt to take it up a level. Last my mother in law had the Duck Roulade which was presented like a 3 star restaurant. The puff pastry has a gorgeous pattern lattice on it and the duck was cooked to perfection but the issue is when putting everything on your fork to eat all you really taste is the puff pastry and the sweetness of the cherry or cranberries. At the end of the meal we typically get dessert but decided to pass tonight but in the past we have enjoyed the banana pudding and a few other options. Overall we really enjoy eating at this location and all the history it offers to Nashville, while not every item is outstanding there are a few real gems. Our meal above cost $320 as an fyi including: Bloody Mary, Iced Tea, Chocolate Milk, JK Beef Wellington, French Onion Soup, Thick cut bacon, The Wedge, Caesar salad, New York strip, Duck roulade, JK Classic Burger (plain burger), Baked potato. We will be back again and look forward to trying some new dishes.

Great experience!! From the hostess greeting us to our awesome server Lauren to the amazing meal, Jimmy Kelly's was one of our best dining experiences in Nashville. Ooh, and I can't forget those delicious corn cakes they bring to your table! We started with drinks. I had the Elderberry French 75. It was okay, but it was not my favorite. My boyfriend had a classic old fashion. Other than it having ice chips instead of the ice ball, he really liked it. For my entree, I did the Crab stuffed sea bass... AMAZING! My boyfriend had the Porterhouse cooked medium rare. He said it was cooked perfect and probably the best porterhouse he'd ever had! For the sides, we got the brussel sprouts. They were SO good! We were worried we wouldn't like them after Lauren told us they were flash fried and then tossed in a pineapple chipotle bbq sauce, but we loved them!! We also got a side of mac and cheese. Although it was creamy, there was no seasoning or real flavor to it, and we ultimately rated the mac and cheese 1 out of 5 stars!! It's definitely a place we'd go back to again!

On our first trip to Nashville, we had dinner at Jimmy Kelly’s Steak House, and it was simply a great time. From the moment we sat down, our waitress made us feel right at home. She was friendly, down-to-earth, and even had us laughing throughout the night. It didn’t feel like the usual rushed or impersonal service you sometimes get—she genuinely made us feel welcome. The food was just as impressive. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic, and the mac and cheese was the perfect blend of creamy and rich. I ordered the 8 oz filet, which was cooked exactly how I like it—tender and full of flavor. The Tuna Tataki was also a highlight, fresh and delicious. For a first-time visit to Nashville, this place was a great choice. I’d definitely recommend it and would happily eat there again!

This never ceases to amaze, always a joy to eat here, the food is always amazing, the staff is impeccable, and the atmosphere is just charming! I've been going for over 15 years and it's never lost it's ability to bring me back again! See you soon again!

From the minute we walked in we felt like a king and queen. From arrival to departure we had the greatest dining experience. Our waiter gave us a history of Jimmy Kelly’s and I took it all in. I love Nashville history. I also purchased Mike Kelly’s book. He autographed it. The food, superb. I had the 12 ounce filet and my wife the NY strip. I added a side of Diane’s sauce for the steak just to try it (I think the steak was delicious enough) but the mushroom gravy was also delicious. We had the macaroni and cheese and cream corn. All aspects of our dining experience were exquisite. Ms. Mae, the director of hospitality came by with her card and insured us if we needed ANYTHING to let her know. Our tummy’s were full and we departed feeling like we’d never felt with any other dining experience. I’ve heard not much has changed over the years of the restaurant and I hope it stays the same. Fantastic.

We made reservations for 4:45pm for our Anniversary. We were seated immediately upon arrival; however, we didn't see a waiter for almost 30 minutes after being seated. Apparently they seated us, and other guests, in a section that didn't have a waiter present. So, that was not a good start to the dining experience. After the waiter arrived, he did a decent job. The food was good, but overpriced. We knew it was going to be expensive when we made the reservations, and we were expecting that. However, $30 for 2 crab balls (listed as "crab cakes" on the menu) and $13 for 5 pieces of asparagus is ridiculous. Also, the meat, while being tender and cooked right, had no seasoning. Some of the other guests in our area had to ask for steak sauce because there was no flavor to their steaks. The hotcakes that came out first were good, and a change from the normal bread served at other places. Other than the steaks not having any flavor, the rest of the food was good. Unless we receive a gift card from family/friends, we probably won't return. Too many other steakhouses around to go back to one where we had such a disappointing experience, especially this being an important Anniversary dinner.
