About The Hoagie Stop - steak house in Buffalo, New York

Customer Review Summary

The Hoagie Stop receives mixed reviews for its food and service. Many patrons praise the steak hoagies and wings for their flavor, size, and quality, often describing them as the best in town or even a strong competitor to other local establishments. However, some customers have reported issues with saltiness in their food, leading to a less enjoyable experience. Service experiences vary greatly; while some found staff to be friendly and welcoming, others described a negative encounter due to seemingly strict boundaries and a lack of clear signage for customers. Overall, the food is well-loved by many, but inconsistencies in service and food preparation might detract from the overall experience.

Don’t use the photo to get an idea on the presentation. The initial presentation was great! The food looks amazing. It smells amazing! But too much salt. I’m sure it was a mistake because of the reviews. But I can only judge on what I ate. It was not busy on Friday around 4:30… service was fine. Notice I had to take meat off because it was too salty! First time I have ever thought about rinsing off a steak sub lol. It’s a shame because you can taste the flavor hiding behind the salt. I would give less than 3 stars but the salt really feels like a mistake that someone didn’t know how to fix.

Clinton Street location: My son ordered their Friday special (steak hoagie (BOGO) and wings (BOGO) through Uber Eats). The food was excellent! The subs are real competition with Jim's Steakout. Excellent size, fully loaded, and seasoned perfectly! The wings I definitely would put in my top 3 in Buffalo. The others may want to watch out (hot rub and hot honey/crispy). Saturday, my husband and I decided to try their hoagie special, we picked chicken to try something different (BOGO) and it was excellent! My picture is just half of the sub we ordered. A half feels like a whole. lol

I ordered twice while in town visiting from Colorado..I am originally from here by the way...the steak hoagies were amazing both times and the second time I got the wings and they were just as amazing

Fantastic Hoagie, hands down, 100% ⚠️ BE ADVISED ⚠️ But.... verbally pounced on by the whole staff for walking past an invisible "boundary". Disappointing. Let's replay: Folks reading this -- take note: They take their space VERY seriously. This is the sacred Hoagie ground. If you step past that counter -- decibels are going up, they're sounding the alarm. Do not break the code of the Hoagie and step past that counter, or the Hoagie defenders are going to be all over you. You've been warned. Do. Not. Approach. 🚨 THE HOAGIE 🚨 This boundary is unmistakable: there's a counter, and a couple feet of room for you to stand in front of. Past that counter is a rug that leads you to a TV & vending machine. It may be inviting, maybe even enticing -- but it's a trap! 😱 Now, I'd forewarn you to observe the signs, but there are no signs. But there is a stool! This stool -- it is the sign. This stool, while you may mistake it ass a stool for the person working the register, or for you to sit on while you wait -- this stool is the boundary, folks. It is the barrier between the normal world and sacred Hoagie grounds. Do not pass the stool! As they say, behind every sign there's a story. (but there's.. no sign, so the story will seemingly continue!) --- In all seriousness, that was a pretty disappointing reaction. The shouting, the dude in the back with the gestures of being aggravated that it happened again.. Think of the new customer experience as they walk through your doors. We're always striving for our business's growth, right? Existing customer retention is important. New ones are opportunities. One might assume this is because it happens a lot.. Something something if everyone is the problem... you might be the problem.. Just accept that a simple sign puts an end to your grievance of morons like me (new customer) walking past your counter. Everyone has signs -- "please wait for service", "Do not enter". Use a sharpie for all I care, just don't expect the public to know what you know. We're just here for some quick food y'all. I'm already hangry and don't need your attitude. Cherry on top was my order receipt sitting in the register that nobody ever noticed -- y'all, I had to put up with their shit, AND wait for their shit 😂 At least I got a show and a top notch Hoagie tho! Just.. figure your shit out and chill out.

Review: I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to make an exception for this incredible Black-owned business. They make the best steak hoagie subs I’ve ever tasted—hands down! The flavor is out of this world, and you can tell the staff takes pride in every single meal they craft. The attention to detail, the fresh ingredients, and the perfect seasoning make each bite unforgettable. The staff does a fantastic job, always friendly and welcoming, creating an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. I genuinely feel this is the best food on earth. The care and passion that go into each dish are undeniable. May God bless the owner and this amazing establishment for bringing such joy to so many people through their food. If you haven’t tried their steak hoagie subs yet, do yourself a favor and go now. You won’t regret it!

Found them on uber eats as they have a BOGO special on wings. Ordered from them a few times with no issues. Lemon pepper were always delicious. However, last night my order was made as plain wings instead of lemon pepper. They were also so overcooked, they were practically hard. Hard to chew overcooked dry chicken wings. Bit disappointed as this has changed my opinion on the food quality.

Omg ok this was my first time here and I was absolutely blown away with the exceptional customer service and how professional and friendly they were. Now let’s get to the food, baby it is the best in town hands down. I had the steak hoagie and steak fries. Lawwd have mercy y’all gotta try it. You won’t be disappointed.

This was the first hoagie stop I tried and it didn't disappoint. The people behind the counter greeted me professionally but with a vibe like they were happy I stopped by. The food was fresh and fast and DELICIOUS 😋 . This isnt a sit down spot but if you want to grab a great meal to take with you I definitely suggests this location
