Customer Review Summary

The atmosphere at Thunder Bay Grille Rockford is cozy and welcoming, with a rustic fishing house theme. Service is generally friendly and efficient, with notable mentions of excellent staff. Food quality is a mixed bag; while some dishes like grilled salmon salad and crab cakes receive high praise, others like the bison meatloaf and prime rib can disappoint. We sat at the bar and Senen was our server. The bar/restaurant was not busy, this was surprising because everything was exceptional. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was delicious. We were staying one night at the Marriott and it was our first time in this area. Highly recommend this restaurant. We enjoyed grilled salmon salad and shrimp jambalaya. Excellent.

What a cozy and welcoming atmosphere! The food is fresh and delicious, with friendly, fast and efficient servers. If you have dietary issues, let your server know, as they do have a gluten free menu. This was a fantastic experience and one you will absolutely want to check out!

Ordered Prime Rib asked for rare, came well done. My husband ordered ribeye medium rare and it came out over well done. Overall for the price we paid it was disappointing. We came with a group of people and they had their meals mixed up and offered a discount for that, but all we got was a sorry.

Ordered the bison meatloaf dinner. The meat was tough, almost with an overcooked burger consistency. The entire meal was lacking in flavor, very bland. Best part was the bread and oil! Maybe the food is better when dining in..

Quiet and relaxing dinner. Walked right in and set down with our big group with no wait. Service was great and staff very friendly. Food was great. My only "complaint" for lack of a better word was they only had local craft beers on tap.

When we approached the building we were unsure of what to expect. Old fishing house feel to it. 2 set pf double doors opens up into a foyer. Now the hostess was extremely rude, arrogant and didn't listen to us. She did ask if we would be OK with a booth, yes absolutely! Than she proceeded to bring us to a table, once we said a booth, she rolled her eyes and through the menus down. If you don't like your job - quit! The atmosphere inside reminded me of a gander mountain store. Canoes on the ceilings, oars, racks. The menu was quite expensive for this fisherman motif. Our waitress was phenomenal. Food was awesome but way overpriced!

Everything was amazing! Crab cakes, the house bread, house salad dressing, Cajun shrimp and chicken pasta, and shrimp scampi were all absolutely incredible! Service was top-notch notch! This will absolutely be a new favorite for any occasion...or just Tuesdays. You've got to try this place!!!
