Came here for my birthday in November and had an exceptional experience. Everything, from the moment we walked in, was fantastic. Beautiful, warm ambiance with great food and wonderful service. I haven't been to Gandy Dancer in years and this visit made me want to come back more often. We already have reservations made for February.

The Gandy Dancer has been one of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor for years, the atmosphere is great being right by the train tracks and the food was especially delicious today being Valentine's day. Would highly recommend stopping by! They specialize in seafood and the duck is also really tasty. Cheers!

Excellent high-quality service. Our waiter is the best and he was very professional, timely, thoughtful and explained everything very well. He even shared a story about his daughter and career goals, felt like family. We were their celebrating my father's last day at UofM Cancer Hospital. Our waiter was so kind and even prepared a special complimentary dessert in celebration of my father beating cancer. Thank you for that.

At first, we almost missed the restaurant entirely with its tactfully unassuming position where a Train Station used to sit. The inside is properly reminiscent of the history it holds and the seating is a creative and well thought out use of the space. Our Waitress was perfectly kind, thorough, and consistently available; this made it easy to deal with the kitchen surprisingly running out of our order of Prime Rib (and management stopping by to help us remedy the situation) when our table was receiving excellent service up to that point. Starting with the Dynamite Scallops is an absolute must - the mixture they are in with crab, cheese, and smoothly blended sauces is enough to have you satisfied with whatever else is to come before your first course even arrives. The Coconut Shrimp was some of the best cooked and full flavored shrimp I've had. With bits of Mango and a tangy sauce (and an additional side of Dynamite Sauce I couldn't resist ordering), the balance of sweet and seasoned enhanced the smooth bites of big, expertly cooked Shrimp pieces. The Crab Legs were tender, easy to work, and melted in your mouth. Butter wasn't required for enjoyment but it certainly made the buttery-melt-in-your-mouth meat an amazing bite everytime and immense sadness when the pound finally ran out. The Filet was such a perfect cooked Steak, inside and out, that chewing was really only necessary to make it last. Wonderfully cared for on the grill and seasoned to perfection, the Birthday Girl wasn't overjoyed to miss out on her Prime Rib but this was an easy win in its stead. Even the Children ate well with an affordable kids menu that allowed them to order Chicken Tenders, Cheeseburger, and fries that were all made with the same professionalism that resonated in all the main entrees. Dessert had is all sharing plates and fork diving into each other's decadence - the Chocolate Cake and the Creme Brulee were both creamy, rich, moist masterpieces, and allowed our entire party to leave smiling and fuller than we had ever planned! A fantastic dining experience we'd be thrilled to have again.

My lovely wife took me out to Gandy Dancer for a special birthday meal. We were promptly greeted at the door and the greeter kindly offered to take my winter coat and hang it in the closet. Shortly after we were seated Roy (he provided excellent service throughout the meal) took our drink orders and brought them back filled shortly. Our meal started with the Dynamite Scallops and these were fantastic. The crab pairs just right with scallops cooked to perfection. Next came the Lobster Bisque and Sunburst salad. I couldn’t decide between the two and Lovely offered to go halfsies! Both the Sunburst salad and the Lobster Bisque (my favorite soup anywhere) were delicious. The Lobster bisque was creamy and rich while the salad was bright and fresh. I still can’t choose between the two. The main courses came next with me having chose the AppleJack Sea Bass and my wife the Maryland Crab Cake. The apple and cherry tart welcomed the buttery smooth texture of the fish, and my wife said the crab cake was flavorful on the inside and crispy on the outside and the sweet corn sauce was a nice accompaniment. Finally, I was brought complementary Crème Brûlée for my birthday. In short the whole meal was simply awesome.

Spent our wedding anniversary here last night. Came in as a walk-in. Staff were very kind. Wasn’t sure what to think about it at first. Is it casual? Fine dining? A mix? When the train would pass by people would start clapping. Lots of big groups were present but even then, we had quick service. The fish was amazing and coconut rice was amazing! They had run out of steak my husband wanted but he loved his chicken and tortellini dish! Paul our server was very kind! He certainly made our anniversary dinner worth it! Kudos to the chef! Everything was great! We would definitely come again!

We came in for apps and a bottle of wine at the bar. Had a bottle of Bogle Sauv Blanc, a dozen oysters, ahi tuna poke, a crab cake, dynamite scallops, and a slice of key lime pie. All were excellent. Service was excellent. The building is really neat as I think it was the train station long ago. The tracks run right outside. One piece of advice, if you're not valet parking, the pay spots across the streets app is antiquated and won't download. Just use the self pay kiosk... Overall a really great experience, we look forward to returning🦪🥂🍤🤙

For $40 I thought I was going to get a better meal but I was incredibly disappointed, especially after reading all the good reviews. My takeout order was nothing short of pathetic. This short rib dinner lacked taste and was incredibly small in portions (when I ordered the weight of the cut was missing). Overall just looked and tasted like a complete lack of effort. My sibling dined in and they were also disappointed with their meal. I called and tried to see if a manager could rectify this but all I got is “There’s nothing we can do, our portions are small”. I also suggested they put the weight of the cut on the menu so people know they are ordering a snack rather than a dinner. Well I guess don’t eat here if you’re trying to leave full.
