I’ve been to Roka Akor before, but this time I went during restaurant week to celebrate my birthday, and it was such a great experience! Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious – the sushi, gyoza, tacos, steak, and chocolate cake were all perfect and a great value. They went above and beyond to make my birthday feel special. They even wrote me a thoughtful birthday card, which was such a nice touch. Paolo, our server, was super friendly, the drinks were great (even though I forgot the name of the one I ordered), and the manager was attentive and made sure everything was just right. One funny moment was when my ice cream came out with “Happy Anniversary” instead of “Happy Birthday.” It honestly wasn’t a big deal to me, but the staff caught the mistake on their own and were so apologetic. They not only corrected the message but also gave me an extra scoop of ice cream. It’s those thoughtful details that make Roka Akor stand out. The service was amazing, as always, and I’ll definitely be going back. Roka Akor never disappoints!

Litteraly perfection. The food was unbelievable. One of the dishes I was not a fan of was the mushroom risotto, which honestly tasted to both of us like soap. Otherwise, everything else was absolutely delicious. All 5 omakase courses were served at great intervals, never felt rushed, and the service was very polite, although at some point, the next courses started arriving before they cleaned our table from the previous one. Most dishes were so buttery soft that it melted in your mouth, from the appetizers to the steak. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Chicago wanting to spend a little.

That’s here with my partner for restaurant week. We really enjoyed the first course which consisted of dumpling a sushi roll and a sushi taco. The fish melted in your mouth. We then enjoyed the lamb and the black cod. He enjoyed the lamb and I loved the black card. It melted in my mouth. The service was good not wowing but the bartenders were nice. Despite it being restaurant week, we also ordered a couple of items from the happy hour menu.

This was our 1st time at Roka Akor & we celebrated my birthday here. The food was all very delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection with so much flavor. All the sides were great and the deserts were phenomenal! Customer service was great and everyone was very friendly. We will DEFINITELY be coming back in the near future. Thank you Roka for the awesome birthday experience.

Excellent food, beautiful presentation. Steaks, asian inspired dishes. Prompt, helpful, friendly service. Lovely decor and ambiance. Fun to watch the activity in the open kitchen area. One of our favorite places.

Spectacular Omakase experience at Roka. Definitely worth the splurge if you’re looking for experience dining. Our five course meal contained plenty of raw fish, cooked fish, meats, veggies and a dessert platter. Not a single item was a miss and we all left stuffed. Loved the variety of courses compared to a more traditional omakase. Don’t sleep on the dessert finale…I’m not a dessert fella but it was probably my favorite part. Great service and a nice ambiance. Tables aren’t too close and the restaurant is lively, without being too loud. Loved sitting near the open kitchen.

The food was delicious and the service was great! We got the edamame, waygu beef dumplings, shrimp tempura, dynamite scallop roll, seared salmon roll, skirt steak, and the warm chocolate cake.

We recently visited Roka Akor for Chicago Restaurant Week, and our experience was a bit mixed. The appetizers were fantastic and started the meal off strong, but unfortunately, the main course was disappointing. When we asked the waiter for recommendations, he simply told us to choose what we liked, but we didn’t receive much guidance on what would be best, especially since it was our first time at the restaurant. The real letdown, however, was the dessert. We ordered both options available—cheesecake and the chocolate dessert with sorbet—and neither was good. The cheesecake was too soft, and the chocolate dessert was dry, leaving us disappointed. Overall, the meal began well but quickly declined. While the price was okay, we were also surprised to see an additional "processing fee" on top of the tax and tip, which felt a bit excessive. Given our experience, we’re not sure we’d return.
