I understand the hype now… hands down the best steak I’ve had in the area. The staff are extremely friendly and kind. This is the perfect spot for any occasion - thank you!!

I traveled from New York to Ann Arbor to visit a local friend who highly recommended this restaurant, saying it has been a family tradition since 1984. I was expecting a pleasant dining experience, but unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The server did not ask if we wanted bread or provide a detailed introduction to the daily specials when taking our order. I ordered soup, salad, an entrée, and a kids’ meal, but she didn’t ask if I wanted a drink. The food arrived in a disorganized manner—my soup came quickly, but there was no bread until I specifically requested it. The most frustrating part was that my salad and entrée were served together, while the kids’ meal was brought out last. When I questioned the order of service, the server simply said, “You didn’t ask for the dishes to be served separately.” A kids’ meal should be prioritized—this is basic dining etiquette. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the server gave a reluctant apology, saying it might have been a communication issue. Throughout the meal, she never brought us sharing plates. The most shocking part was that before we paid the bill, she sarcastically said, “I hope you had a great meal without a stupid waitress ruining your mood.” This comment was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. I sincerely hope this was not due to any bias or discrimination, but regardless of the intent, such an attitude is unacceptable in a restaurant with a 40-year history. I believe this is not the level of service the founders envisioned. I hope the management takes this issue seriously and improves staff training, as a strong reputation alone is not enough to retain customers.

Went there on a date night. Atmosphere was kitschy, classic old steakhouse feel, which was nice and fun. Old fashioned came with muddled fruit and a full glass of ice which I though to be very old school. Service was good and friendly. Server did forget the bread. Being my first time, I didn’t even know we would be getting bread. Never had our waters refilled. The dynamite shrimp was delicious. The French onion soup was pretty good, more warm then hot and a thin slice of Swiss cheese torched over the top. Nothing to write home about. But the main reason for this review, both mine and my wife’s steaks were over done and flavorless. New York Strip and Filet Mignon. The veggies were way too soft, also flavorless. Over all, the food here was less to be desired. Pretty bland and flavorless. For the prices and the great reviews I have heard word of mouth, I expected better. First time dining there and will probably be the last time.

NY Strip came out perfect. Was able to order it medium rare/rare. Love that they let you do that. Sometimes just ordering medium rare turns into medium by the time it gets to your table. make sure you come in on your birthday for a free dessert! peach cobbler was great, french onion soup came out fast, and even the roll was fluffy.

I don’t typically trash restaurants. That being said my wife took me to this location on my Birthday for a date night basically. We had went previously to the downtown location and it was definitely worth it. Seated us next to the kitchen door which is the only table that is not carpeted underneath. Sits right on the path of the kitchen where the staff goes in. I get seating where is available but honestly there shouldn’t even be a table in that area. The dishes and whatnot are right behind the wall that sits next to you so you can’t even have a conversation. It’s also the location where everyone lingers waiting for passerby’s. Also it’s tile floor right there whereas every other table is on carpet. 20 mins for apps then they forgot to give it to us. Manager apologized for that. Then I watched a table of 5 who sat down after we had ordered get their food first. My wife had a Diet Coke I had a regular refilled mine half full with diet and hers with coke, which we didn’t know cause they filled them with pitchers at the table. The food was garbage. The whole experienced just sucked. Ordered the cowboy steak to share with my wife we ended up just boxing all up and ate the steak at home I ate some gave the rest to the cats. It was so bland if figured they’d enjoy it. The steak was 62 dollars so yeah garbage. The amount of money it costs to eat out in this economy you should be treated a bit better and the food should be excellent. I told my wife I should have just fired a couple NY strips up on our grill it would have been better. Out of soup out of the truffle butter. I’m out of patience. I’m not one to try and get my food for free even in the face of bad service and taste. Needless to say you are better off at the down town location. Plus I had to listen to the drunk seniors who were liberal asshats complaining about Trump for an hour straight. Just the whole thing sucked bad. Do better. I’m not saying don’t go but I’ll never go back. Waiter was polite tho.

2/8/25 All the way around a disappointment. And expensive. The best part of the meal was the shrimp appetizer. Calamari looked like the scraped the crumbs out from the fryer. Tuna special was a very bad cut of fish. The prime rib was luke warm. Baked potato was ordered with butter only and was served with sour cream and no butter. House salad was one of the worst looking I have ever had falling over the side of plate with one slice of cucumber and one cherry tomato. No one ever stopped by and asked how our meal was, just if we wanted desert. When the server did come by, I said we were done, and it took 20 minutes to get the bill. $230 for 4 people and a poor meal and very slow service. Never again.

This was our first time vising after living in Michigan for over 10+ years and I had pretty high expectations based on the reviews. The service was great overall. The waitress was kind and attentive to our requests. I feel like the food took a little while to get as other tables around us that ordered after us got theirs first. The atmosphere was a little different than what I expected. It wasn't unnecessarily loud but we were going to celebrate our anniversary and it was little different than what I had imagined it being. The bread that was served before our food was buttery, hot and top notch. Also the clam chowder and French onion soups were on point. These were probably the highlights of the meal that we received. The rest of the food...was just. fine. Not what I expected at all for the prices. The Prime rib came out more medium rare than medium which was fine but the biggest problem was it lacked flavor overall. For the price I felt like the quality and flavor should be at a different level than I had. I felt the same about the vegetables that were served everything just lacked flavor. I also had to ask for extra Au jus (which has come with every other prime rib I have had - even sandwich's). Also I had to ask for a steak knife (kind of weird as the only other one I had was a butter knife). Not dealbreakers just kind of strange for what I had pictured being the overall experience like. The fresh horseradish was OK but I was surprised at how muted it was for being fresh. My wife got the Chicken sandwich which from the menu was what I was going to order initially and her review was similar as just lacking flavor. It was just an ordinary chicken sandwich without much flavor / sticking out points to warrant the cost.

Wonderful and quick service, good food and value! Will be back again! The French onion soup is delicious! Drinks are stiff :-P (not a bad thing)
