About Sunset Grill Restaurant - steak house in Hillsboro, Oregon
Customer Review Summary
Sunset Grill Restaurant offers a casual dining experience with a mix of positive and negative feedback from patrons. Brunch options like the big boy special feature real corned beef, but the premade gravy drew criticism for being flavorless. Service is frequently praised for being friendly and attentive, although the atmosphere is described as dark and somewhat uninviting due to the previous décor. Menu items such as omelets are enjoyed, but some dishes, like the biscuits and hash browns, face criticism for texture issues. The restaurant is spacious with a full bar, and coffee refills are appreciated by guests. Past experiences with takeout have led to dissatisfaction due to incorrect orders. Overall, the food is considered good for casual outings, though it may not be suitable for special dinners.

Stopped by for brunch with my wife. We split the big boy special. It's biscuits and gravy with corned beef hash covered in country gravy and two eggs. The biscuits were griddle cakes-aka-pancakes, the hash was real corned beef with under cooked hash browns; I was pleasantly surprised by the real corned beef. The premade boxed gravy was the real disappointment here. Nasty, flavorless, and unpleasant texture. Our server however was friendly and came by several times to check on us. I was pleased with the service. The atmosphere is odd, you can tell it used to be a Chinese restaurant; With seasonal touches throughout, with different seasons mixed together. I'm assuming they were just left up. And I'm pretty sure the manager was dining in the dining area with the customers; which I find unprofessional. Also the dining area was very dark. Probably won't go out of my way to eat here again.

Great service and a good selection of items on the menu. Omelettes are very tasty. Biscuits were a bit too soft. They need a bit of a crunchy crust I think. Hash browns were soggy on the inside despite a nice golden color on the outside. Coffee comes with refills which is great. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They provide a fast service. You are handed the menu and allowed to sit anywhere you like, which is also great. Windows are too high so you cannot see the outside. There isn't much to look at inside and the place feels a bit dark. Additional lighting and decorations would make a huge difference for the customers. Great place to have a quick bite though. I would not choose this place for a special dinner though. It is good for casual outings that won't put a dent in your wallet.

The restaurant is spacious and has a full bar. The windows are tall, and while the seating near them is bright, the overall atmosphere is quite dim. We had the Denver omelet and the bacon cheeseburger. The Denver omelet was generous in portion and soft, with the hash browns on the side being crispy and very tasty. The burger was standard but still good. Both the black coffee and the coffee with milk and sugar were delicious. The iced coffee was a bit weak, but the free refills were a nice touch. Since the house wine is only $5, we decided to come back the next day to try it. This time, we had the strawberry waffles and the Angus beef ground sirloin steak. The waffles were small but thick and fluffy. Unfortunately, the strawberries were not fresh; they were defrosted, and one was still frozen. However, the dish was overall quite good. As for the steak, we expected a handmade, tender hamburger-style patty, but it turned out to be more like a hard, thin burger patty. Given that the house wine at Oswego Grill’s happy hour was terrible, our expectations were low. However, both the red and white wines were very good, especially considering the $5 price. My husband liked the place a lot and said he’d love to come back.

Went for breakfast with family and was very satisfied! Had the 2 x 2 breakfast with pancakes. It all was very good! The waitress was very attentive and seemed to enjoy the 3 year old we had with us!

Two times I have order food from delivery service. Both times the orders were off. Today we received the entirety wrong order. For almost 50 bucks we received 2 eggs, hasbrowns and bacon. I am so upset, but mostly because I am hungry. We will get a refund in the next 5 days. That's not the point. You need to do better.

The food was above par as usual. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a down-home feel.

Lots of tasty food for very little money at this clean diner with friendly service and classic interior. The biscuits and gravy are very good, and the Spanish omelette was satisfying. Unfortunately on day we visited, the biscuits were a bit tough, and they seemed understaffed. However, the hash browns were excellent, and they serve classic “drink all day” diner coffee.
