I decided to go to True Blue Butcher and Barrel restaurant tonight, and I'm glad I made that decision. It's a very casual spot in terms of vibe, but definitely not in terms of the food they serve. The cuts of meat are displayed beautifully, and the quality is superb. We were greeted by Mitchell, our server, who was not only personable and engaging but also well-versed in the True Blue Butcher Barrel brand. He easily recommended various cocktails based on our spirit of choice, as well as food options. Everything was absolutely delicious! My nephew had the ribeye, while my niece and I had the New York strip. We opted for macaroni and cheese, asparagus, french fries, and mushrooms as our sides. For dessert, we indulged in the tart and the carrot cake. I absolutely cannot wait until I'm in town again just so I can visit this spot.

First, I want to mention that the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and the staff were professional and attentive to our entire table. The steaks we ordered arrived quickly, which was a plus, but after the first bite, something didn’t seem right. I took a few more bites and noticed the steak was tough to cut. Honestly, I’ve had ribeye cuts from Food Lion that were much easier to slice. The meat had no discernible grain, and the taste was off. For the price we paid, we expected much better quality. We definitely won’t be coming back.

The food was nothing special, but we ordered two Mac and cheese, one of which was normal, and the other was very soupy. We asked the waitress about it, which she just brushed off and took it away. She was polite the rest of the time, but didn’t offer anything or apologize on behalf of the cooks. Was disappointing :/

True Blue Butcher & Barrel is a lovely restaurant located in the South Front District. This is one of several restaurants in the True Blue family. The inside and outside seating areas are very spacious and lovely. We ordered: Pork Belly-Steam Buns, Pork Belly, Ginger Scallion Sauce, Pickled Daikon, and Kimchee Salad. Truffle Fries-Lemon, Black Truffle, Parmesan Wings(Pecan Smoked, Blue Cheese, House-made Hot Sauce, Garlic Pickles). The Pork Belly steamed buns were delicious. The Salad had way too much salad dressing on it, which made it difficult to eat. The Truffle fries were under-seasoned. We had to ask for Salt. The wings were cooked perfectly and had a good smoke flavor. The Blue Cheese dipping sauce was delicious. The food product is excellent. We just had a couple of execution issues. When I go back to try again, I will update this review.

Amazing food we loved the crab cakes and the banana old fashion will have us coming back again. Our server was knowledgeable and so sweet. I love the local artwork they had hanging on the wall

I have a service dog, we made reservations to eat there but when we got to the restaurant to eat we were told we could only eat outside. It's a cool night. There's no reason for us to eat outside- my service dog is a mobility aide just like any other medical equipment. In all my time of having my service dog, we have never once been told we couldn't eat inside, or treated like less than until coming to true blue butcher and barrel. Edit to add: they responded to email them about the encounter, I did, 2 days later still no response from that email I sent.

My brother and I came here wanting to splurge a bit for some good steak. We can both proudly say that we did. The steak was amazing. Hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. They served us sparkling water as well. The eggs were great. Everything was just amazing. And despite the high prices, it’s not super classy either. You feel right at home even in street clothes. I highly recommend and will be coming back again.

I went to this restaurant for a family member bday dinner party. We kept hearing about this restaurant, so we decided to try it out. There were positives and negatives to this restaurant. For the positives, the drinks were great, won't be disappointed! The customer services from Michael (the server), was outstanding and the best service I've ever received. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care, understood the menu, answer any questions anyone had at the table, making sure our beverages were refilled and completed every other job duty as a server and customer service, etc. The customer services from Michael (the server) get a five stars alone from everyone at the dinner party. The bacon mac-n-cheese was good. The negative of the restaurant was the food was very bland. I didn't taste no flavor in majority of the food. The presentation of the food looked fine but when you take a bite, there were no flavor, no seasoning. Maybe there was not enough of seasoning put in the food. The crab cakes and wings were bland. The fries had a different taste I can't describe, I had to to cover them with ketchup just to eat them. The wings tasted funny, they didn't taste like wings. The pork chop was dried and bland.
