Customer Review Summary
Charlie The Butcher's Carvery offers a cozy dining experience with a nice outdoor area and a welcoming atmosphere. Many reviewers praised the Brunswick stew and the Beef on Weck, noting the unique taste of the Weck roll. However, some customers had issues with service, mentioning staff attitude and mistakes with orders. There were consistent complaints about the roast beef being tough or low quality, leading to dissatisfaction with meals. Despite some positive food experiences, several reviewers felt the quality did not meet expectations, especially compared to earlier standards. The restaurant also seems to be more successful with menu items like turkey and shakes, rather than its signature roast beef offerings. Overall, opinions about Charlie The Butcher's were mixed, with some calling it a must-visit while others had disappointing experiences.

Right down the street from KBUF. Small restaurant. Nice dining area outside. You walk in and order, walk around the corner to pay, and have a seat. The Brunswick stew was worth the trip by itself. It was delicious! The Beef on Weck with the raw horseradish was really good. I'm not typically going to pick a roast beef sandwich, but this roll (the Weck) takes it up another notch! The staff were very nice. I wish I'd gotten another bowl of the stew.

Asked for no pickle and no horse radish....got it anyway, however it ruined my sandwich because it tasted like pickle. The girl working definitely had some attitude going on ! Clearly didn't listen and had no personality at all. She probably shouldn't be in customer service ! Definitely not her thing. I asked her a question, she looked at me like I should already know the answer. As for the food, roast beef really wasn't up to par. [ However it did taste like pickle]

Took my sister and spouse to Elmwood Avenue Location to treat my sister for her birthday. I ordered a corn beef on rye, the meat was so tough I alerted the manager & she made me a roast beef medium which was also very tough to the point I showed my sister & spouse how I couldn't even pull it apart with my hands - now that's really tough. I threw it out, it was that bad. There was a price difference of $3.00 between the corn beef and roast beef which I was NOT offered a return. My spouse turkey w/mashed potato was okay, she said nothing memorable. My sisters beef sandwich was okay. I also bought a piece of pumpkin pie so I could somewhat fill up, it was dry probably sitting around a while. My bill came to $44.96 for a lunch that was not satisfying OR up to Charlie the Butcher standards! Had it been the quality of the original Charlie's I wouldn't have minded the high priced sandwiches but the quality at this location is awful. While sitting there I then noticed people were buying mainly the turkey, milk shakes, salads and soup so apparently that is where they make their money. The manager knew I was displeased and would not give me eye contact which is another tell. Take your chances at this location and don't be surprised if you are not satisfied.

What an experience at Charlie the Butcher’s original site. Small place full of locals with great service and food. A must visit if in Buffalo NY. Must have the beef on Weck roast beef sandwich amazing. Everything we tried including home made apple pie was fantastic. Charlie was in, he and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

This would have been easily a 4.5 to 5 but sadly my beef on wick was cold. Also we decided to eat inside in the winter months. And I don’t think these people believe in having their heater on. It was freezing inside when eating. Overall tho the sandwich was still good. Hopefully they can look into turning the heat on.

Thursday's Prime Rib sandwich special was spectacular! Drove from Toronto for this.

My first time at Charlie’s. Sorry but I expected the beef to be more tender. The Weck was very good but the roast beef had a good floor but I could barely chew the beef. Very disappointing. Will continue looking for a good B on W in Buffalo.
