Customer Review Summary

The atmosphere and food at Salvatore’s Grand Hotel receive high praise, particularly for the attentive staff and the dining experience at Russell’s restaurant. Complaints arise regarding cleanliness and outdated decor in some rooms, as well as sporadic issues with staff courtesy. A notable concern is the lack of communication about a strict dress code enforced by the owner, which caused embarrassment for guests. While some reviews highlight exceptional service and personal touches from the owner, others report unprofessional behavior that detracted from their experience. Overall, the hotel is viewed as a mix of elegance and personal charm, but potential guests are cautioned about inconsistency in service and amenities.

Back to dinner and overnight stay at Russels. The food and atmosphere is top notch !. Russel is always there making certain, he doesn't play games, you better dress appropriately!!! The wait staff is great, not sure how I feel about the overly high water pours though...lol. the splashing vs the high pour glitz. We stayed overnight but we're disappointed again. I know I get it you can't stop dirtbags, yes dirt bags from smoking weed in a beautiful hotel, stinking it to high Hell, the ventilation system is common to other rooms, so lucky us. This is actually the third or forth time now. There's another high end hotel we stay quite a few times in the same area, not once did we encounter the weed / smoke issue. Here's my opinion why. Salvatores keeps their rooms cheaper, available to most ( which is cool) BUT look at what you attract! ...the other hoteL, priced AT $400ish a night. kind of pricey but it's beautiful, quiet and very soft beds !! The price almost gaurentees no dirt bags, scum bags or inconsiderate people.

Amazing stay while in town on business. Friendliest staff and amazing rooms. Breakfast was great as well. Hopefully will be back in town soon for another stay.

Exceptional stay at Salvatore’s Grand Hotel—truly the best hotel I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve traveled extensively for work. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming Kyle at the front desk, setting the tone for a perfect visit.||||Mr. Russell Salvatore and Mr. Mark Jerge were ever-present, impeccably dressed, and hands-on throughout my stay, ensuring that every detail was just right. Their gracious involvement made me feel like a special guest in their home.||||Ashley at the bar was dazzling, not only mixing fantastic drinks but also remembering everyone’s names, which added a personal touch that made the experience even more memorable.||||The hotel itself is an epitome of elegance. The lounge, where I spent much of my time visiting with friends, is amazing—so much fun with great music videos and TVs displaying an incredible backdrop of Niagara Falls. It was the perfect place to catch up with friends from my hometown of Lancaster during my Depew high school reunion.||||I stayed for three nights, from 8/23 to 8/26, and every moment was flawless. The gym was the cleanest I’ve ever seen, and I had it all to myself. The king bed in my room was incredibly comfortable, ensuring I slept soundly every night. The hotel’s proximity to the airport and all the places I visited in Lancaster and Depew made the location ideal.||||Room service at Russell’s was an experience in itself. The filet topped with blue cheese was simply unforgettable—it melted in my mouth. The sides were just as impressive. I’ve never had a better steak! ||||The hotel’s grounds are spectacular, with the Patriots and Heroes Park being particularly impressive. The complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport was a great convenience.||||This hotel is truly unique, combining upscale elegance with a personal touch. If I still lived in Buffalo, I would frequent the lounge regularly. Even now, I would consider visiting Buffalo just to stay here, dine at Russell’s, and relax in the lounge. Salvatore’s Grand Hotel is more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience I will treasure.

My stay at the Salvatore Grand Hotel has been great, I was in town for work and stayed at the there. When you walk in there is a wax figure of the owner that did scare me for min, looks real for sure, what I found unique was the owner is still active and engaged with the day to day operations of the hotel and the fabulous Russell’s, the top tier restaurant that’s attached to the hotel. My friends and I enjoyed every part of the service as well as the meal. We ordered for starts, Lump Crab Cakes and Mussels. Each was cooked to perfection but my favorite was indeed the Mussels, the sauce was so good my friend packed it to go with the few pieces of bread we had left. The menu is a bit pricey but they offer an excellent special, Dinner for Two for $54 per person. I order a 6 ounce Filet Migon, loaded potato and a house salad. The steak was seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection. The Rack of Lamb was also tasty and tender. The service was great! The owner was able to fit us in for dinner and he seated us as well. That made me feel good to know he takes such pride in his business. I was very impressed by the entire hotel. This hotel also offers a free breakfast with your stay…not the best breakfast but it was good and warm, no complaint because it’s a lovely accommodation for sure. My actual room was more than comfortable with a very large shower and 2 person Jacuzzi. The bar is top notch as well, the decor throughout the hotel was very nice and I could tell the hotel is in honor of the owner and the works that he’s achieved in his life, I took time to read some of the articles that are present and I will say this. He has loved and therefore is loved too, as I see he knows that community is everything. This was my first time in NY and I drove from Ohio…I will make this trip again just for Russell’s…that was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Even the green beans were delicious. Oh and let’s not forget the REAL bacon that was in my loaded potato. If you’re ever in Buffalo, NY… please carry your tail over to Russell’s that’s located in The Salvatore Grand Hotel. You will not regret this trip.

