Customer Review Summary
Mixed reviews for Ocean Prime highlight both excellent service and atmosphere, but inconsistent food quality. Many diners praised attentive and professional staff, creating a welcoming and festive ambiance, especially on special occasions. However, some dishes were criticized for being overly salty or falling short of fine-dining standards. Standouts included the lobster linguine and warm butter cake, but others, like the scallops risotto, lacked flavor. Reservations are highly recommended, and while some guests enjoyed their meals thoroughly, others felt the price did not match the quality. Overall, Ocean Prime is seen as suitable for celebrations with delicious cocktails and decent seafood, though patrons noted there are better options in the Seaport area.

The service and atmosphere were excellent. The food, however, fell somewhat short of that. This could merely be the subjectivity of taste, but most dishes seemed to be twice as salty as they should have been. This includes the truffle egg salad, the steak (which was also charred despite being medium rare), and the miso broccoli, which we found so salty we had to return it. They were gracious to take it off the bill, but otherwise I do not believe most dishes at this restaurant are worth their hefty "fine-dining" price tag. The scallops risotto was somewhat mediocre in taste and quantity despite costing $54. I've had better ones in the Seaport area, and I must say I was disappointed when the food at this restaurant did not achieve the caliber that I was expecting, as it markets itself as a fine dining establishment. One way of putting this in perspective would be the dessert and salad being the best dishes of the day - which should not typically be the case. Aside from food, the servers were very attentive and we felt thoroughly taken care of throughout our 3 hours there. The atmosphere was great, though not the best - I'd say it caters more toward the business executives working nearby, not friends looking for a more quiet and perhaps intimate dining experience. TLDR: There is no shortage of restaurants in the Seaport area that serve better food at the same price. Perhaps it's worth trying if you haven't dined there before, but otherwise it fell short of my expectations and I would thus not return to Ocean Prime for a future occasion.

4-Star Review for Ocean Prime on New Year’s Eve I had a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner at Ocean Prime! The ambiance was vibrant and festive, with elegant decor and just the right amount of energy to make the night feel special without being overwhelming. The staff was attentive and professional, even with the busyness of the holiday, which made the experience feel seamless. The food overall was delicious. They only had East Coast Oysters due to a West Coast diseases, the table bread is so crunchy on the outside but warm and soft on the inside. Australian Wagyu was cooked to my liking (medium rare) and the lobster linguine was flavorful in red sauce. Cocktails were creative and well-crafted, though they did take a bit longer to arrive than expected. The only reason I’m not giving a full five stars is the pacing of the courses which felt a bit long to come out. Also there was an issue with the computers process cards so took on her for the bill. Given the occasion, I would have loved a bit more time to savor each dish. That said, it was still a fantastic evening, and I’d happily return for another celebration or even a casual dinner. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an upscale dining experience with great food and service!

My recent visit to Ocean Prime in Boston was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance set the tone for a sophisticated yet welcoming evening. We started with the lobster bisque, which was velvety, rich, and packed with flavor. The lobster was tender, and the hint of sherry added just the right touch of depth to the dish. Next, we indulged in the lobster linguine, which was a standout. Perfectly cooked pasta was intertwined with generous chunks of fresh lobster and a flavorful sauce that tied the dish together beautifully. The lobster mac and cheese was a decadent treat. The creamy, cheesy goodness was perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the lobster, making it a dish we couldn’t stop eating. Finally, the shrimp sauté was expertly prepared, with the shrimp cooked to perfection and complemented by a well-seasoned, savory sauce. The service was impeccable, with staff attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Every dish arrived promptly and at the perfect temperature. Overall, Ocean Prime delivered an exceptional dining experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an elegant night out, this restaurant is a must-visit for seafood lovers. We’ll definitely be back!

Amazing food and excellent service!!! They have plenty of seating available but need to make a reservation well ahead of time. Our reservation time was 9:45 which was very almost their closing time but they did not rush us to order the food. In fact they asked us to enjoy the dessert and take our time to figure out the menu peacefully

Came here last night for my birthday! I was so excited since I had never been here and was my first time. Services & Food, exceptional!!! Loved everything I tried on the menu and waiter was amazing! Very accommodating, helpful with making food selections on the menu since I didn’t know what I wanted. The drinks recommendations were spot on. Highly recommend the “Berries & Bubbles” as a cocktail drink. For the appetizer, ordered the jumbo lump crab cake. For dinner, ordered their current special which was the a Chilean Seabass with blue crab and thin sliced potatoes. For the birthday dessert I ordered the warm butter cake, which was so good and a perfect way to end the evening. This places food/ services is 10/10. Atmosphere I would’ve given the Resturant 5 stars but the hostesses in the front were not as kind nor pleasant as I would’ve hoped when checking in. The description/ notes requested specifically a booth seating for birthday celebration. Now I get it not all requests can be filled however when it comes to birthdays, anniversaries or any type of special event; then restaurants should be able to make those accommodations for you. Especially if they are made in advance. Therefore we sat at a table and not in a booth as we would’ve liked. However even though we had a hiccup in the beginning of my experience/ arrival, Tyler (shout out to him) my waiter for the evening was the star of the evening. He definitely saved my birthday because he made it so special. I thank him so much for it. Thank you to Ocean Prime as well as I shall come back to try the other amazing options on the menu. I definitely recommend anyone to stop by this place as their food is spot on and the place does have a really nice vibe once you’re sitting down. Only thing I will suggest is please make sure you have a reservation in advance and make sure to get there a little bit early as it can get very busy.

My boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday at Ocean Prime in Boston, and it was an unforgettable experience. I ordered the twin lobster tails, which were incredible, and the table bread was honestly the best I’ve ever had. My boyfriend’s teriyaki salmon was equally delicious. They even surprised me with a complimentary birthday dessert, which had a generous portion and a stunning presentation. The atmosphere and ambiance were amazing, and the service was impressively quick. I’d love to come back if I ever visit Boston again and highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion!

Had a team dinner there this evening, a couple things to note: 1. Service is exemplary—our server was friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful. 2. Quality of dishes is on level with any of the best steakhouses in the city. Of special note: I’m a huge French onion soup fan, and it’s been challenging to find a great one in Boston. This is probably the best I had. 3. Obviously, it’s a steakhouse (with a great seafood selection) but do get the steak. The filet was phenomenal. 4. Good selection of whiskey! UPDATE: went back to the bar this time, had chance to try their tuna tarter (lovely). And the famous warm butter cake. The cake was good, but the ice cream on top of it was the real star. Sooo creamy. Great dessert!
