Ichiban Sterling Heights exceeded my expectations in every way! I was looking for a restaurant that felt upscale yet kid-friendly to celebrate my 30th birthday, and this was the perfect spot. From the start, Alex, the manager, went above and beyond to accommodate all of my requests. He kept in touch leading up to the event, ensuring everything was seamless, and even checked in on the day of to make sure my celebration went smoothly. During my dinner, I was lucky to have Allison and Dustin V. as my servers, and they were nothing short of exceptional! They managed multiple drink orders, delivered soup and salad expediently, and handled seven different tabs with ease—all while making sure the spotlight stayed on me for my special day. Their service was graceful, attentive, and truly elevated the experience. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience or planning a celebration, I highly recommend Ichiban Sterling Heights. The atmosphere, service, and attention to detail made my milestone birthday unforgettable!

02/14/2025 I visited Ichiban Japanese Bistro, located at 44955 Hayes Rd, Sterling Heights, MI, expecting a nice meal on Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, what I got was far from acceptable. When my food arrived, I was horrified to find a piece of hair in my meal. It completely ruined the experience, and I couldn’t believe that something like this would happen at a restaurant. When I brought this issue to the manager, instead of offering a genuine apology or trying to resolve the situation, I was offered a gift card for Ichiban to return and “enjoy a meal.” Seriously? A gift card to the very place that had just served me food with hair in it? That’s not an acceptable solution. The manager tried to assure me that all employees wear hair nets, but clearly, that’s not enough to prevent such a disgusting oversight. At that point, I was fed up. I didn’t want a gift card to return to a place that had proven to be careless with their food safety. I wanted an honest resolution and, at the very least, a refund for the awful experience. It’s hard to trust a restaurant after something like that, especially when they don’t seem to take responsibility for their mistakes. Definitely not coming back to Ichiban anytime soon.

Solid sushi restaurant with good food and service. It was very busy when we got there but we were seated after having a drink by the bar. Waiter was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The was good overall and would come back here again.

I had the pleasure of being served by Cassie during my visit, and I can’t say enough good things about her! From the moment we sat down, she was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. Her knowledge of the menu was outstanding—she not only provided great recommendations but also explained the ingredients and flavors of each dish in detail, helping us make the perfect choices. Cassie was also incredibly attentive without being intrusive. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, kept our drinks full, and ensured that every part of our meal was perfect. It’s clear that she knows the menu inside and out, and her passion for great service really shines through. If you’re dining here, I highly recommend asking for Cassie—you won’t be disappointed! She truly elevates the dining experience with her expertise, professionalism, and warm personality.

Visited Ichiban and sat at the bar. While I have been to Ichiban before, on several occasions, it’s mainly been for hibachi. Started with a mango mai tai which I highly recommend! Ordered two rolls a yellow tail and the crazy roll. Both were presented beautifully and tasted fresh. Overall experience was excellent, the bar area had a vibe of its own and excellent service!

He was extremely quick to get everything we need and checked on us often. Best server I’ve ever had at any restaurant! We need more servers like him in the world!!). One of my favourite places I've ever been! The food tasted very fresh, and was prepared perfectly. It was really fun watching the grill, and the staff were very cool! On top of it the decoration is beautiful. I don't have all of the words to describe how cool it was!

Went here for our wedding anniversary and had the BEST time. Between my husband and I eating out can be difficult due to our allergies. Our server Aly was so knowledgeable and super helpful. She was super patient and answered all our questions. She is so sweet and made sure we had a fabulous time! Be sure to ask for her when you go in!
