About Boston Hotel's Steak & Crab - steak house in Buffalo, New York
Customer Review Summary
Boston Hotel's Steak & Crab offers a standout NY Strip that is tender and flavorful, making it the highlight of many meals. However, the sides are often uninspired and lack seasoning, which diminishes the overall experience. Bread is served cold and not homemade, detracting from the meal's quality. Service is polite but doesn’t leave a lasting impression. In contrast, the seafood platter receives high praise for its freshness, especially the scallops, oysters, and clams. While there have been mixed experiences with the clams being muddy and wait times for meals, the overall seafood quality and pricing remain unbeatable, making it a favorite for many. The cozy atmosphere and good customer service are also frequently noted. Some guests mention issues like a lack of substitutions and uncomfortable bar patrons, but these do not overshadow the restaurant’s appeal, especially for seafood lovers. Overall, Boston Hotel's Steak & Crab is viewed as a hidden gem, particularly for its seafood offerings while calls for improvement in certain areas persist.

Boston Hotel Steak and Crab: A Solid Main Dish, but Lacking Finesse We recently dined at Boston Hotel Steak and Crab and tried their NY Strip. The steak was, without a doubt, the highlight of the meal. Tender, perfectly cooked to our order, and bursting with flavor, it showcased the quality and expertise one expects from a steakhouse. The main course did not disappoint. However, the accompanying sides fell short of expectations. While they were adequate, they lacked creativity and seasoning, failing to add anything memorable to the plate. For a meal centered around a premium steak, the sides should complement and elevate the dish, but here they felt uninspired. The roll, another small but significant detail, was also disappointing. Not only was it not homemade, but it wasn’t even served warm, which would have made a world of difference. Fresh, warm bread can set the tone for the meal, and its absence was noticeable. Service-wise, we had no complaints, but it wasn’t particularly noteworthy either. The staff was polite and efficient, but there were no standout moments to make the experience feel more special or personalized. In summary, Boston Hotel Steak and Crab excels in delivering a well-prepared steak but misses the mark on the supporting elements. For a restaurant of this caliber, attention to detail—particularly with sides, bread, and service—could transform the meal into a truly exceptional experience.

Oysters, clams, scallops…oh my! This was our first visit to the Boston Hotel and we were thoroughly impressed! The seafood was beyond fresh and amazing. I recommend the seafood platter to try some of everything! The scallops were the number one choice for all of us. Definitely recommend the raw oysters if you are into that …very fresh and perfectly prepared. The steamed clams and stuffed banana peppers were also a hit. Some of my family had the NY Strip and one had the prime rib - both were tender and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they ran out of snow crab legs…but just gives us a reason to visit again! One tip…it is a cash only restaurant but they do have an ATM there.

The Boston Hotel is hands down my go-to spot for seafood - especially clams, dainties and oysters. Their prices are absolutely unbeatable, and the freshness of their seafood is consistently top-notch. That being said, last night wasn’t the best experience. My clams were extremely muddy and sandy, which was a first for me, and the waitress was pretty inattentive. My meal came out first, and my boyfriend’s steak dinner didn’t arrive until 30 minutes later. Thankfully, when it did, it was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. This place definitely isn’t fancy, but for the price and quality of seafood, you really can’t beat it. They’re cash-only, so come prepared, but despite a couple of hiccups, I’ll always be a loyal customer here.

Wonderfully affordable delicious menu. Cozy atmosphere, great customer service. One of my favorite restaurants in the WNY area.

Stopped in passing through and was not disappointed. Food was delicious! Mike the bartender was spot on with his recommendations, had the bang, bang dainties pipping hot, crisp, and the chili sauce was fantastic. The red shrimp were as sweet as could be. If you're in the area stop, good eats and good prices.

We arrived at Boston Hotel right before it became busy. Hostess seated us immediately and let us choose the table. Our server was friendly and prompt. Cocktails were ordered. Bloody Mary for my husband and I chose the ice cold blue moon. My husband said it was the worse bloody mary he ever had. Lobster dainties slit broiled were ordered for the appetizer and were delicious. It was a long wait for the kitchen to have our entree ready. My husband ordered the steak medium. It was delivered rare. My crab meal was delicious and cooked to perfection. The home made French fries were excellent. We ordered 2 cheese cake with cherries to take home. Home made! And did not disappoint. Crab was not served with lemon only butter and no wet towlets but enough napkins were provided. The cost of the crab entree was excellent and I received huge claws and enough to bring a few home.

This poor place has been on my list to visit for many years. Unfortunately I must have missed it's glory. The food was bland, the service was poor and the restaurant itself needs to be condemned. It's a cash only place with an ATM upfront with a $2 fee plus whatever your bank will charge you. There are no substitutions allow on any item not even for an uncharge (I asked for a side salad instead of a potato and veggies the dinner came with). The bar was full of people at 3pm on a Thursday mid day. Drunken men that made me feel uncomfortable being in the next room trying to eat a meal. Sorry for such a ramble. I was so disappointed.

The place could use some updating but then the downside to that is higher food prices, so I will take what I can get. The Seafood is amazing, Snow Crab Legs are gigantic and fresh! My son and his girl brought me there for my birthday and it was the best birthday ever! I am definitely going back for more! Diners, Drive-ins & Dives (Triple D) would be proud! HIDDEN GEM!
