A local Institution since 1971 this is that place you need to try on your next trip to Hillsboro. From the nostalgic dining space, great service and classic menu items - it’s no wonder why it’s still a favorite amongst those who know. So the next time you’re in the area, give this place a try. And, as always, don’t forget to support small or local business! Service✅Food✅Atmosphere✅Mahalo Hale’s Restaurant & Lounge! 🤙🏽

We have been to this restaurant many times, but we always have trouble deciding what to order because the menu is so extensive and the portions are so large. This time, we ate at an outdoor table for the first time. The restaurant is located next to a TV HWY, so the sound of cars can be a bit loud, but the atmosphere was very nice. We had the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, Spanish Omelet, and strawberry Belgian Waffle. All of the dishes were delicious and we couldn't finish them all. Of course we will come back again.🤤 03/10/2024 (Sun) It had been a while since we last visited, and it just so happened to be the Weekend Special day, so I didn't hesitate to order the Steak & Lobster Weekends. The lobster was plump, and the baked potatoes were large—overall, We were thoroughly satisfied. We also had the Fruit Belgian Waffle again because we enjoyed it so much the last time.😊✨ 10/02/2024 (Wed) We had the Spanish Omelette ($16.95) with added pepper jack cheese, bacon, and mushrooms ($2.50 each), a lunch special ($13.95), two coffees ($7.50), and a Crème Brûlée Cheesecake ($8.95). The Spanish Omelette had more sauce than I expected, making the flavor a bit too strong for my taste and different from what I had imagined. 01/07/2025 (Tue) We ordered the Full French Toast ($12.95), Hot Beef Dinner Sandwich ($14.95), and coffee. The French Toast was made with thick, soft bread, slightly yellow like brioche, and it was so delicious I finished all five slices without hesitation. The Hot Beef Sandwich was quite different from what I expected, with a generous amount of demi-glace sauce poured over the top. However, the sauce had a gentle flavor that blended perfectly with the dish, making it very enjoyable.😊 01/16/2025 (Thu) Buttermilk Pancakes ($9.95), French Toast (Half $10.95) Coffeex2 ($7.50) 01/22/2025 (Wed) Triple Crunch French Toast ($14.95) Blackened Salmon Alfredo ($22.95) House amerlot ($7.50) Coffee Nudge ($10) 02/14/2025 (Fri) In the morning, the snow kept things from getting too busy, so we were able to enjoy a leisurely Valentine's Day lunch in the afternoon. It happened to be a special menu day (held three days a month), and there was also a Valentine's special cocktail, so we tried that too. Steak & Lobster ($44.95), Blueberry Pancakes ($11.95), Cupid's Arrow ($10)🍸, Coffee ($3.75 x 2)☕☕, Creme Brulee Cheesecake ($8.95) Shortly after we were seated, the restaurant filled up and became lively, creating a lovely atmosphere. 02/19/2025 (Wed) Prime Rib ($29.95) Sautéed Shrimp & Scallops ($29.95) Coffee ($3.95) Soda ($3.95) We had accumulated Clover points, so we got a 20% discount, which made the meal a great deal!🥰

Shouts outs Lisa, amazing, quick service. Very friendly environment and the food was amazing! Best pancakes I ever did have and the absolute crunch on the Country fried steak, divine. Would definitely recommend if'n you're in the area.

I love coming here. When we first moved here I needed to feel something that reminded me of family because I have no family here. I was looking for a steakhouse type atmosphere first and found Hale's. When we got there, it was like a blast from the past. This is the place you went to with grandma and grandpa as a kid. The frosted glass dividers, stained glass, brass fixtures. Looking around at the clientele, it is a place that feels safe. Lots of older folks, enjoying each other's company, families with grandchildren...just a quaint atmosphere...exactly what I wanted. No nonsense food, homemade bread loaves with butter, a menu that is traditionally "American coffeeshop" with a bit of "steakhouse" mixed in although it's not crazy expensive like one. It's my favorite for when I need a salad, when I want a sandwich or a diner dinner. Highly recommend!

The waitress was so sweet and kind, her smile made my day; I apologize I didn’t read her name tag but she has cute blue glasses, I love her. My breakfast burrito was one of the best burritos I’ve ever had. I loved it, that was my first time there and I will be back!
