Trailhead Steak & Trout offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with friendly service. While there can be longer wait times, especially on busy nights, many diners find the food worth the wait. Dishes like the ribeye, grilled trout, and appetizers such as potato skins and fried green tomatoes receive high praise for their quality and flavor. In for anniversary. On Friday and Saturday they don’t take reservations so wait time was hour and a half when we arrived. But….. we waited. Everyone was super nice. Food was really good and Crystal was the nicest person I’ve probably ever met.

A group of us are in town visiting. We are staying close to here and wanted steak. Cute lil place. They couldn't accommodate our party of 12. We had to split into parties of no larger than 4. We got seated quickly on a Saturday night at 5pm. Menu is decent, lots of variety. Market place for the Filet was $40. Our server was great. Kept our glasses filled. Our appetizer came out quick. We didn't receive our food until 625pm... we were seated at 5pm. Our waitress did apologize, and said about a big party- which we confused about- because they couldn't seat our party of 12 together. We saw that our other friends that were seated after us were served before us. The food was good, not great. Again, our waitress was great until the meal was really running late and then it was crickets from her for a bit. A few people in our large party said the food was bland. My tiger shrimp are large and very good. Everything was cooked perfect. My sirloin was cooked perfect. My friend mentioned her filet was great.

Came here for my birthday & I must say service was excellent & so was the food. I had the Queen Ribeye cooked to perfection. Grilled Trout was so good. Blueberry Cheesecake was super delicious. Would definitely come back again.

Our server Laura was amazing! After 2 meals locally out of a Sysco can, she was honest with us about what was made in-house. Ordered the Thunderhead Potato Skins which had Red Blackberry Jam, Spinach and Goat Cheese. Nice appetizer! Warm rolls with Whipped Cinnamon Butter came wrapped in a cloth napkin. Fried Catfish had the lightest of cornmeal breading, accompanied by a Loaded Baked Potato. For a Fine Dining Restaurant, it was disappointing to have cheap cutlery. Could not even cut through the catfish with the side of the fork. Atmosphere is great, homey and quiet!

Outstanding food and service. Beautiful rustic setting and decor. Highly recommend the blackberry jam, the trout was tasty, the wait time on a Wednesday close to closing told the story. Locals are the main customers for good reason. The only negative is a single occupant customer restroom for men and anotherforwomen.

We needed to wait 20 min but it was worthy. Service is nice, food is goooood. We had the potato skins with jam and goat cheese and the fried green tomatoes that both were a delight; meat was good; trout and salmon Cajun style were yumi. Beer is served super cool, as it should. Prices are more than fair. Nice surprise while visiting the Smoky Mountains!

We had to wait an hr but so worth the wait. My husband and I ordered the surf and turf. We had the ribeyes with grilled Cajun trout. Absolutely delicious. Steaks were made just right and trout just melted in our mouth. The staff were very friendly. The fried green tomatoes were delicious as well.
