About Murphy's Steakhouse - steak house in Fishers, Indiana
Customer Review Summary
Murphy's Steakhouse has a nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of an older sports bar with a mix of steakhouse elements. The menu offers affordable options, especially for steak and seafood, but some meat cuts are unappealing and seafood is often battered instead of grilled. Appetizers like fried mushrooms and shrimp cocktail are well-received, while steak quality can be mediocre. Service is generally decent but can lack attentiveness, with some guests noting issues with drink refills. Despite the mixed reviews on the steak, many diners appreciate the overall atmosphere, cleanliness, and friendly staff. Noteworthy items include the breaded pork tenderloin and breaded mushroom medley, which many patrons recommend. Pricing is seen as reasonable, making it a suitable spot for casual dining rather than upscale steak dinners. Overall, it's a popular local spot for a relaxed meal, cold drinks, and familiar company.

This place feels like it should smell like cigarettes and have a roulette table in the back. I love it. It has an older client base (not a bad thing) and therefore tries to be multiple things at the same time. At a glance of the menu it looks very affordable, and especially with the steak and seafood selection. However, a lot of the meat cuts are not very appealing, and the seafood is often battered instead of grilled (you could probably ask for just grilled). This place is essentially a sports bar with leather booths and steakhouse lighting. The apps and cheaper “staple foods” are good, but the steak is mediocre at best. I did the surf and turf and the New York strip was 1/3 fat and various colors depending where I was cutting in the meat. The scallops were good, but battered. I would’ve asked for grilled had I known the default procedure was battering. Maybe I’m the odd one out. For apps my partner and I got the fried mushrooms and shrimp cocktail. Like I said, the apps and cheaper foods are good. (Typical sports bar food). While your typical upscale foods like steak and seafood; quality wise, stay within the price range of those collecting Social Security. Service was decent. Only down side is we never got our waters topped off. Food comes out quick too. No longer than a 15 minute wait. No drinks, 2 apps, and 2 entrees (one entree was the $30 surf and turf). I’d say this place is relatively affordable. Our total price was $82 before tip. You could probably take a date here for around $65 before tip. Overall, this seems like a place you get mozzarella sticks and few beers at and watch a football game rather than get a steak and impress your in-laws at.

The host was pleasant enough. The waitress was also pleasant enough. She never came back to check on us. Had to grab the reluctant host to get her! Chips were good, queso was warm and salsa needs reimagined. the coke was good but the sprite was flat. The wings with the dry rub were flavorless . And the bbq wings only had flavor from the sauce. The server said it was nothing she could do because the wings were precooked. This being my first experience, I would not recommend.

I feel like Murphy's @ Flynn's is like the Indianapolis version of Cheers. An Indianapolis classic with great food and service to match. Where you go after a hard day at work and everyone knows your name. Cold drinks at the bar and some nice desserts to enjoy after a well prepared steak. Hot salad, fried mushrooms with a really good horseradish sauce French onion soup. So good and so glad to see it still around

You have to try the breaded pork tenderloin...it was amazing! We also got the chicken tenders and an order of the stacked onion rings. We didn't save enough room for the blackberry cobbler .

WOW! In town from Cincinnati, and drive by this gem for lunch. Service was amazing from Amy!!! Steak and sides were phenomenal. We are opening an office in the area. I know where I will be eating!! Highly recommended!

Popular neighborhood old school steak house with a Super Club vibe. The breaded mushroom medley appetizer was the star and consists of button mushrooms plus thick sliced portobellos with flawless perfectly seasoned breading. Their version has an edge on Sahm's which are now my second place. These may be hard for anyone to top because Sahm's was my #1 for at least a decade until tonight. The lamps on the tables give it a cozy nostalgic ambience. There was even a small band playing classic covers and fun Boomers on the dance floor. I liked it that the music didn't dominate the room. I remembered to take a picture of the mushrooms only after we nearly devoured the platter.

I think everyone can find something they like to eat here. They seemed to be handling a full bar a party and several tables really well. They have both booths and tables and the tables do not make you feel squished. It was a bit load and a bit bright but I would for sure go back!!!!

Good place for a good steak! Really nice place for a really good meal, staff is friendly and tentative, the restaurant is very clean and quite quiet for a really nice ambiance, pricing is fair and portions are generous. I recommend the breaded mushrooms for a appetizer and the sweet tea is really good as well.
