After our New Year’s Eve reservation at another restaurant wasn’t honored, we stopped at Rio Grand Steakhouse in Rockford, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. We were quickly seated, even on a busy evening, which was a huge relief. Our waiter was excellent—helpful, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. The food was absolutely delicious! We really enjoyed the Surf and Turf, Fish and Chips, French Onion Soup, and Chicken Tenders. Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d highly recommend Rio Grand Steakhouse to anyone looking for a quality dining experience with exceptional service.

Good quality burger with a great blend of seasonings. An atmosphere and service a couple steps above many restaurants, but still casual enough. - Dish: Grand Burger with American Cheese - $18. The burger patty is half pound and you CAN get a double making it a full pound if beef for another $5. I ordered it medium and it was maybe a touch above that, but excellent! The seasoning gave it a very slight Texas twang and hearty flavor. The toppings were good, thought the lettuce was a touch limp. It was well balanced overall and the bun was a great texture. The side of mayo let’s you decide how much you put on. - Side: Fries. These are on my top ten list of fries (maybe top five). They are about the way I’d choose to make them (if I could cook this good). The batter and seasoning were spot on. The skin left on the potatoes was light enough to be noticed for a good texture, but not overly. And the soft interior was amazing. The burger was $18 with the fries which is on the higher end of a standard burger, but is a half pound patty. Maybe needs a few more fries to justify the cost, but the rest of the experience makes up for this, too. I’m on the fence with the cost. - Side: Bread and Butter. The butter was soft and standard. The bread had a tough and slightly thicker crust, but a full and soft inside that was hearty but good soft bread flavor (stuck on adjectives on this one). Not soft and sweet like some steakhouses, but good quality. - Service: The server we had was always attentive, cheerful, helpful, and everything you needed. Everyone was on their game and super awesome! My burger was on my table in less than 10 minutes after ordering. I think the one major flaw I had with this restaurant was researching prices ahead of time. The website had all their menu items, but no prices. No one had posted a recent copy of their menu on Google Maps or anywhere else. I am posting it here for your benefit. - Atmosphere: They have two sides. One with TVs and one as a quieter restaurant feel. We chose the quiet side. It had a higher class Texas class. Everything was in its place and clean. I even saw someone (a manager?) walking around inspecting things. This place allows for casual, but is careful to pay attention to detail. They also have seating outside with a wonderful view of the Grand River! You can sit outside or on an enclosed deck. - Conclusion: I recommend them more for the service, but the burger and fries were still amazing, too. Visited Saturday in October 4:30-5:00pm

I remember going to this place as a kid, and it was a place I have always went throughout life to celebrate special occasions. When they closed I was sad, and I was happy that they reopened. My wife and I went today to celebrate something great. I expected the inside to be remodeled, and some of it is, but the bathroom certainly was not. There are taps that are not functional. There is hard water stain build up in the sinks, and some areas that are questionable. Service was great, food came quickly and tasted decent. My wife's soup was cold though, and her steak was overcooked. I ordered a Ribeye which tasted decent and was correctly cooked, but the steak was thin. Overall the food was okay to decent. I like some of the upgrades, and the lighting has drastically gotten better, but some of the seating is original and aged and corners seemed to be cut with renovations. For the price you are paying, quality needs to improve, and you are not getting much for portions either. This is not what I remember of this establishment, and I will not be returning sadly.

We had a private party. The young man who was our waiter did an outstanding job. Pleasant, got the orders right and kept our drinks full. Thank-you

We have been here many times! Food is always great. Last night we arrived. Our reservations for 5pm was not put in. We had 4 adults who got entrées and 3 kids who got the kids meals and kids were supposed to be free with the entrées. We were still charged for the kids meals $181.00 for the entire bill. There were 2 other Familes who were seated after my Family and they were helped first. Waitress was extremely slow and needs more training. I don't think we will be back.

I ordered the walleye and it was undercooked and the server never asked how the food was. In all fairness it was a party of 23 but I was sad that I could not eat it. Everyone else in the party (mostly steaks) seemed very happy with the meal. The side salad was huge and deliciousand the sweet potato toes with cinnamon butter was good so I did not go hungry.

My son’s Fillet Mignon was cooked to perfection, but rated on the “low” side for flavor; in fact, it was rather bland. He said the New York Strip steaks he’d gotten on our recent cruise were better. My 1/2 lb cheeseburger was good, but fell well short of the “remarkable” rating I was hoping for. For $80, the meal fell short of expectations. As in the picture, it’s a beautiful steak, it just didn’t have much flavor.

Our server Ben was top notch! Food and drinks were super tasty as well. Try not to fill up on the delicious warm bread before your meal comes out! Atmosphere is just a bit odd. The bar areas seem dim and bare. Also weird hut in the entryway just seems out of place.
