Customer Review Summary
Bascom's Chop House has received a mixed bag of reviews. Some patrons enjoyed excellent service and outstanding dishes like ribeye and prime rib, praising the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. The shrimp cocktail and stone crab were highlighted as exceptional, and the venue's classic decor contributed to a pleasant dining experience. However, there were notable criticisms regarding consistency; one reviewer experienced disappointing food for a high price, with dishes like fried lobster and dry duck failing to meet expectations. Noise levels were also mentioned as a drawback during lunch hours. Overall, while many diners rave about the quality and service, some found it underwhelming given the premium prices.

To be fair, we did go on Valentine’s Day, so I knew we were rolling the dice. But let’s break this down like a proper food critic because for a $400 tab, I expected fireworks, not fire drills. First, the bread was good. Not “write-home-about-it” good, but solid. Then came the fried lobster, which tasted like it had been deep-fried in a relic of oils past. You know that distinct, borderline historic flavor when a fryer hasn’t seen fresh oil in, say, a few years? Yeah, that. Moving on, my Caesar salad arrived drowning in dressing—more soup than salad. Then came the duck, which was the real heartbreak of the night. I’ve had dry duck before, but this? This was a whole new level. It was so grainy and parched that I half expected it to turn to dust upon cutting into it. I’m not saying it was mummified, but if archaeologists uncovered this in an excavation site, I wouldn’t be surprised. Dessert? The key lime pie was undoubtedly straight from the Sysco truck, and I mean that in the least complimentary way possible. A factory-made afterthought. Now, for the highlight of the night—the king crab. That was the saving grace. Sweet, fresh, and exactly what I had hoped for. But when the best part of a meal is something that requires zero cooking skill, it makes you wonder where things went wrong. Our server, Mark, seemed thrilled to be there—if “thrilled” meant slightly irritated and rushing us through the experience like we had a curfew. Final verdict: For $400, I expected an unforgettable dining experience. And in a way, I did get one—just not for the right reasons.

What a great dining experience. I sat on one of the high tops in the bar area. The service by the ladies at the bar was freaking incredible. They were on top of the experience. The shrimp cocktail was amazing and very fresh. The stone crab app was amazing as well and is in season and very much worth the price. The lobster bisque was great and had the perfect amount of lobster. The Cesar salad was one of the best. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly and heavy marble as advertised. The managers stopped by to make sure the experience was this over the top. Make reservations and put this on your monthly list of places to indulge.

Our first visit here but it was well worth it! Great selection of steaks to include some of my favorites like Tomahawk and Wagyu. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Reservation is highly recommended as it was very busy on Sunday.

Feb2025 Group of 6 and we all rated the food is okay. Worst, I recommended this overly expensive restaurant for such food. The bacon, soup, calamari, ribeye, etc were just okay in comparison to many other restaurants that were less than half the price. Lunch hour is so loud inside that we can't hear each other and it would be nice to upgrade the wall with some sound absorbing materials.

Steak steak steak. I cannot say more than delicious mouth watering delectable and I am still thinking about it 2 days later. The venue is quite old school but looks very classy and the staff fit the part. They serve you almost as I would imagine the team that serve the queen would. Everything is just perfect. The NY Strip steak was done to perfection and the added ash was a unique style that just made the cherry on top. The key lime pie was a real treat that was fantastic. I would definately recommend this place.

First off, we would like to thank J Frost for an amazing evening with great service and a brilliant smile! We and my husband came for a date night we started off with the bread, service and the billionaire bacon, with the blueberry lemon drop martini and the new Caribbean passionfruit both excellent! billionaire bacon is a must have four pieces would be good for four people. My husband got the filet mignon with the mashed potatoes and I had the prime rib both were absolutely amazing.. we ended the night with an rum espresso martini, which was absolutely delicious and tasted like dessert

I had an exceptional dining experience at Bascom’s Chop House. The service was truly top-notch—our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. The Caesar salad was perfectly prepared, fresh, and had just the right amount of dressing. But the highlight of the night was the prime rib—absolutely amazing! It was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a great meal and outstanding service!
