Overall food was great. Steak was amazing, seared tuna for our started was great, lobster bisque was good, sweet potato casserole was to die for, cheesecake for dessert was Incredible. Our waitress… seemed unenthused to be serving. She was kinda short with talking, didn’t really offer a lot of help with the menu and when we were done eating we waited a good 30-40 mins before she brought us our bill. The ambience of the restaurant was strange. We were seated at a partial bench seating with chairs across from us. The bench seats were incredible uncomfortable and the tops of the red leather looked like they haven’t been wiped down in a solid year. Visably dusty and greasy to the touch. It was so hot in the restaurant. I was wearing a short sleeve button up and was dying of how hot it was. Lastly it was LOUD! Like couldn’t really hold a conversation with my wife loud. All in all for two people to share an Appetizer, share a soup, order the porter house for two, with the shared side of the sweet potato casserole, and lastly the desert the total was $227. Left a $50 tip so all in all a bit under $300 for everything. Food.. amazing. Everything else… just go to Leo’s.

TLDR: We love a Ruth’s Chris, and this is the third location we’ve visited together. Food, service, atmosphere was all as expected - that’s a good thing! 😊 Dining with friends before a show at DeVos, We began with cocktails- I forgot to get an image of of the Heineken NA, but they offer it! They also offer Pellegrino in regards to sparkling water, so you don’t have to ruin your stomach lining by drinking Grand Rapids water.😅 We also ordered the Gambler’s Old Fashioned and the Ruby Red Greyhound- both were very good. The ambience was nice- jazz music playing at a good level, and the restaurant was mildly full. The service was good and the servers were friendly and professional. The wine list is fairly extensive- especially the red wine list- which is on par for a steakhouse. For starters, we ordered the lobster bisque- the flavors were spot on- my only complaint is that I wished for more lobster pieces- I only had one 😭. To make up for the lack of seafood 😅, we ordered the Chilled Seafood Tower, which was fantastic. I’m a picky person, and usually seafood towers have oysters or something reminiscent of the texture of… nvm… but this tower didn’t! Lobster, Alaskan King Crab, jumbo shrimp and colossal lump crab were all that adorned the ice tower, and I very much enjoyed it. For mains, we ordered the Salmon and Shrimp (very delicious- the shrimp were perfectly cooked and the salmon was amazingly tasty), the Petit Filet and Shrimp (cooked to order with equally delicious shrimp), and the Ribeye (my friend was proclaiming his love for this dish while he ate it 😅). Meal accompaniments included the Fire Roasted Corn (not our favorite, but I can see why others would like it) and the sweet potato casserole (deliciously sweet and a reminder of Thanksgiving at Grandma’s house 🥰. For dessert, we ordered the special (chef’s selection) Strawberry Shortcake, and a Ruth’s Coffee - a perfect finish to a lovely meal. UPDATE: we visited again in November- he got the filet Oscar style, and I got a fish- not I forgot to photo the menu so I don’t know what it was, but it was delicious!!! He ordered the seasonal dessert which was a berry crumble cheesecake, and I got the bread pudding which was HUGE! Check my photo to see how big it was! Both desserts were scrumptious. I also got a coffee with Bailey’s, which was prepared fantastically.

It was our first time dining at Ruth Chris's Steak House and it definitely did not disappoint us. I made reservations online to ensure we wouldn't have any issues getting a table for dinner. Upon our arrival we were warmly welcomed by the host who checked us in. Once we got seated at our table our waiters immediately introduced themselves and filled our glasses with water as well as took our drink orders. Since we were unfamiliar with the menu the other waiter went over the entire menu with us, highlighting some favorites on the menu. That part was very helpful! The restaurant had a delightful ambiance. Everything was absolutely perfect for a 60th birthday dinner! From the start of our meal to finish, everything and I mean everything was wonderful. From the drinks, to the service, to the food it was truly amazing. If you want to surprise your significant other or just go and have a fabulous meal... make a reservation here at Ruth's Chris's Steak House. You'll be happy you did!!🙂

Absolutely amazing experience. I came in a week before my reservation to work out a plan to propose to my girlfriend. They were so amazingly accommodating and the entire night went perfect. Special thank-you to our server, Caiden, and manager Tarah, for making this special moment go smoothly.

Absolutely adored the ambience of this restaurant. Drinks were top notch, and a great start to the night. Dinner, followed by a stage production! We got in relatively early, and had a back room to ourselves for a bit. Server was absolutely amazing, and attentive the entirety of the night, even when it started to pick up. Food was what was expected for the price point. Steak done exactly as I ordered, and the missuses pasta was cooked very well. The sides are where they shined though! The garlic mashes potatoes were melt in your mouth delicious, and the creamed spinach had amazing flavor, and a very pleasing texture. The chocolate sin cake (a super dense flourless chocolate cake) with a berry compote, complimented by a white Russian, was a perfect capstone to the meal. I wouldn't have changed a thing for the night!

We had a nice experience visiting Ruth's Chris for our first time. The dining area is large with decent space between tables. We were fortunate to get a cozy spot in a corner, providing a quiet space to dine. Everything is clean, perhaps a little aged. The food overall was excellent, as it should be at this price point. The filet was cooked perfectly mid rare and delicious. The stuffed chicken is super flavorful, probably the best chicken we've ever had. The star of the meal though was the veal ravioli appetizer - it is absolutely divine and highly recommended. The only food item that was disappointing was the garlic mashed potatoes, which honestly were too close to instant mash consistency. The cocktails are pricey but strong pours, the Harvest cocktail is great. Service was fast but not pushy at all, and the free dessert was a nice touch. All in all Ruth's Chris is worth the price.

Ruth's Chris Steak House is a downtown legend with a fascinating history. Our server was amazing and so knowledgeable and helpful guiding us through the menu and sharing the history of the restaurant with us. The atmosphere was nice, though I will say to get a reservation on the mezzanine if you can. The spicy shrimp app was delicious and unexpectedly hearty with large filleted shrimp in their tails, lightly breaded and fried with a sweet and spicy cream sauce. The Au gratin had an earthy after flavor from the blue and Swiss cheese that shined through the front flavors. The brussel sprouts with bacon and honey butter have a pleasant hint of ginger but could stand to be roasted a minute or two longer. The petite fillet mignon was tender and cooked well with a warm mid-rare center served on their signature 500 degree plate. The cowboy ribeye was a little tougher than I'm used to for that particular cut but well seasoned and flavorful. All in all I am very happy with the food and service and will be back.

My wife & I were celebrating our 30th Anniversary. They placed rose pedals all over the table. We sat next to the fireplace, beautiful setting. They also beautifully decorated the dessert and included a personal message on it per my instructions. Excellent experience. I ordered the tomahawk steak, it was cooked perfect just like I ordered and the reasoning and flavors were excellent. The Lobster Mac&Cheese was excellent. However, I also ordered the stuff chicken, this on the other hand was very dry but the seasoning and flavors were great. I was disappointed they did not offer to do something about the chicken but because the occasion and everything else being perfect I did not press the issue. This would not stop me from eating here again.
