Customer Review Summary
Overall, J. Alexander's Restaurant offers a mix of great food, excellent service, and some notable drawbacks. Many diners praised the quality of the food, especially the steaks, salads, and desserts, with specific mentions of the carrot cake and Hong Kong shrimp. Service experiences varied; while some servers were attentive and helpful, others seemed inexperienced or overly invasive, interrupting guests frequently. Some reviews highlighted issues with appetizer quality and timing, particularly concerning cocktails and certain dishes being overly seasoned or not meeting expectations. Despite some complaints about service and prices, several patrons indicated they would return for special occasions or specific menu items. In summary, while J. Alexander's has its shortcomings, particularly in service consistency, the overall dining experience often leaves a positive impression.

J Alexander’s never disappoints, we’ll almost never. We all had a great dinner, two of us had salads and one had fish. We all thought the main dishes were perfect. We had a couple minor problems though, cocktails, took a good 20 minutes, clearly they had some sort of problem, but at least a cocktails tasted great! The main problem was a salmon dip appetizer we ordered. It had been sitting and had a completely overwhelming flavor of red onion, the gases had permeated the whole dish, and while we tried to eat it, it was just too much. We sent it back, and the server said the chef agreed, however, they did not give us a credit for the dish. We didn’t want to raise a stink (the appetizer was stinky enough), but it left a very ‘bad taste’ in my mind, yes, puns are intended. Im guessing our problems had to do with a new server, he was a nice fella, but obviously was new at this game. We were particularly happy with everything else so I thought I would give a review.

Excellent service. Logan, the host, went out of his way to ensure our girls group had the perfect table. Our waiter was excellent. And the food… so good. The croutons on the Redlands salad… so so good!

Came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a good experience the first time we were there that’s why we came back. No complaints about food, everything we ordered tasted great. What I didn’t like is the service. Our servers were elderly lady with a trainee. The trainee was doing his best no complaints. Most of the time we were served by the women. We came to celebrate our family special occasion , relax, enjoy food, and finally just talk, however, were interrupted nearly every 10-15 minutes by our server who was asking us is everything was ok. I know it is their job but - give people more time to talk and enjoy food and not to answer with a mouth full of food. In the middle of the dinner she came by twice in 10 minute to ask if we needed boxes to go and my husband and I had a feeling like we were being rushed to leave. After that night we are not coming back again

Recently met hubby for dinner and the food was great! Service was awesome / thanks to our server Barney who made sure we had everything we needed - This was my previous:Summer is coming and if you haven’t tried the ice cream cake at Redlands Grill in Centennial than you are missing it!!! Oh my goodness!!! It’s layers of ice cream with snickers and Carmel and then an Oreo cookie crust!! I have been waiting all winter to have this seasonal delicious, yummy, sooo good cake!! You gotta get it!!! You won’t be disappointed 😋

I don't give out 5 stars willy-nilly, but the food, service, and atmosphere here are deserved of a 5 star review. My only slightly negative comment is that it is rather pricey. I think I dropped more than $40 on a Prime Rib sandwich at lunch time (pro tip: they have a hidden menu of some old time favorites that used to be on the printed menu but are no longer there and this sandwich was on it). With that said, I can not recall ever eating a better slice of Prime Rib. Their Hong Kong Shrimp is incredibly yummy. Lightly breaded, bite-sized shrimp in an Asian Fusion tangy sauce.. it's the perfect appetizer. I couldn't go here every day for lunch or dinner because of the price, but when you are looking for a 5 star restaurant experience, you'll get it here.

We love J Alexander’s and often go solely because we are hankering for that darn carrot cake! That being said, the steaks are always so good. Husband has the NY and NYO Mac n cheese this time and holy smokes! The steak was so tender and juicy and the Mac n cheese was 🤯 So yummy. My filet was good but pretty dry. Our server Kevin kindly brought me some of their home made Worcestershire sauce that made it better. The baked potato though. Wow. I mean, you think, potato, big deal but yes, it was a big deal. lol The jacket was so salty and all the good stuff was inside. The potato was hot and fluffy and… it was just delightful. And of course the carrot cake did not disappoint. We don’t eat sugar any more if we can help it but man…. So worth it. The meal was so good that we decided to make Christmas Eve Eve reservations.

Another great one has disappeared. Color me disappointed. I have enjoyed J Alexander's over the years, but in this recent time, this Denver venue has been wanting. It started with the service, curt and cold. I watched 5 other customers not get decent seating due to not selecting special seating when they made reservations. I don't believe they knew that they had to select this. The food was lackluster: oversalted, tough chicken, the daily special; and the recommended grilled trout with a mountain of cole slaw to distract one from contempt of price, was a sad attempt. As I left, I noticed that ginger ale is the price of a cocktail with no free refills. I had two. My mistake, but I would have appreciated a warning from the stellar service. I'm ashamed that I took my wife there for her birthday. Forgive me.

First time experience and it was exceptional! Grilled artichokes and deviled eggs were the perfect start, the steak was cooked perfectly, and THAT carrot cake…chefs kiss! Service from Michael was great!
