Customer Review Summary
Appaloosa Grill is a popular downtown Denver restaurant with a convenient location. The wait can be long, but the staff is accommodating. The food receives mixed reviews; the Chile Goat Salad with blackened salmon is appreciated, while the vegan cauliflower dish received criticism. Appetizers like bone marrow and various soups are well-loved, and the bison and elk options on the menu are notable. Service is generally friendly, but the automatic 20% service charge creates a mixed impression among patrons. The ambiance includes live music but can get distracting at times. Overall, despite some food quality issues, many customers express a desire to return and try more dishes.

I went to Denver for a conference and had the opportunity to explore their Downtown restuarants. The hotel front desk recommended this place. It was very popular, as I'm sure other hotel's recommended it to their guests too. While there was a long wait, other places had similar situations. The location was very convenient to downtown, yet that came with some size restrictions. They did a good job to arrange seating around their centralized bar area. The wait staff was nice, yet very busy. The bartender was doubling as our waiter even though we were against the back wall. I asked for his recommendation as I didn't want anything too heavy. He suggested the Chile Goat Salad with blackened salmon. It was a decent portion; yet it could have been a little bigger. The salmon was cooked well and a good size. It was a nice meal

Went with friend. Heard some great things. Didn’t realize the music was till later so we missed the music. Food was great. Didn’t love the vegan cauliflower otherwise all the other food we ordered was delicious and service is great. They do add a 20% tip automatically so keep that in mind as well. We got a goat cheese salad with a side of salmon, we were told that dish was better than the actual salmon. Friend got some sort of marrow (I don’t eat much meat) and I also got the mushroom pasta dish which was really yummy as well. Music there starts at 9 pm. Enjoy!

So, we went to that place Tuesday night for a late dinner—they stay open late on weeknights, right? Got a table no problem, our server was super quick. We got two different soups, both were awesome. We'd just finished our appetizers when the bone marrow arrived. It looked killer, and we loved it, especially that grape-garlic-tomato sauce. The bread was a little too toasty, kinda falling apart, but overall, it was great. The place was hopping, and that live music was perfect on a cold Tuesday. We'd totally go back to try other stuff on the menu.

Unique and enjoyable place for an upscale bar food . Lots of elk and bison on the menu. My bison burger was delicious. Friends enjoyed the bison pastrami and Rubin. Wings and fries were solid. Great service

My petite fillet was really good, and I didn’t have to cut off a lot of fat. Green beans were excellent, too. Food came fast and our server was friendly and fun.

Went here for dinner - food and cocktails were fantastic! The baked goat cheese was to die for. Cocktails were fun and unique. Service was very friendly. My atmosphere “ding” was because of the added 20% fee (to all bills) as a “service charge for all employees”. They were transparent about it when they brought the bill, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth because we felt obligated to tip our server on top of it. Just raise your prices if you need to pay your people more. A mandatory 20% charge with the suggestion that you can tip your server more individually puts patrons in an uncomfortable spot.

an absolute joy to stumble into after a fashion show/ downtown Denver! the night we went in there there was a band playing by the name of Dave something and two other guys- but what struck me was the bartender that was serving us serving us was just outstanding and she even went up and sang a couple songs with the band really had a good impact on me and my group will definitely come back to this place.🤩👍

The food was so so. My bison filet was dry, and the seared tuna was nasty. The flavor was not my thing. The wagu carpaccio was OUTSTANDING. One of the best carpaccio I have ever had. Service was really good. The atmosphere was lacking. Between the band traversing through, carrying everything between the tables, and it being so dark we could not read the menu..it was distracting. We will be back, just will have lower expectations.