I recently stayed at Salvatore’s Grand Hotel as an out of town guest and as a bridesmaid of a wedding party. Unfortunately, some of the experience was disappointing…While the rooms were clean, they felt quite outdated in terms of decor and appliances . Dinner was good and the breakfast was good also.. (kudos to the chef working the Sunday morning of 10/13)… however hotel staff was a mixed bag—some were polite and courteous, but others were shockingly rude. One particular incident in the breakfast room left a lasting negative impression. The attendant was blatantly disrespectful to some of the bridesmaids staying there , even throwing silverware and ignoring requests for bottled water. It was an embarrassing and uncomfortable situation that put a slight damper on our celebration. Sadly, this lack of professionalism ALMOST overshadowed such a joyous occasion for our friends and family…

This hotel was really comfortable and had a lot of character. The staff were great. Room service was delicious and the food was clearly homemade. I will definitely come back!

Do not waste your time booking at this hotel. My husband and I stayed here this past weekend (September 14-16, 2024) and our experience was more than disappointing, we were appalled by the emotional immaturity and anger management issues displayed by the owner, Russell Salvatore. ||We booked two nights with the dinner package which includes a dinner voucher for each night to the onsite restaurant. We booked this hotel purely out of nostalgia from a weekend we had previously spent at one of their older establishments in 2008. ||This was our 10th wedding anniversary weekend, which the hotel didn’t/doesn’t know but that should not matter. My husband and I don’t take much time off together from our business and our time is very important to us.||We arrived around 7:30 pm, having driven two hours and were both looking forward to a great meal and a relaxing night. We checked in and prepared for dinner. I need to point out that I wore a dress with a little shrug and my husband wore dress slacks, dress shoes and a more formal-in-style grey knit sweater. He topped it off with a Magill fedora I had purchased for him on our second anniversary. I know he wears this for me.||When we booked the package, including the time for our dinner reservation we were not informed of a dress code.||When I called the hotel again to push forward our dinner reservation we were not informed of a dress code.||When we checked in and had a lengthy conversation, including another discussion about our dinner reservation we were not informed of a dress code.||Nowhere on the information packet with the room key we were given are there any mentions of a dress code.||When we went down for dinner and spoke again to the front desk which is right in front of the restaurant we were not informed of a dress code. And at this time my husband was wearing the hat.||||We approached the hostess stand, hungry, excited, thirsty and just looking to enjoy ourselves. The owner, Russell Salvatore, without greeting asked us for our reservation and without warning had a melt down because my husband was wearing that hat. He literally snarled loudly at my husband -
“GET THAT HAT OFF, this is RUSSELLS”||It was said with such venom I didn’t understand what was happening. This happened in front of other guests, staff and patrons waiting to get in. It was humiliating and we were both too stunned to react. A pager was thrust into our hands and we were curtly brushed away to wait. My husband immediately took his hat off and we sat there not sure what to do.||It was then I noticed another group of patrons, dressed clean-casual at best with one of the men wearing a worn baseball cap. The patrons were about 5 feet from the hostess stand and seemed to be immune to the dress code that sent Russell Salvatore into an apoplectic fit. ||We no longer felt welcome, were embarrassed that our attire caused such a response and decided to leave, asking if our dinner could be delivered to our room.||I returned to the restaurant later to ensure that the staff member who tried to look after us received their tip. I was shocked to see that the aforementioned table of folks were still sat there, with the baseball cap still on. ||My husband and I discussed if we should cancel the following nights reservation but our time is very valuable to us so we decided to keep the room and spend as little time as we could at the hotel. There is a complimentary breakfast so we attended that the following morning where we saw that Russell Salvatore was present. After a nights sleep I wondered if a cooler head would prevail and I approached Russell, privately, to ask if he remembered us and offered him a chance to explain what happened.
The response was worse than his behaviour the night before, including profanity on his part and an absolute dismissal of his actions. It was childish and vulgar.||Upon stepping back and reflecting we missed the signs.||This is an outdated establishment Russel Salvatore has crafted as a temple to himself, for himself. The walls are covered top to bottom with framed accolades he clearly installed as to be able to glory in himself all day and night. He named the restaurant after himself and in every room there is a copy of his biography front and centre on the chest of drawers. This hotel is literally a shrine to Mr. Salvatore, only he’s alive and well and built the shrine himself.||Unfortunately management, while very courteous and helpful, still expect guests to compromise their dignity because Mr. Salvatore donates to charitable causes. ||I will leave you with a set of photo’s, in one of them is a sign with the dress code we were unaware of. ||Perhaps if the sight of a well dressed man wearing a smart fedora sends the owner into an emotional tirade, the dress code bears mentioning somewhere other than on a post or wall that is plastered with hundreds of other framed pictures, plaques, photo’s, stylized paintings, busts, display cases, news articles, advertisements…||Save your time and money folks, there are much better experiences to be had in Buffalo.
