Gen Korean BBQ House

We were celebrating my dad's birthday, so a huge party of 13, and planned to arrive before the 6 o'clock rush. They were able to quickly accommodate by splitting us into two tables next to each other. All the servers are great! Super attentive, welcoming, polite. Different ones passing by we're able to put orders in for us. Till this day, I don't know how our server was able to memorize our orders when walking by with his hands full of stuff. Our most favorite dish of the night was, by far, just plain brisket since it cooked the quickest. We also enjoyed galbi short ribs, pork jowl, premium pork, and steak. We also enjoyed vegetables, pineapple, garlic chicken, and squid fillet. Interesting discovery, they had tortillas and taco meat like al pastor. Had a different variety of salsas so one of our tables were having Mexican fusion. Pro tip: We love to request for chili, raw garlic, bean paste,rice paper, pickled daikon, and only ask for salad with no dressing. We also enjoyed ordering a side of diced onions to go with our brisket for a little stir fry. Some Costcos sell their gift cards, which really sweetens the meal!

Slow Service 🐌 Waitress has too many tables to take care of, too long to order more meats, the list goes on and on. Never had a bad service like this in my time going into Gen's.

We came here to celebrate my son’s birthday and we had one the best customer service. Our only server has been Zack ever since. This location is the best one out of a few that we have been on. Without a question Zack makes the experience more enjoyable and memorable. The location is quite clean and the staff is very friendly. I have to congratulate Manager Jaime for having a great team and for keeping returning customers like our family.

I received a gift card over the holidays and I’m glad I chose the West Covina Gen location. This was by far my best experience at any Gen KBBQ, the staff was friendly, attentive and and fast. The meat was well portioned and banchan was brought out by requests and they were not stingy. Overall great place for KBBQ

Went here for lunch day after Christmas 2024 we ordered all items off the lunch menu there was nothing posted online, at the table and our servers did not say anything about price during this week of Christmas. We placed our order without problems but we were half way through our meal and had to ask if our drinks were ready we only ordered a soda and sweet tea. Come to find out they were waiting at the other end of the bar for our server to pick them up at least 15 to 20 minutes into our meal. We kept getting meats delivered to our table that we never placed an order for and never got the first few meats and side orders we did order. I ordered a water after finishing my tea and never got it. I had to ask for the check because we set for over 15 minutes after being done with our meal. When we went to pay the cost was for dinner not lunch when I asked about the cost the server just said the managers said we are only doing dinner price. While waiting in line to pay I looked around and the only place it was posted was a small sign on the outside door and one placed by the checkout register. When I asked about not being told about the cost they offered to get a manager I just added up to being the holiday season for the reasoning of the dinner price only but it just didn’t set right because we didn’t order anything off the dinner menu. I declined to talk with the manager and just paid the bill. We have been here at this location many many times in the last few years and have always enjoyed our meal serve and agree with the cost. They had certain dishes at this location only like the volcano chicken that is why we came here…they no longer have them and many of the items have changed. This visit was a very big disappointment with the lack of communication about cost and with the slow serve and lack of correct items ordered. All the items we did get were good but over all experience was not.
