High-end Italian steakhouse with an extensive menu & wine list, plus a refined bar.
Customer Review Summary
Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse offers a beautiful ambiance and good service, with standout dishes like the maple crème brûlée. However, several reviews express significant concerns about cleanliness, including mouse sightings and unappetizing food experiences. Instances of poor food preparation, such as overcooked scallops and improperly cooked steaks, were noted. Service quality also varied; while some waitstaff were praised for their efforts, management responses to issues were often seen as inadequate or rude. The restaurant's atmosphere has received mixed feedback, with some diners disappointed by seating arrangements and dining conditions. Overall, despite some positive dining experiences, many reviewers indicated they would not return due to these issues.

First time here the other day. Was thrown off that it’s inside of a movie theater but with that being said it was a beautifully decorated restaurant. The food and service were on point. Wish I got our waitress’s name, she was excellent. She was a shorter brunette girl with a braid. She didn’t miss any steps and nailed all the steps of service. The maple creme brûlée was delicious. We had such an enjoyable, pleasant meal overall. Will definitely be back.

We’ve been frequent diners at this restaurant for years, but tonight will sadly be our last visit. During our meal, we saw a mouse running around the table next to us. I immediately informed the hostess, who responded nonchalantly with, “Ok, I’ll let the manager know.” To our surprise, the hostess returned shortly after with a party of four and seated them at the very table where the mouse was. I got her attention to let her know that was the table, but instead of addressing the issue, she was incredibly rude to me. I was simply trying to help, as I wouldn’t want to sit at a table where a mouse was running around. The manager eventually came over and he defended his hostess and lacked concern. Their reaction—or lack of concern—made us wonder if mice are frequent visitors here, as they neither seemed surprised nor apologetic. I then brought it up to our waitress, who was extremely apologetic and visibly upset, admitting she doesn’t like mice either. She promptly moved us across the restaurant and tried her best to salvage the situation. Adding to the disappointment, the food was poorly prepared. My daughter ordered a plain cheeseburger, cooked medium, but it came well done with green sauce, bacon, lettuce, and tomato—nothing like what she asked for. My other daughter’s medium steak arrived medium rare/rare. The only positive part of the evening was our waitress, who did her best in a difficult situation. However, the overall lack of care and hospitality from the management team means we’ll be giving our business to neighboring restaurants that prioritize their guests’ experience and safety.

Waste of money! I ordered scallops and asked that they sear them on both sides. They came out way overdone. This dish generally has a cream corn that goes under it. My corn had zero cream. I shared this with our waiter who expressed zero concern, the manager came over and brought me a side dish of corn prepared the way that it should have been the first time. No offer to redo the $60 dish that was not prepared right or well. My husband's fish was cold and had to be sent back. Our potatoes were whipped nicely but cold. It was simply awful and we will not return. $200 wasted!

Valentine’s Day pre fixe menu was a bust. Couples (us and everyone else) were placed in a back room looking at what I assume was the movie theater’s concessions stand. My wife was given an extremely bent spoon (seen in attached pictures), which she had to request be replaced, and the white tablecloth was stained brown. The lump crab (on the steaks) was overcooked to the point of being rubbery and the béarnaise sauce was visibly separating on the steaks. Also, the waiter spilled water over my wife’s bag and did not stop pouring when I mentioned water was spilling. I had to get up and clean the spill off the chair and purse myself, and the only mention that it happened was when I left my wet napkin on the table and was offered a replacement napkin. This was an overall disappointing experience for my first married Valentine’s Day dinner, and I will not be returning to this location.

My team at work had a group outing to this restaurant, and we had a private room. I am vegetarian, and the menu option included a vegetarian item - Acorn Squash Risotto. The waiter said it was vegetarian. My dish had small chunks of meat in it that I could only detect once I started eating. This was very disappointing to me given how expensive this restaurant is. This would have been a serious issue had I told the restaurant that I had an allergy and they did not care to accommodate my needs. I asked my teammate about his dish - a roasted chicken dish - and he said that it was undercooked. That seems like a public health issue if meat is undercooked. Aside from that, the service was good. The dessert was very good. The private room was nice, but the ceilings were high, so the acoustics made it hard to hear. Additionally, the tall ceilings created harsh shadows and weird lighting.

Davio’s in Chestnut Hill has lost its edge. We used to look forward to piping hot popovers, delicious food and impeccable service. The past three times we dined there the popovers were lukewarm, the food quality and taste took a nosedive and the service, while almost as good, is less than one would hope for at such a high priced restaurant. We won’t be rushing back.

The smoky margarita mock tail was undrinkable - it was so strong of straight lime, and I’m someone who drinks lime in my water daily, it was way too much. The ragu was fine. The chicken dish with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes was severely under seasoned. My dining mate planned to season the chicken herself at home before having it for lunch. I’m sure they forgot about our party when it came to the desserts we ordered. There were no servers around, as if they were just waiting for us to leave. It was late, around 9pm, very few diners left in the restaurant, and still we waited. Half our party left, figuring it was not worth waiting on the desserts they ordered. We had to search out a server to remind them of our deserts, which came a few minutes after asking for them, but was had already waited so long for them. The chocolate cake was good, rich, the ice cream somewhat melted.

It was almost a home run. We started with their Ceasar salad, spring roll trio, and calamari. Everything was good except for the spring roll trio. The steak and cheese one was great, chicken parm one was delicious, then the buffalo chicken one was just drowning in blue cheese filling. It was not fantastic. Small portioned for the price, too. The bolognese was fantastic, perfectly cooked pasta. The risotto was not terrible. The steak was not bad. The mac and cheese side was really cheesy and luscious. We asked for brussle sprouts as a side and got green beans, which is weird, but we didn't send it back, so that's on us. The desserts were ok. Tiramisu, cheesecake, and bourbon toffee cake. The only really good one was the cheesecake. The Tiramisu was not terrible. The burbon toffee cake tasted like a piece of cake doused in alcohol. I do not recommend. The part that really sort of made left us on a negative note was when the waiter took our food to pack it up, he stuck his fingers in the food when grabbing all of the dishes. We had quite a lot left over too and we ended up tossing it. It made it worse that we saw the guy wipe his sweat off his face right before. So, other than that, it wasnt too bad!
